made some more work and clothed the sponsons...
note the bigger surface in the middle...that rectangular surface...guess what i have in mind for that? a cheese union jack will be shortly sporting both sides of the tank when finished...our praetorian warriors are of the more subtlie persuasion...^^




the current viewpoints might get torn apart yet agian as the superglue and the can and the cardboard somehow don´t want to stay together that well...dunno why really...

well there will also be some minor tasks for this piece here as stated above...a falg, then some further plating where needed and then of course the riveting up...

vik, perhaps household cement would hel;p keep the parts together if the superglue is having issues? like a rubber cement or gorilla glue?

the problem your having vik, is one that i myself had with that Ork fightta. the way i fixed it is that i now place the super glue onto the cardboard and let it soak in, and dry. That stiffens up the cardboard alot, but also makes it easier for the board to then be glued onto the plastic. you should also use a pen or a sharpie marker pen to outline the inside and the outside of the viewport before glueing, and then score the plastic inside the outline, this will also give the glue more depth to hold onto.

Now, on to the compliment. Sponson is looking really nice brah, excellent job so far, but methinks the Union Jack is gonna give you headaches if you try to hand paint it.

I have a sneaky suspicion that he is gonna cut strips for it and glue the union jack in place. Then paint it.

Sebastion makes absolute sense. No matter how good your glue is, the pieces are going to fall apart if they have layers, that don't have much stability, like cardboard. Try the soaking.

i don´t know of those suggested glues... i ahve on and off thought of getting me liguide nail to make some more difficult glueissues happen...hmmm....
as for the union jack flag... stripes could be done that way...
i already did for the airship a version of the union jack that was made up of cardboard pices cut to shape...

i had for thsi thought of scrapping the flag inside the cardboard... it is rather thick material... either scrapping it in or as you suggested layering...depends on how things work out...

as for the later painting of the jack...it is a rather simpler scheme as the army is fighting for this flag...with or without the "V" in the middle...

as coincidence wants it to be i already had those links in my linklist for this and many further projects saved a time ago^^ but you are absolutly right these are amazing templates all over...some of the paperhammr models i have already printed out but never came to building them... and i already tried to make a Landraider long ago, but this project as so many recently got postponed to some time in the future...

place the viewport on the gunner turret and then draw around the viewport with the pen, then do the same for the inside of the viewport. This will give you an outline of the viewport on the turret. then to score it, it's just like coloring in a coloring book, you do your best to stay inside the lines. scoring is taking your razor blade and cutting shallow grooves into the plastic in a criss-cross formation. this technique is used quite often as it provides a more stable grip for glue since it has a more uneven surface to grip to. It is most often used with metal to metal glueing, but i also do it often with plastic to plastic. can't really explain it any simpler than that except to show you pics, and i can't do that till the weekend.

okok, i think i got it... the relation to cardboard was what confused me... i read that sort of treatment with metal minis... scratching to make uneven surface to give glue something to better hold on to... understood^^

hey mate the flag is almost a year old design... you had commented already before^^ lol

but being so full of mustard again for this project i added the flag to the sponson today...and also added a coat of PVA over the whole bit...and treated it with a brush to make it look later real worn...

now we cant have the chaos star around here... the victorian emire is strictly gentlemen territory...no other clerical or otherwise religious orientated theocracys allowed...

i hope the juices (only glue for that matter^^) will be flowing...this will be a crucial moment when i start this endeavor...

as for some small part of my fluff... till now i still havn´t came around to write some more...is hidden in the airship thread of mine... for the love of "whoever is listening above" i cant direct you to a specific page tho...^^
