I actually meant the main turret so that I could fake the funk on a modular version of all three variants.

This guy has a plastic injection molding machine and is making generic 28mm wall plates
"I get a lot of requests for 28mm stuff and I figured I would have a go at some 28mm wall flats. Here is one wall section and the roof panel. They measure 4"square and as you can see are pretty much for kit-basher types."
I have been following him and the perils of owning a high heat / high pressure plastic machine, these look fun.

An now for some Oil Paint Weathering
-NEVER use the same brushes for oils as you do acrylics, ever
-Odorless thinner is much more expensive than turpentine, but safer and it really is odorless!
I buy the absolute cheapest el-cheapo set of oil colors I could find, all you need is black and brown,
mix them together
Add thinner
The coat of Future (or any gloss coat) below allows you to just touch the brush to the rivet, and the oil wash instantly flows around them and into panel lines and such recesses and crevasses, like a wash, but with extra badassery!
When the thinner evaporates, the oil paint is still moveable, take a brush and simply move it around the shiny surface, as much or as little as you'd like, make streaks, such as these, go crazy. It will probably be 24 hours at a minimum before the oil paint cures, loong working time,

wow... that looks very interresting dave! i only really ever saw neil doing stuff with oil paints iirc... but that looks really cool! what did you chuck out for the odorless thinner? and the gunky wash of oilpaints looks like it should work...and the pics proved just that!...

but...turpentine...thought it was a good substitute when you ran out of booze... bet it is even cheaper than moonshine ^^
(only joking of course as turpentine could really cause blindness!!! kids don´t do that at all!!!)

nice weathering Dave! I want to try that too! Seriously, 24 hours to wait though? I can hardly keep from touching the models for 10 mintues after I airbrush!
