Well it's almost that time the boxes will be coming soon and the madness will begin....I encourage everyone to post pics of their work to show the diversity of chaos and DA successor chapters in this thread I will be sending my chaos to Blue Table Painting to get a masters work done still indecisive if I should make them Khorne or Tzeench

I must admit, the photos of this set have me dusting off my old unpainted space marines and looking at painting up some Angels of Vengeance or Consecrators; anything closer to pre-heresy DA's instead of painting tons and tons of green.

I'm loving the amount of detail and character in the sculpts. Especially since some of the previous 40k boxes have been a bit hit and miss. Other than the captain / sargent the AOBR marines were a bit bland. In comparison (even with the duplicates) these look great.

Also loving the chaos marines they look fantastic.

Time to go find my tools and paints I think.

I really like this starter set, I am about half way done with the DA an plan on trading the chaos stuff off to a friend for his DA stuff.

I like the Terminators better this way.


There is a little roughness where I cut off his power fist but with some paint it will look pretty good.

Really, I like the Cultists, and kinda dislike everything else. All of the other chaos dudes look to busy to me. I've always been a fan of Chosen, and I like that they're just laden with weapons, but I always imagined Chosen to be a bit more stripped down and, for lack of a better term, professional when it comes to armor. I guess it's just personal bias.

The DA look as good as Non Space Wolf Space Marines can I guess

I think these are perhaps the best models I've ever seen GW do..I absolutely love them That being said I can understand how some people wouldn't like the aesthetics as that's something that's extremely subjective....as to the Emo marines comments thanks to the lords sculpts....

I'm pretty sure GW could print "CHAOS SPACE MARINES WIN EVERY GAME THEY ARE IN" as an army rule in the next book and chaos players would just complain about the font being wrong.

The Chaos models look GREAT and waaaaay different than the CSM I have now; my CSM look like space marines that went to a Misfits concert and got really into it, and these guys just look pure evil. Much more badass but i don't know how the new CSM would mix with my old ones.

As an ultramarine player,myself I do also wish they were ultras, I even considered using them as an allied force of da angels for my ultras, to get access to divination....but I just love me them blue marines, the only exception being that I'm probably going to be lazy, paint them blue, paint all the wings stuff extra gaudy gold and call it a day, oh, and plenty of big U decals.

As for the chaos, I'm loving all of them, I'm not truly understanding the hate against the hellbrute, he's warped and mutated, that's why he looks all out of proportion!obviously his gun didn't warp along with him I guess, or maybe its cold outside. I also gotta say the cultist look fantastic, they remind me of the road warrior, gangs of insane people using scrap to arm themselves, along with awesome skin brands and masks!

I loooove the Chaos models, very much in contrast of how bland I think the DA models are. The only thing I'm annoyed about is that I don't have the time to collect a Chaos army.

i liek the chaos models and i might keep some out of my next box, but i was fortunate to find somebody who wanted the chaos half and not the dark angels half so i bought a limited edition for the chaplain and he is buying a regular box set this weekend and we are swapping minis. I like the models in this one space marine side better than aobr they seem more alive more fluid and less generic. I bought 4 aobr boxes because orks are my main army and its nice to have a spare sm army for people to try out the game with, this box gave me some new very pretty minis to paint up and add to the sm diversity ... but i will likely just get the 2 sets worth of it for marines and call it a day i have no desire to get chaos models/ chaos space marines though the models are cool i just would put them at about 5th or 6th on my list of armies to build maybe after my orks, eldar, next army tau, then necrons, and finally imperial guard... then maybe i will work on chaos
