Finally got cracking with this months challenge entry, Shalaxi Helbane ... the best and worst one night stand you'll ever have!

Cheers guys!
Managed to get a few hours in this evening, trying some iridescence out on the legs that I may or may not keep.
Nice to do a model with big eyes, so not just a black dot

The legs look pretty good to me, but the eyes are insane! Great job

Thanks gobert, I seem to have missed your previous post so thanks again for your comments
Quick update, although not pictured I've also made a bit of progress on the limbs, probably stick them on tomorrow.

Looking good. The gold accents work great.

Cheers youwashock.

Trying out a crushed velvet effect on the gown, needs more layers and a bit more contrast but I'm warming to it

Sweet texture. Love the color, too.

It certainly has the right sort of look for velvet, great effect! The tail certainly has an iridescence to it as well

Wow, great effect!

Went trough your thread in one go and I'm amazed.
It's funny how you seem to have packed years worth of learning into just a couple of months.
"I'll try some of this NMM" > *produces a top shelf quality mini*

Will surely keep following your progress!

Thanks for the comments!

Ezki - furlough has been good for my progression! and I took on board quite early the thin your paints mantra

Although I'm not going to do the whole model in NMM I decided the blade looks a bit dull in straight metallics so I've NMM'ed just the blade, it is massive after all. It's still a bit rough but you get the idea.

Shield also looked a bit bland in straight metalic ...

That blade looks ace and the shield is also amazingly done! This will be a worthy contender for the painting comp.

Cheers guys!

The old adage of measure twice cut once applies to painting too! I had marked up the shield on the model so that the bright line would be horizontal ... somehow I ended up 120 degrees out :( ... so I sucked it up dried my eyes and reached for the isopropyl alcohol and started from scratch.

This time however I took a few pics through the process for anyone who is interested, took about 2 hours to redo.

Oh. That's sad. The re-do looks fabulous, as well, but it is hard to have that happen. Good job pushing through with the repair!

I was tempted to buy a Keeper of Secrets because of how pretty the model and you've really made it look awesome with the weapon and shield. Is it all NMM or does the head dress have some metallic paint?

Your work with light is just fantastic.

You put more effort in that shield than I do into whole miniatures Sorry for having to redo it, but the result speaks for itself. Mockup looks great!

Woah.

Holy , Batman. You have some incredible stuff here.
Your work with light is outstanding. Contrasting highlights, competing OSL effects, glowing runes, boiling liquids,

I hope you got a billion dollars for that Abaddon. The light from his suit, sword, etc. are fantastic effects.

Roboute's sword is awesome.

The visible levels of liquid in the vials of Bile and the Acolyte, nice touch.

The Tech Priest is phenomenal, worthy of being your profile pic for sure. A floppy disc on his belt would be something akin to a Sororitas wearing a skull or bone relic, wouldn't it?

Szeras has such a solid level of color. That blade is one of the best on your blog.

Haarken's highlighting and NMM effects are inspiring. Literally, I'm going to try some on my Librarian I'm working on right now.

Then the sword and shield of Shalaxi. Don't down play how good they are. Because they are.

Shalaxi is progressing very nicely indeed. That's going to get a lot of votes come poll time

Techpriest_ - Thanks! and no most of the gold bits are TMM

Viterbi - Thanks, It does feel like every part of this mini is a character of its own!

Gwyn chan 'r Gwyll - that's definitely relative, some peoples work makes mine look like it was done with a carrot!

DJJazzyJeff - Welcome to the thread! and you are way too kind. Good luck on the Librarian, I'll be checking!

Maharg - Cheers, I hope so

Claws done, really feels like the last stretch now. If I hadn't had to spend 6 hours at A&E in the early hours of Saturday morning I would have finished but hey ho.

Time in A&E is never fun, hopefully it wasn’t too serious.

Shelaxi is looking amazing, like others have said the light work is really impressive. The vortex at her feet is really cool, neat idea, well executed!
