I generally agree, but I think people's opinions are formed on what happened with the KOW KS. There Mantic were flying by the seat of their pants and had no idea of how successful it would be. As a result a lot of the "concept art" was barely a scribble on a napkin five minutes before announcing a goal. There was no real thought or planning with those concepts it was just an idea of what the models may look like, and barely any of them did in the end.

Forward to Dreadball and most of the concepts really followed through in the final design. Then onto Deadzone and an awful lot remains to be seen especially with the likes of the Forgefathers and Asterians, but most are pretty much bang on, such as in the faction boosters. The only one that is different is Dr Simmonds, and that seems to have been an effort to make her more plaguey.

Onto Mars Attacks and it Mantic really seem to want to match concept/renders to final design for the product. The one thing I am dubious about is the "bendy-ish" plastic being used for the infantry.

My opinion is indeed formed by KoW, but also the recent dreadball issues- my team is in the mail and I still don't know what material, or mix of materials, it will be.

Add to that the fact that Deadzone production pieces may not be shown until after this ends, and the still fairly large amount of concept art in the above graphic, and I'm staying away.

I just went and looked at the troll art from KoW. How can a sculpt be so different? You give the sculptor the art to work from, and...? Arena Rex, Mierce, etc make sculpts that match the art, but there's still way too much art in that graphic for me to trust that Mantic will deliver, based on past experiences.

And again, where are the Deadzone production pics promised well before this one ended? Ugh... many folks are done taking Mantic on faith, they've got to show they can produce on the last campaign before they back another.

You know, given the whole crossover thing with IDW, Mantic should see if they can make some Ironhide conversion parts for the truck. It's a pretty close match to the Ironhide from the Bay movies, so it wouldn't need much.

For reference, here is what the "recommended loadout" $150 pledge level is looking like, roughly on a par with where Deadzone finished... around 20 less minis and half the terrain, but with three rather nice vehicles included instead.

- 65 minis. (20 Martians, 5 Martian Marines, 5 Stealth Martians, 6 Science Division, Martian General... 10 US infantry, 9 heroes, 3 KS exclusive heroes, 6 novas vira)
- Two medium vehicles.. Saucer is 88mm diameter, Truck is 140mm long (GW Rhino for reference is 115mm).
- One large vehicle, Martian Stompy Robot is around the same height as a GW Tau Riptide, or halfway between a 15mm and 28mm leviathan crusader.
- 4 terrain sprues, one accessory sprue.
- 4 paper mats, 1 rubber mat.
- Rulebook, Expansion rulebook.
- Counters, dice, card deck, trading cards.

That's just their suggestion though, you can pick your own and get up to 120 minis/ no vehicles/ less terrain for your $150 if you want.

Mantic are doing the usual post-KS backer survey bit right? Because I really don't want to drop more than my $140 early bird on it this month with Xmas and the associated spending coming up, but I might be tempted into changing it to $300 if the survey deadline is some time in December or January.

The deals being offered now are certainly daft in terms of content for money, just so much. The main things that interest me are the Saucer/Big stompy robot but I am more than happy to wait for retail on those in spite of the increased cost.

Surprised that the total has actually dropped since I went to bed, just goes to show how tight most peoples hobby budget are in the current economic climate.

Yep, they're doing a backer survey. I think just for one wave this time - aiming for August means that they can get everything out in one go, and hopefully a bit earlier than planned.

So far, the only things that are "pledge during the Kickstarter only" are the alt Regent at $350, and the diorama at $500.

The qualiity of the DZ figs shown in the other thread is top notch and if the standard is maintained for MA then I will have no complaints and it is tempting to try to push a little more cash into my pledge.

The KS offer is already great value but that $500k preview makes it so hard to resist - the bugs, Martian Science Division etc.

Been an up and then almost static ride so far but can see this taking off over the last 48 hours.

With those bugs being $20 for three, I may have to jump my pledge up from about 1 to 21. Plus money for Blaine and Edwin. Crap, and I wasn't going to get in on this one!!

I haven't seen any possible scenarios explained yet re: saucer or truck. Or if there is - it's not really been shown/made clear

Some things can be reasonably assumed I think, and this is one of them. Every model they're selling here, will be very much usable with the game (Dreadball aside ofc). Doesn't every mini have a points cost, so if you want to use one outside a scenario designed around that mini, you just juggle the points a bit?

Humans can get in a saucer too, and we don't need a robot, we have a flatbed! ; p

Only problem with the bugs is, they are not yet unlocked/reached. I guess you can put in your money now to help them get unlocked, but watch the total the last few hours of the project so you are not pledged for something that does not unlock at the end.

I'm hoping even if Mantic aren't able to immediately fund the Giant Bug models they will still attempt to produce them in the future. The concept and idea is so cool it has to be used, and I'm somewhat doubtful Mantic will be able to reach 500,000 in time.

I hear you. But pledging $ for bugs, and not getting the bugs you were hoping to spend that $ on bugs because they don't get unlocked wouldn't be good.

Well, they usually get a ton of extra cash post-survey anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much about a small selection of extra stuff making it to retail (certainly bugs and truck upgrade if nothing else I would imagine).

Pulling pledges because the total is going backwards doesn't make sense although that does seem to be the reason people are doing it.

Loka KS went through a similar process, people dropped in droves when they weren't sure if the 4 factions would be funded and then repledged later when they were.

Deadzone didn't fund something... peackekeeper enforcers was it? during the kickstarter, but Mantic is doing them anyway. I don't doubt that they'll do the bugs anyway if it's the next goal (ie. if it doesn't keep sliding).

I increased my pledge to the comic con $300 + $10. One click bundle + dreadball team and the 3 decks. After seeing the Deadzone stuff I'm again confident this will be good fun and good value.

It was the peacekeeper armor enforcers. I think they also decided they could fund another terrain sprue after the fact too.

Looks like they're adding in mini stretches for beating dollar values in our road to recovery. First up science division leader followed by an upgrade to novas vira.

Deadzone manage to do the peacekeepers and some changes to the scenery post campaign because of the pledge manager funds, wouldn't expect MA to do the same automatically. Given the robot was meant to be at 500, step back and consider that they might have actually moved some of this stuff forward.

Anyway, they're chucking out mini-goals int he comments, an upgrade to the science Division was first, upgrading an SD infantryu to a Unit commander.

$477,500 is apparently some tripod weapon for the Novas Vira.
