I dont want to contradict whats estabilished canon, but have my guys exist at the same time as it, if you know what I mean.

In all honesty, I saw it when you first created the blog and thought it was amazing then, but I was just angry at was I thought (correctly) was a lie, with you saying you hadn't painted before. In retrospect, I've been missing out! I'm glad you owned up - frankly, I'm all about the honesty - you should be proud of yourself and as the other Dakkite's have shown, we don't mind. We appreciate your honesty and we love your work.

I think the Blood Ravens have a chapter master who was featured in the games, didn't they?

That would be Kyras, with Angelos probably taking over at some point due to HERESY on the part of said Chapter Master.

I am jealous of your painting skills, I've started a blood ravens army myself! Captain Indrick Boreale and his spess mahreens.
Nah, I have no idea what captain/company I'm making, but I don't want the 3rd or 4th.

Also, I'm making my blood raven honor guards from the blood angel Death company/Sanguinary Guard I got on my 17th birthday a couple of days ago since I've sworn to the emperor to never use metal models.

Almost forgot, unlike you I'm not making a chapter master (Azariah Kyras), in his place I've chosen Apollo Diomedes, captain of the chapter honor guard.

Sanguinary Guard is looking great, very rich colors. I kind of like it with all that black! Might consider keeping them that way as it is... raven-y?

So everyone knows,

The Sanguinary Guard are /NOT/ part of the Blood Ravens.

I am also collecting a seperate Blood Angels army.

Due to the similiar names however, I think I will have to start a new thread for the Blood Angels, so people dont keep getting them confused

Either way, still liking the black!

This is a really great log, so much to comment on, i really like the idea of the Ravens council and then using them as grey knights. I actually had a similar idea, mine was more using the Chapter master as a Grey knight grandmaster and then hi bodyguard would be grey knight terminators.

Really like you chapter master conversion, great ven dread and good standard of painting throughout. Going to have to keep a close look on this topic and see if you have any more ideas i can steal

I didn't like the "new" Calgar mini at all, but your conversion and paint job make it so, so much nicer. Fantastic!

Considering Calgar is an intricate model, did you have a tough time with carving the head? I'm thinking of doing the same, but am a bit wary.

i don't think that the head is attached. i could be wrong but i don't think it is.
i thought of using him as a Belial conversion for my Deathwing

No his head isnt attached, its such a cool model you can use it for so much, personally i think he would make a very cool Tzeentch lord as well!

Hmm i think i might need to buy a couple of those models when i get paid I wonder how easy it would be to convert him with a pair of lightning claws but keep the storm bolters..

I have Gimp 2 how did you do that? i have been trying to figure it out but so far no luck :/

i think to make lightnin claws it would be easy. just take a claw and shave off the powerfist parts and re glue the blades. or just make your own blades with plasti card

Its a really good program, its far easier to use than photoshop and really makes a huge difference!

Yeah i was just playing around with it and it seems easy to use once you know what your doin
i guess my thing is that i need the right backround to take my pictures in. i haven't figured out how to change the background in the program yet though but im sure ill figure somethin out

I found using white produced the best results with a very bright light source and using the camera to detect the white balance.

I love this army! I need to get my hands on some Blood Angels Stuff. Because my Chapters New Symbol is a Hawk with the Crusader Sign on it.

Hey all.

Thanks for all the continuing great comments.

I apologize for the lack of posts, I am currently moving from 4 years living in Japan to back to Perth, Australia.

So I am insanely busy with packing, shipping etc of items, and I have no time to paint (most of my models being packed now anywayz or already sent home via freight shipping.

I will be resuing my normal blogging again from July 29th.

Here are some things to look foward to when I get home.

* Photos of every model taken with a proper light box.

* an entire army shot of the blood ravens done so far.

*Shots of my finished 1000 pt Alpha Legion force that won Perth Conflict 2005.

*Shots of my Eldar.

*Some more cool projects I have already started and will finish when I get back these will include,

*A video painting guide to painting Blood ravens and Sanguinary guard, plus a number of other usfull painting tutorials for space marines, both in video and photohraphic form.

*some video blogs of my taking the blood ravens to various tournaments around Perth.

*will be starting my warriors of chaos again for 8th edition
