Shalaxi finished, that last stretch was heavy on the gem stones! but I'm pretty pleased with the outcome

He/She turned out great! The jewelry makes for some fabulous detail. The claws are really well done. You really made the most of all the different surfaces/textures.

That really is quite a lot of gems! All really well done too, great job. The stripes on the tail are really cool too

Cheers guys, with Shalaxi finished I've squeezed a commission in before starting Mortarion for the comp.

It's nice to have a crack at models I've done before and I've reduced the painting time from 3 weeks to 3 days

Did Bile in a more box arty way this time, not sure I had the blending skill the first time i did him.

And loving my new cutting mat!!

Amazing work on Shalaxi and bloody hell those commissions look nice. Good to know that the "practice" with your own models helped knock them out so fast.

Cheers guys! Well pleased with a 3rd place on the monthly comp
Need to get Mortarion started for this month's comp, but seem to be getting more and more commissions, giving some serious thought to a career change!
Morty is defiantly next on the desk and I have a shiny new airbrush to practice with
I do like painting that snail!

The liquid levels in all of Bile's vials and syringe barrels are such a game-changer. Those details really sell the figure for me.
I do miss that wicked red glow around Abaddon's head, but really nice work nonetheless.

DJ - funnily enough loosing the red glow was one of the only stipulations the guy had.

Roughed out some shades with the airbrush, need to work on reducing the speckles. Also did a small test of the NMM i'm going for.

Mortarion is looking fabulous already. I know it’s just the undercoat, but I’m quite liking how striking the whitish face is

. . .

. . . you should've turned down the commission on principle. No Abaddon for you!

Thanks for the comments, and DJ, the customer is always right!

Made a bit more progress and here's a quick mock up ...

Nice contrast between the Death Guard Green and the cloth. Very excited to see you tackle his wings.

Time to raise this thread from the dead!
Still on a break from Mortarion, after failing to make last months challenge dead line I lost motivation, but he is on the soon to be finished list

Finally got around to finishing the Dark Apostle who has been languishing half done for months

Also had another crack at Roboute and employed my new skills and experience to do what I think is a much better job!

This months haloween entry is Be'lakor which I'm kind of chuffed with, used an airbrush to rough out the OSL and decided to go with NMM on all the metals with varying degrees of success.

Solid work, As always.

The dripping, molten lava/ichor? coming off the book the dark apostle is holding aloft is my favorite detail. Your lighting techniques never cease to amaze.

Guilliman is looking really nice. So much detail in that model.

Not being British, I'll admit I did google "chuffed". Wanted to make sure I was following you.
I would be chuffed indeed to have results like that.

Love the apostle trio, very cool purple and amazing flames on the apostle himself.
And very nice mood shots of Be'Lakor. Amazing OSL that works very well with the subdued color palette.

You've got a wonderful thread full of amazing minis. Colour me a big fan of your Tzeentch Be'lakor!

That's a great update. The Void Dragon is such a lovely sculpt and you've done it justice!
With Be'lakor it is amazing what another paintjob can do for the mood of a model. Thinking back on the subdued one, this is an entirely different style, but still fitting.
Is the vampire lord model plastic or resin? Was eyeing that some time ago, it is such a characterful mini and great job on it!

I've recently redone the Primaris Apothecary and by recently I mean today I tried out my new favourite method of wet blending and am pretty pleased with the results, my original attempt last June was really neat but a bit paint by numbers, this one I feel I have given a bit of character ;D
Original ...

Oh that's really interesting, to tint the alternative-character colours with the main chapter colours. Makes it clearly an Apothecary while tying it into the main colours! I wonder if that would work as well for Chaplain Black (maybe), Librarian Blue (unlikely, it's already blue) and Techmarine Red (unlikely, mixing blue and red?)

See what's on my painting table Now painting: Gravis Captain

Ha! nice idea but I think the colours it lends itself to are limited

In my continuing mission to get faster I've done this Librarian today in 8 hours from sprue to varnish, and again wet blend really cuts down on time, no need to use shades and can mostly get away with just 2 colours.

After many months of shelf time it is Mortarion's turn to get finished!
Working on the wings, the left one is just based with the airbrush and right is pretty much finished besides some detailing
