@Miss Dee: Always I'll make you a grim Weeper over the festive season in return if you like.
@DSS: Glad you like him! I wanted to try to echo the pad logo in his design. I'm really pleased with the lower half, which is a bit of a plastic skeleton.
Not much progress to report: some work on gk razorback builds, that's about it. Hopefully, post Xmas, will pick up pace again.

Pah. We have a Lego police boat that floats, now )
I notice in the photo of the mek the arm with the gs sleeve (which needs smoothed, I grant you) looks disproportionate, which is odd as it doesn't in reality. Quite want a pointing arm for the other and to modify the shoota a bit with gubbinz.
Also, wife got me a ridiculously shiny new camera for Xmas, so might even get half decent pics from me. Or not
Tomorrow is a quiet day in the house. Perhaps optimistically, I hope to do some painting. Aye, right.

Subject: The Bloggit: update 31st Dec: GMS retrospective, defil-ork, =][= retinue; year in review (pic heavy)
So, a happy and prosperous - and p&m filled - 2012 to all.
I have had a great 2011 on dakka, all in all.
Too many folk to thank and mention - hats off to all of you who've helped with the corpses of chaos, which are getting exclusive attention in the new year - but a couple that I must:
Gitsplitta - if only for the legend of his wife's spare thanksgiving turkey (for sandwiches).
Yggdrasil & BashTheBosh - for obligingly not getting blown up.
Monkeytroll - truly demented convertion inspiration and supply.
Miss (or should that be Mrs?) Dee - for being an inspiration on a more personal level.
Knightley - for making me raise my game.
So many others I could, and should mention, but I am drinking beer and ignoring family!
But, some pics.
First, GMS-s:
A post-Xmas present from the mighty Bash:
Festive, no?
My very first gms, from the king, Wm360:
Pride of purple in the cabinet. Great reference piece.
Something different. Knightley did me a mentor; I wasn't 100% on the weathering so toned it down some (no disrespect - and some guilt, for he's a far more accomplished painter than I)
A reminder of his outstanding work, untainted by me (well, except for the base)
A counts as Marines Errant special from the peerless endtransmission , the man who taught us to love oil stain weathering
And this bad boy from HowardATreesong, marking a move in to =][= for gms-ing:
In the process of moving into D-style base. Cos I'm awkward.
And on that subject, been playing with old figs:
Pig iron heads on old confrontation figs.
Playing with a banisher idea, in lieu of sisters of battle:
Drudges as arco-flagellants:
Also, some work on the chaos mk1 rhino for the storm raven's base:
FW razorback mm turret added to lrr
And a las-back, for the fun of it:
Have a great Mayan apocalypse, y'all,
Graven

Looks mint man, with the added base and your fine adjustments (and they are fine!) the Mentor Legion captain looks ace!

Had offered to do you a Weeping Angel? But I shall naturally dig out what packs I can.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Sorry about the lack of posts/progress; various family stuff involving my folks has preoccupied the new year season and will continue to do so, I suspect.
I have tidied my man-cave and got my paints into a single accessible form so hopefully paint progress is more likely.
On the build front, I modified my vendetta - wing-art envy:
I've ordered some nail-art transfers as well, as part of ongoing plan to vamp up my IG.
Also some work on the base for the GK SR:
And with SR atop it:
Adios, and C&C as ever appreciated,
Graven

Love that base. Have you thought of giving it battle damage consistent with some of the big guns on the nose of that monstrosity?? As if the Storm Raven had flown up, strafed it (wrecked it) and was now passing over... you might even be able to add some smoke coming out of the hatch in order to disguise the pedestal a bit more.

That Orky Defiler really fits the bill and Im loving the top hat on the Ork.
"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Nice stetson on the grot - WestWind? I have a couple of 54mm 'cowboy hats' that seem to work well on orks, hadn't thought of grots. Mek is coming along very nicely as well.
Loving that base too, great idea to have the support coming out of the hatch.

Cheers bud. Yup, I've not damaged up the rhino yet - it's not glued in, it's designed to slide off for painting. I've also yet to add a Solar Griffon marine into its jaws. I'm planning on having various body parts reaching out from within also. I hope to do smoke effect but the only time I tried with cotton wool it looked pretty rubbish. Suggestions, anyone?

Cheers matey. My favourite bit is the exhaust, which is an old necromunda stubber barrel

Ooh, good idea on the 54mm for orks; tried Lego, far too big. Those on the grots are from Black Cat Bases; great for really random accessories, too. Defil-ork still needs cables, but I found 4 sprues of (I think) baneblade wheels so they've been cut from struts and will go on over the chaos icons soon as.

Really happy with how it looks, yeah. Felt sacrilegious cutting the bottom out a mk1, but there we are, no point being precious.
So, as you may know, very stormy weather here in Scotland; my folks have lost a chunk of their roof, so they're staying with us, which is pretty stressful. I'll get back to geek work soon as I'm able.
