In a game against my friend, my 5 man scout squad with a heavy bolter managed to send his wyches packing and kill off a scourge squad while tanking fire from half of his army on a 4+ cover save (multiple dark lances, shredders, and pulse pistols, to name some of the weaponry used!). He went so far as to call them "punk scout s", which was rewarding enough for me, even though I lost. Has anyone else had a similar experience of a weak unit heavily outdo their points cost in damage/harassment?

Playing Tau Fish-o-Fury with all drones on fish. One two man squad of my free drones assaulted a 10 man terminator squad. WON! then proceeded to ESCORT THE SQUAD OFF THE BOARD! I have never seen my buddy so shocked. Free drones are my favorit unit of all time! I will never forget that as long as I game...

A single 5-man DW squad tabled (thanks to him forgetting he could regroup his assault termies) an opponent singlehandedly.

The sarge murdered an ic who only had paired lightning claws (some named dude, no idea who) while the 4 pfist swings killed 3 guys to only losing 1 to thammers, and they went on to shoot two squads of marines (some wierd chapter that didn't have atsknf) off the board for the tabling. Meanwhile, my scout squads and naked libby did nothing, and the other (tooled up) dw squad mishapped themselves to death. T'was wierd.

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can.

My last game had my Dakkafex kill more of my friends Dark Eldar than it had any right to. After dropping in, it and its spore accounted for a Wych squad, a Venom, a Bloodbride squad (due to some being killed by the exploding Venom and the rest by overwatch fire from twin linked Devourers), his Warlord (a Succubus in the Bloodbride squad, in the Overwatch firestorm), a Hellion squad, then half of another Wych squad before being brought down.

5th edition: Marbo.

It was a 750 point game against CSM. Top of turn 2, Marbo arrives and throws his demo charge at a huge pile of CSM, scattering but still killing a few - just enough for a morale check. They failed it. They ran just far enough for Marbo to still be in 6", meaning they had to roll to retreat again, causing them to run off the table.

All that my opponent had left after his super-tooled single squad of doom ran away was a couple of rhinos and a few regular CSM. My opponent conceded at the bottom of turn 2.

A 65 point unit tabled a 750 point army in a single shot.

Not a unit, but a single 36 point model. My Fire Dragon Exarch is a man of reknown at my local club.

In a game against a Deathwing army - he was the last surviving member of his squad following the deathwing assault. Nuked a Terminator Captain on turn 1 (precision shot), blew up a venerable dread on overwatch on the top of turn 2, killed another terminator in my turn. Turn 3 he immobilized a land raider, before assaulting and exploding it with Melta bombs. He survived the explosion, and could do nothing as the deathwing knights inside assaulted and killed him in the following turn.

This guy quite often is the last remaining member of his squad, and then proceeds to go all rambo. He occasionally goes on a quad gun, where he usually gets his value back unless targetted early on.

Same grot just keeps on rocking... I've had him since about 2nd ed.

His best kill was headshotting Marneus Calgar. One three-point model kills off a model 83 times his cost

Yeah, it's on the record too. I'm kind of surprised, in retrospect, that I bothered to write a battle report about it.

Back in 5th edition I had my full unit of 10 Nobz kitted out with their Waaagh! Banner, PK's, and Painboy alongside their Warboss w/PK after bailing out of a wrecked truck survive a combined charge of Abbadon with his terminator champion retinue, 7 plague marines, and 10 summoned daemons simultaneously. I lost only 1 Nob due to Abbadon who promptly died under a deluge of power klaw counter-attacks and I passed an unholy amount of cybork body and FNP saves. This ultimately allowed me to kill the rest of Abbadon's remaining terminators, the rest of the summoned daemons from fearless wounds and only 3 plague marines were left to bog me up in combat. There was practically only 2 squads of chaos marines left with the rest of my army being practically unscathed scampering all over the objectives. My opponent shortly after conceded the match after turn 3. Proudest moment of my 'ardest...'ardest boyz *wipes away a tear*

At a recent game in Chi-town, I had an opponent not only see his Fire Warriors survive a charge from a Tactical Squad, but defeat them, and then go on to do the same to a second squad!

Personally, I have had many great experiences with a single Space Marine surviving enemy fire against all odds, and then rallying to do something insanely heroic. (Blow up a Deff Dread in CC. Defeat a full squad of Necron Warriors to phase the army and win the game. Charge a warlord from behind and crush his skull like a grape.) Once a tactical squad is reduced to one or two members, I often find that their heroism factor goes through the roof.

A lone Plague Marine melted a Zooming Vendetta out of the sky, then the very next turn melted a Zooming Valkyrie down.

One of his buddies ate a LR Executioner's entire firing in the open, making 10 consecutive Feel No Pain rolls and turning the 'well there goes the squad' shooting into 'oh you mildly annoyed them.'

I have forgotten my old favorite - my Salamanders assault in 3rd edition. After being reduced to 1 model, he took it upon himself to assault a full squad of Kroot with Hounds.

He killed one and survived, winning combat. They fell back. He outpaced them, Overrunning them.

That model was actually converted to be my new sergeant when I got home, akimbo Plasma Pistols (representing the Master Crafting sergeants could do in 3rd edition Salamanders) and power sword.

My Lancetek has the horrible habit of wasting that single shot every turn. It's good, yes, but he never seems to hit with it, or when he does, he usually missed to wound on a 2+ . He's still useful as a Solar Pulse carrier, tho.

Anyway, first game in a tournament, my necrons vs a friend's Chaos allied with IG. My friend's vendettas enter the field, one of them carries 10 veterans filled with melta ready to obliterate my AB as soon as they deploy.

I shot everything at that damn vendetta, including the ADL Cannon, nothing would either hit it or if it did he would evade everything or it would just fail to pen. Until it was time to use the Necron squad that had the Lancetek. All the warriors missed but the Lancetek:

Rolls 6 to Hit.
Rolls 6 "to Wound"
Vendetta fails evade
Rolls 6 on the table
Vendetta crashes and burns and not a single veteran survived the crash.

I once had a unit of 10 Horrors sitting on an objective, my Blood Angels opponent decided to clear them with a charge from the Sanguinor.

Two turns latter and a whole bunch of ones for my opponent, only 3 Horrors were dead and the Sanguinor was cleaned off the table.

Recently (in 6th edition) I had a squad of 5 plague marines with 2 melta guns (no other upgrades) in a rhino: Explode a battle waggon from the front, assault and wipe out (in one turn) the remaining burna boys inside, polish off 5-6 lootas as they marched past the previous mentioned BW, charge and destroy grots holding the back objective, and as the champion killed the runtherd in a challenge he turned into a daemon prince. The game ended directly after but it was good to know the dark gods were smiling upon me that day.

well i've had many funny instances over the years...

a recent one was a 10 man CSM squad shot 8 rapid fire bolters, and 2 meltaguns into a 8/9 man CSM squad and a chaos lord...

they all died... much to our amusement

though the best lols comes from my DE venoms, everyone underestimates them they have killed loads of stuff:

big nids
little nids
marines
give terminators goosebumps...
give guardsmen a taste of their own firpower in return...
slaughtered orks wholesale
made plague marines wish they hadn't turned up

oh and the blokes inside? one blaster shot taken meanwhile leaning over the side casuses all sorts of problems, especially when you blow up a tank

In a tourny I had my purifier squad devestated down to 1 man with a psycannon. In his lone wolf state he survived 2 rounds of three tesla destructor fire probably about 34ish wounds. And every turn he punked another Anni Barge. My opponent landed 20 warriors behind him in cover and drowned me in wounds, but still the purifier persisted. I ask my opponent what they are going to do if he makes it into combat with the warriors and gets cleansing flame off and I just sweeping advance him. He politely laughed and said he would flip the table.

I roll my difficult terrain for movement, I'm about 7" away for the charge. He overwatches and gets 3 more wounds and the purifier still refuses to be extinguished. I make the charge range through difficult terrain ...

I fail the psyker test for cleansing flame and die in combat... haha

I need to return some video tapes.

Squad of 10 Fire Dragons bringing down a Reaver Titan in a turn of shooting before the Reaver accounted for ANY points himself.

Squad with Waveserpent was roughly 350 points, brought down a 1450 point model in a turn of shooting on turn 2.

What made this even better is that the guy showed up for a 3k Apoc game with 3 plasticard Titans(one Reaver, two Warhounds and a TechMarine was his whole list).

In the speed freek version of the old ork codex, you used to be able to run a deathkopta with a mek who could take a burna. I think it ran 45 points.

In those days, the burna did 2d6 pen vs vehicles, in addition to being both a flamer and a power weapon. Plus, all models were scoring.

So, I'm in this tournament, playing against an IG army. This one kopta kills a unit of lascannons, a unit of ratling snipers, a LR demolisher, and still has time to turbo-boost back and claim the winning objective.

CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT!

Back when I played Blood Angels in 5th ed, when the combination of invul saves and Feel No Pain from a nearby Sanguinary Priest led my Reclusiarch to withstand some 108 Ork attacks in close-combat before succumbing. It tied up his massive mob alone for just long enough for my Tactical squads to grab the objectives.

In 6th, I've only ever had middling success with my Basilisk, until one game where it hit a balcony two squads were standing on and managed to wipe out 2 tooled-up Sternguard squads with a single shot.

He killed- Harker, a Warp Spyder exarch through Overwatch, a stealth suit commander in a ruin, a Sister Superior, three Guard Vets, two fire warriors, a Warp Spyder and a Sterguard Sergeant.

2. A combat squad of Ultramarines killed 120 ork Boyz, Grotsnik and Zogwort. The look of horror on my enemies face!

6 fire dragons whiff in shooting and kill 1 terminator on 5 terminators+ Belial. Rest of army puts 2 wounds on Belial. They charge fire dragons. Fire dragons punch 3 terminators to death in the first round of combat, then the exarch survives to punch another terminator down. Belial is suck there with 1 wound looking around confused at the dead terminators, charges the nearest vehicle, and dies to dangerous terrain from the mission. We each sat there, shaking our heads, and even called the tourney orginizer over to tell the story how 6 fire dragons killed belial and terminator squad nearly single handedly.

I've seen an aspiring champion cultist zombie kill a Noise Marine Champion and a Chaos Sorcerer on consecutive rounds of combat.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.
