Honestly, I'm not sure if he was still there. He probably was though. I'll be heading back tomorrow though. Hopefully someone liked my stuff enough to buy a few items.

Well, you'll be disappointed to hear, your Hive Tyrant is still kicking around the consignment case. Most of my stuff sold, which means I'll be able to buy the Mechanicus Robots and the Kataphron Destroyers. I've got to wait until Tuesday though, which is kind of annoying since the guy that signed the paperwork needs to be present. Bah.

Until then, I'll continue filling out my Mechanicus ranks with non GW models. This weekend, i finished my old sculpt Syntha Pointman. I'll be using him as a heavily armored Servitor.

I also painted what may be the most exciting mini every! A FRIGGIN' DUMPSTER!.

Yeah, that's the Bones dumpster. It's fairly large, actually. And a very nice, hard plastic with an opening lid. One of these days I'll also pick up a shipping container.

The shipping containers are great, I have a pair and quite like them. I would rather they be a little cheaper at retail.. but they aren't horrible, especially discounted and used to pad out orders to make free shipping thresholds.

Your robot looks sweet! Bright and killy.

And the weathering on that dumpster is great, looks like it's been around for awhile, and nobody's been kind to it.

That UAMC trooper looks to have a bad day turning the corner of the dumpster

I've been getting sidetracked with a combination of X-Com (nearly beat it) and season 2 of Agents of Shield on Netflix. But, I am almost done with my non-GW combat servitor reinforcements! Just three more to go.

My Magos also got some heavy armor reinforcements this week.

Once I'm through with the servitors and the Skitarii Vanguard, then I'll start messing with those. Speaking of the Vanguard, I've decided that I'm going to only do five of them, so I have one more rifleman to do. After that, I'm going to make the remaining five into a five man Ranger team. That way I get both units without having to buy another box.

With my servitors, I'll be placing them into three class types: low, medium, and high quality. So, when I stat these up for Song of Blades and Heroes, the low quality types will be getting the crappiest stats and will be classed as rabble. That means they're pretty much low cost, low quality fodder troops that you just throw at your opponent. For my low quality servitors, I'll be using these handsome fellows.

Cryx Scrap Thralls, obviously. I got them for under a buck from Brookhurst. If I can snag a couple more in the future, even better. I figure that with these guys, these are pretty much industrial servitors nearing the end of their operational limit, soon to be rendered down and recycled for newer servitors. Hardly more than walking corpses at this point. I doubt they'd stand up to much, but with dual power fists, they can probably take something down with them.

My mid level quality you've already seen in the form of the naked lady cyborg. I've got a second that I'm working on now. I figure I can pretty much stat them as regular humans.

For the high quality servitors, you're going to get the guys that pretty much look like full robots. They would be little more than human brains and nervous systems installed in fully mechanical bodies. These guys will be getting statted fairly high. The old sculpt Pointman will be in this class, as will these figures.

These are a pair of old Scotia Grendel Void Androsynths, from the Syntha faction. Despite their age, these are surprisingly very nice figures. I'd actually kind of like to get a few more, even though I don't really need them. I might have to grab the close combat models some day.

Here's all five of my completed non-GW servitors.

And with the man who will become their commander.

I think I managed to match them up well enough that they won't look out of place among the rest of my Mechanicus army.

Okay, short update since I'm on my phone. Finished a couple more figures. I've got yet another cyborg for my Mechanicus.

And, when I ordered some more retro robots for my dad, I snagged a Hasslefree Left4dead Witch. I have more to do on her after she gets dipped, but her base colors are down.

Never understood why they're wandering around in their underwear though

That's a few weird minis you have there Barzam. A cyborg with a really interesting cod piece and a witch in her underwear with rather big hands.

Its quite funny they both go really well together for all the wrong reasons

Ever play Left4Dead? The Witch is one of the special zombie classes. They sort of stumble about, crying. If you startle them, they suddenly go nuts and rip you apart. They can be one of the nastiest enemies in the game. Her big hands are actually claws. I'll be bloodying them up after she's been dipped.

Well, he does like to terrify the clergy.

I've been putting a little bit of work into some non-Mechanicus stuff this week. I'd picked up a Kurgat Battlefield Engineer for my Morats a month or so back and only just now got to him.

He still needs to be dipped. I've got the dip at my place, but I'd forgotten to grab the brushes last time I was at my parents' house. I'll have to grab some next time I'm there along with the rest of the figures that need to be dipped.

I also just finished this guy tonight.

This Viridian Sniper from Urban War was a replacement for the Biosynth Noble Knight was supposed to send me. i've got a box of Viridian Special Forces sitting around that I haven't gotten to yet, and this guy wound up being the test for their color scheme.

I don't think I've shown them off before, but I've got a few Defiance UAMC Marines kicking around that I'd picked up during the Miniature Swap in Temecula. I've got enough parts for... six guys, I think? I've got two more I started on this week that are assembled (one made from leftover bits from the Defiance figures and a Mantic Corporate Marine). Maybe I'll actually get those two done this week?

Despite who they came from, the figures aren't actually that bad. Their details are a little soft, but I think if you wanted to just have a bunch of generic army men to use as fodder, they work pretty nicely. I will say, I actually like their proportions. they're not exactly true scale, but they aren't heroic scale either. They're kind of like Anvil Industry's Afterlife range in that they're right in between and wind up looking good in either scale.

I dipped a bunch of stuff last night and sprayed the figures down this evening. Most needed a bit more cleanup to get rid of their shininess, but probably about half are now fully done. I'm assuming nobody really cares about the boring German guys I finished, so I'll post the sci-fi stuff I finished instead.

Got my Kurgat done. Now I can finally expand my Morat ranks a bit more.

And, he matches his buddies, too.

Back at that figure swap in Temecula, I actually managed to come across a couple of Haqqislam figures. I got myself a Ghulam and a second rifle Djanbazan. The Djan was one of the figures that needed a bit more cleanup, but the Ghulam is all done.

And, of course, I made sure to match him up with my other Haqqislam light infantry.

Lastly, because I like the figure, I finished up The Witch as well.

Now she's got her bloody claws. She actually turned out a bit shorter than my other zombies though.

Still, I like to have a variety among my shambling undead, so she fits right in.

At the moment, no. She was an FRP impulse buy. For some reason they had one listed at about $3.49. I couldn't resist expanding my zombies ranks at such a low price. Maybe eventually I'll pick up the survivors though.

Finished up a few more figures tonight. I think I'll get the fantasy figure out of the way first.

You probably know that I'm fairly particular about my fantasy stuff. I mostly go in for the undead stuff, or beastmen like werewolves. I also rather like Gnolls (and damn you D&D for not letting me play as a Gnoll!). Unfortunately, I don't have very many Gnoll figures. Back when Tamburlaine and I went to the miniature swap in Temecula, I found a guy who had a ton of D&D Chainmail figures. Wouldn't you believe it, the guy had a Gnoll Ranger and some battle hyenas. So, I had to have them. I finally finished the Gnoll Ranger last night (not based though). He'd got a cool design, but unfortunately, the mold has a lot of miscasting going on. It's most clearly evident on the right side of his face, right shoulder, right side of his arrows, and in the fact that the weapons hanging from his right hip absolutely will not sit flush against his side. Basically his entire right side is messed in. But, I did the best I could with him and the guy does have some personality to him. Maybe some day I'll actually paint up some more of my Bones Gnolls and have a proper Gnoll/hyena warband.

Now, onto the sci-fi.

Some of you may remember that a while back, I'd bought a Gates of Antares Algoryn. I mainly just wanted to get a taste for the quality of the line with him and I found him to be a decent figure. I got around to finishing him up tonight.

He's now going to be an unofficial member of my Combined Army.

I got my AE WWII American robot infantry finished as well.

Continuing the theme of retro robots, some of you may also recall that I'd painted up some Retro Raygun robots for my Dad a while back. For Father's Day, I wound up getting him a few more troops for his Robot Legion. I got him two Destroyers, which are the armed variants of the larger robots, and a basic trooper. I'd actually painted up a trooper for him a few months back, but I never took a pic of him. Since I was using him as a painting guide for the new guys, I figured I'd go ahead and take a pic.

That is an "advancing" type trooper. You'll notice how bright and shiny he is. When I did him and the other silver guys, I didn't use any washes. It was just gunmetal, drybrush silver, then dip and done. Unfortunately, last week my black dip's can got damaged and dried out. Now I'm completely out of it and I'll have to order a new one because nobody carries the Minwax Tudor. So, when I did the new guys, I wound up having to use washes, which does not leave them bright and shiny like the previous figures. Here you can see the new "standing" type trooper I just finished.

As you can see, he's a fair bit darker. Another issue I came upon is that I don't have enough bases for both Destroyers. I haven't built the second one yet, but it seems he's going to have to stick with just his integral base until I can find one that fits him. The other Destroyer is totally done now, though.

He turned out very nice. I hope that when I get to the second one, he looks just as good. Here's all three together.

The Destroyer is a fair bit bigger than the others. He rivals my Infinity Iguana in height. He's at least double the height of a Space Marine, so he's quite the chunk of metal.

Your retro stuff is coming along nicely.

We ought to use it in a mutants and rayguns campaign. They'd go perfect with your dino riding Germands fighting my mushroom men.

There's at least 4 or 5 Gnolls in the Bones line now. Plus you could probably substitue a few wolves as gnolls, especially if you go with some of Reaper's lupin guys.

Or maybe you'll finally succumb to the Rackham bug and start picking up some Wolfen instead...

All of those robots look really nice. The Algoryn looks like he'd fit in as a robot as well - just slightly more modern.

The witch looks really cool as well, and I love what you've done with the Mechanicus. I'm not familiar with WarmaHordes, but those Cryx figures fit the theme down to a T. Great work!

I already have some Rackham Wolfen. And did you forget that I almost bought some the last time we were at Brookhurst?

Our father was actually asking me if he'd have a useable SOBH force now with his robots. I statted them and he does. We might be able to get him to join us when you get back.

I'm surprised at how few people use Cryx stuff to proxy Servitors. They're perfect for it. Syntha stuff works really well, too. Speaking of, I have some more Syntha 'bots on the way.

Glad you liked the Witch, too. It was kind of nice having such an easy figure to paint.

Glad you guys like them. Interestingly, a lot of the sculpts in Chainmail got reused for the WOTC D&D miniature game. My exact Gnoll was one of them. However, his D&D miniatures vrrsion lacks the quiver on his back and the weapons on his hip seem to have been resculpted.
