lol...no
Did I mention it can transport 40 guardsmen? even if it were Immobilized, yep it would almost count as a fortification, if it were not a Superheavy tank that would be targeted by everything my opponent had

if all else fails... you can hit your oponent with the tank... a bruise is guaranteed^^
and i see... corroded pipes...check!^^
the more often you say that it contains 40 guardsmen the more i think of this:
and with catachans even the smell would be fitting

That used to be a tactic a player from my Necromunda league used a lot, and it worked all too well. He played Van Saars, and their suits were all flat black. Their weapons were flat black. They all had flat black hair. Their bases were... come on, you can guess it.... yes! Flat black. Skin and fiddly bits were painted so he met the '3 color' rulke, but 95% of each model was flat black. The benefit of that was my terrain was mostly flat black because I was more focused on the building it, base it black, maybe a light Boltgun Metal drybrush if iI had time. I was mostly focused on the newsletter, battle reports, and painting my Orks for 40K.
So during the game he'd get his models into place, move a couple, and then question a random rule (not one in play at the moment) or he'd walk over to another table to see how things were going there, nothing rude or out of place, just distracting attention away from the board. The combination of intentional distraction and 'superior camouflage' oft times resulted in someone getting a Plasma Pistol or Melta Gun in the face from an invisible Van Saar, or they would charged by at least 2 models and get beaten down to a pulpy Out Of Action. Illegal? Not at all. A bit less sporting than could have been? Absolutely. We had a chat a few times about it, and he eventually drybrushed a dark gray highlight to catch the edges of the models. End result? Nothing really changed. It wasn't until the other players *really* started paying attention all the time that made him change his tactics, but by them his gang was so powerful they were killing machines that frightened even our Spyrer player.
Good time.

So.... I need to build and paint some crew to ride in the back- I have an OOP Catachan Tank Rider, obviously I'll need two guys manning the rear stubbers, any thoughts on additional poses? I will not model 40 guardsmen, obviously, but that big-ass fighting platform needs some bodies.

Dave, a quick Q. Do you think the GD judges will rule you out, due to the spotty primer that left texture over everything?

for catachan´s you´d be wrong woth freehand anyway... wouldn´t look that fluffy in my book...
as for poses... definatly some smoking fella... a big cig in his hand...
maybe if you are feeling ambitiuos...
a guncleaning guy...
one that is sharping his cutlass...
you could do a combo of medic and a willing test object...
maybe one commander leaning on the railing yelling and spit fllying through the air...
if more needed i could think up some more...

Dried Mud!
Spray a section of track with thinner, then while it is wet, turn on the fan, dip brush in weathering powder, then tap brush so fan blows powder up and gets stuck on the thinner. Then spray more thinner on top and watch the powder dissolve into a really cool wash

Well Vik, the powder isn't fixed yet, the thinner evaporated and it is just sticking loosely. The treads wil be drybrushed, but first a spray of future with some matt varnish mixed in to dull it down a notch.

Nice dirty work there Dave. It's yellowishness however blends in a bit with the camo, so it may force the judges to look rather hard to see it as something other than the camo?

No LDD, thinner is just to make it wet. Think of powder as pigment without a medium.it's fixed in place with future or varnish, or some sort of clear medium that will cure it onto the model. You can also mix them into paints if you want to. yep...zinge has scored another one^^
and i ment the list i made with suggestions of catachan minis that you could do for your rank crew...
as for poses... definatly some smoking fella... a big cig in his hand...
maybe if you are feeling ambitiuos...
a guncleaning guy...
one that is sharping his cutlass...
you could do a combo of medic and a willing test object...
maybe one commander leaning on the railing yelling and spit fllying through the air... Automatically Appended Next Post: ups
