My first game of 40k I ever played still has my greatest performing unit ever. It was a 500 point 5th edition game between my brand new Space Wolves and another friend's brand new Space Marines. Another experienced friend refereed the game and was teaching us how to play.

I had a 5 man unit of Wolf Scouts that outflanked and proceed to kill EVERTHING. Devastators in the backfield. Dead. Combat squad 1. Dead. Combat squad 2. Dead. 5 man tac squad. Dead. Chapter Master in terminator. Dead. At the end of the game I had a single Wolf Scout standing over the dead bodies of an entire Space Marine force.

Of course, this also means that the rest of my Space Wolves were possibly the most underperforming unit I've ever had as they killed only a couple of marines and mostly just died to shooting.

Darnath Lysander with Hammernators - inside a Land Raider Redeemer. Many have lamented for the sight of slowly moving nigh-unstoppable blob.

This award goes to one of my 10 man paladin squads, they have to this date accounted for some 500 Ork boys, a unknown number of Guardsmen, hordes of Warriors & genestealers pluss other horrid beasts. And the occational HQ hat happens to come in their way.
Their most recent streak of awesome was when they steamrolled a CSM lord in Termi armour and the horde of Khorne Beserkers that followed him.

Sorry for the repost, but another thing came to my mind - now that time has passed and my memory began to work again:

We had this 2v2 match with my friend against gaming store sellers. My Tactical Squad Sergeant held a squad of Wyches for three rounds, fisting them down one at a time. They dealt 16 wounds in total - all saved by this one stubborn man.

Nowadays, he's a Captain xD

Hammernators, with a Librarian, with Terminator armor, with a Storm Shield, With a Force Axe, and Iron Arm, all inside a Land Raider Redeemer w/ MM. Rolled a Necron player earlier today with it.

Back in the end of 5th edition, a squad of enemy terminators are moving up the board against some Tau Fire Warriors. When it come to the Tau Turn only one Fire Warrior has LOS and proceeds to fire his Pulse Rifle. He scores a hit then a wound, then the Terminator fails his armour save. First kill to Tau for that game.

demo charge over a 12 man squad of assault marines, with

sang preist, and libby, didn't scatter, and oddly, I didn't roll a

single 1.

wiped them out completley. 65 points killed somewhere in the

Just yesterday they came in and took so many AP1 and two shots in an apocalypse game, the guy was in disbelief when I rolled for my saves.
Him: What are you doing?
Me: Rolling my saves.
Him: They're AP1 and AP2 shots.
Me: So...?
Him: They ignore armour.
Me: Invulnerables!
Him: On?
Me: 3+. *offer to show codex*

It didn't help that we were allowed to re-roll ALL 1s...

If I sound like I'm being a condescending butthole, I'm not. Read my reply as neutrally as possible, please and thank you.

Lord Zhufor from the Vraks book always gets more than his points total back. Last big game he and his command squad took out two baneblades, Calgar, a Chaplain and a unit of Terminators.

I've had this as well, my Wolf Scouts are freaking badasses. I was bummed at the onset of 6th edition that they couldn't assault from reserves, thereby making my 5 Scouts + Meltabombs + Meltagun unit next to useless... and then I realized I could take 2x Plasma Pistol and Plasmagun. They're also pretty damn cheap so it's almost a waste for your opponent to shoot at them. In separate games they have:
-Multiple times they have wiped out Devastators and stolen the enemy quad gun and defense line; one time a single plasma pistol guy managed to kill an enemy sergeant on overwatch after having finished off the rest of his squad in assault
-Killed 2 Land Speeder Typhoons and then the 2 survivors wiped out a full squad of Tactical Marines
-Killed a Basilisk and blown the turret off of a LRBT
I'm pretty sure they've done more as well, but I just can't remember it all at the moment...

...how is that overperforming? 10 Paladins is like 600-some points, aren't they?

I accidentaly made a death star out of my nobs+warboss once. 10 nobs in eavy armor and a painboy giving them cybork bodies and fnp. Led by my fully kitted out warboss. In a looted wagon.
I felt like a giant douche crushing first an assault BA army and then a DA army without giving up a single kill point.. The DA player hasn't felt like playing since :/

A unit and a character.

1. A simple 10-man guard squad. Not vets, mind you. After a melta gun blew up a CCB with overlord inside, the explosion pinned the other 2 squads I planned on assaulting with. After a round (and a half? Two, maybe?) of combat, they were down to 6 guardsmen. I roll 3 hits, then 2 wounds. Oh, darn, he has weave! Armor save... Both fail! That was his assault phase, so my next turn began with the melta gunner exploding a zooming night scythe in 1 shot. Too bad I was nearly tabled that game...

2. Company commander, only upgrade is power fist. After my blob begins assaulting so orders are useless, he hunts down a cryptek w/ warriors and punches their teeth out. The blob is destroyed (not overran, oddly) by 2+ Lord and warriors, and the rest of his squad dies to the warriors, but he wipes The Lord in challenge, then overruns the remaining crons next assault phase. THEN, he hunts down a scarab base or two that chewed through my last tank, and the metal bugs eat knuckles. Game was already finished as a draw by this point, but we continued anyways. Commander was the only Guard left on the table, but he had reduced the Necrons to 3 immortals and 6 or 7 warriors, basically solo.

So today I ran a naked Seer Council - 2 Farseers, 7 Warlocks.
Final turn ( I was down 6-1 soon to be 8-1 so I conceded). My opponent threw three Wave Serpents, 5 Wraithguard, some Rangers and a Farseer at them for shooting. Went to ground for a 2+ cover save (area terrain plus shrouded). 37 Wounds, 1 kill from Mind War, one failed invuln save. They were not going down...

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Barry the grot.

Barry and his unit have taken down terminators, headshotted Calgar, tarpitted a Trygon (due to reeallly bad enemy rolling, to be sure.) and generally been about as badass as a 45 pt unit can conceivably be.

The also very rarely fail morale checks. I've had just badass Barry hang in a fight after his unit got toasted when anyone sane would have long since broken.

Give Barry a melta gun. It doesn't matter if regular grots can't use them, that's an order.

n the last chaos codex I used to spam summoned lesser demons. 50 for 650 points and their ran over most everything they hit.

I did have a single dreadnought destroy a 20 man strong unit of de wytches which was hilarious to me

He does have an unusual looking grot blasta (he's an ancient lead RT or 2nd ed model) . I can say its a Meltagun or KMB i guess.
