Vik, here is a side by side. One on the right is taken through the +3.00 glasses. Camera was in the same position and distance from subject in both photos.

The difference is quite easy to notice. The magnification is not anything excessive either.

Nice. Great work on the highlighting, really eye catching.

Thanks. Infinity minis need eye-catching, given that the nature of the game has us trying to hide the minis on the table as best we can

That robot is a great sculpt. Your blues are a really nice colour and I think your models are well and truly at home in a display case as well as looking spectacular on the tabletop.

Thanks. Phthalo blue and Dutch blue are everyone's friends I like this 'bot too. Nice character to it. And a fun something to paint on the side.

Bad news. Not much painting this week, a lot of bad stuff in RL. My little group, we even had to cancel our game night, since our host had to spend the day car shopping. His car was totalled in a wreck ( sandwiched). Fortunately, no real injuries.

The Janissary's status is as above. I started on a nasmat-- another 'bot. Hey, they are a fun, no-pressure distraction, so no judging. Here are some WIPs

Also, it is an Infinity fig, so can count towards my goal

Here's to a better week. Thanks for stopping by.

Not where I should be

Looking great bud, and to reiterate others, your WIP is what most of us would be very happy calling complete.

You know I used to use magnifiers to take pics, keep forgetting these days, need to revise my methods and take a little more time.

Thanks Cam. Magnifiers are for the painting. Macro settings on the camera are for the pictures. These days anyway. Even thought I read at least one how to that says do not use the macro. Bah, I think I get better results. I'll believe my own lying eyes over the internet any day.

Thanks BBD2424.

When it rains it pours. It has rained for 10 straight days hereabouts. Although a few days were just sprinklings.

A little more work on the Janissary. It's perhaps 70% done.

Now that I see the Burnt Siena/Terra Cotta combo where many parts are properly highlighted, I must say, I like it.

This will be #4 out of 8 that I want painted by the time the new book + minis arrive, at least it will when I finish it in a day or 2 (one hopes). They are already being shipped to some folks, depending upon how they ordered it. I may not have as much time as I though to get them all painted. Ah well.

Thanks for stopping by.

Really liking that color combo, very unusual but striking.
About the macro thing, the reason you don't want to use macro is because you want the whole model to be in focus. With macro, you'll get blurry parts which is not great.

True enough. I think the trick is to get the mini on one plane, and hold the camera far enough that it will focus correctly. This is working for me, so far.

Been busy reading ( Ilium and the new Infinity rulebook, and the Malifaux rulebook. Ugh. I hate trying to learn rules from PDFs though. I much prefer printed to digital for that. Fiction in ebook form is fine though.) and had a little time to paint.

I'm not sure the differences are all that obvious from the previous WIP update.

I should get the printed rulebook this week ( one hopes) and the minis. Bad News: looks like I won't meet my goal of 8 painted before they arrive. Good News: I will have 4 painted. I must remain optimistic about the painting.

Thanks for stopping by. Maybe the Janissary will be finished tonight.

Would you rather 8 minis you're unsatisfied with or 4 minis you were proud of?

Hmmmm...

Looks great, Red. You're style is very unique. So unique I can't put my finger on how it's so....unique!

Still raining over there? Driving us crazy around here, not used to so much water all around...

Janissary is looking great. Really approve of the colour choice, though it's hard to explain; maybe because it "could" be an actual soldier's armour (it is mostly browns, after all), while at the same still popping? As I said, hard to explain, but liking it

Simmons' Ilium?

Rewording: Hope the Janissary will be finished tonight.

Back to painting. First of all, finally got the shipping notice. All the goodies should be arriving next Thursday, so that's the *soft* deadline.

Thanks... I think. I would never have 8 minis that I was unsatisfied with. My inner perfectionist would drive me insane to do something about it.

Yeah, rain, almost every day now. It's better than when it was every day. It is that El Nino pattern in the Pacific. Lots of wind storms too.

Dans Simmons, yes. I'm waiting for the ebook of Fall of Hyperion to become available. This was available though, So I grabbed it. The advantage of library books is the whole due date thing. It forces me to read the things, rather than leave them sitting around, to be read manana.

Color choice was based on the colors one sees in the Painted Desert (you'll have to google it. The images will explain.) Mother Nature knows a thing or two about color theory

So close. Final WIP photos. I need to paint the hands and the weapons. Then it is done. Belongs to the Ages.

I promise better lighting for the finished photos. The lights of the armor are turquoise, but it seems to be washed out in the photos. Bah.

With 1 Week to go, and 4 minis to go, I've lined up the candidates

I'm tempted to finish the four in front. They, along with the Naffatun and the Janissary were the first Infinity minis I bought. Seems fitting I should finish them ( after 4+ years) I may mix and match though. Kirpal Singh and Tabitha the Bolt ( in back, in blue) are really only a few hours of work each ( I write, hopefully). Ah, decisions.

Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks guys.

Lies, lies, lies! Package was to arrive 26 May (Thursday) I re-checked the tracking this past Friday, and the estimate had been revised to Tuesday.

Post Office delivers it around noontoday. So much for meeting, or even coming close to, my self-imposed deadline. I suppose that it would be bad form to complain about the package arriving early?

I like that background for the Janissary too. Just need to light it better so that there is not such a prominent horizon line.

Ah, painting. A little bit of color on a few minis. All fairly early WIPs.

Got to do something about that hair color though. Not liking it at all.

The tinbot, arm being painted separately.

It will be painted to match the Janissary.

And Fusilier Angus.

Need more contrast on that blue.

Thanks for stopping by.

Post delivered before its due time? What is happening to the world? What's gonna be next?

First world problems at their best, .

Nice WIPs.

A first world problem, yes, but still a problem.

If the thing is delivered and you're not home because you don't expect it, it sits by your front door. An invitation to thieves :( Especially around Christmastime. Or it rains. And the delivery person did not put your package in plastic bag to protect it. Not a good thing.

Quick WIP update

Decent progress. Especially considering the newly arrived distractions

New goal: Paint the minis from the starter box. End of June deadline. Making it easy on myself. I hope. (This set goals and deadlines thing seems to be moderately efficacious.) Then maybe finish something from the Table of Shame.

Thanks for stopping by.

this is unthinkable for any german...here you have to ask if a neghbor or a packaging station (postbox for parcels) or the post office gets it back for you to later collect it...standng in line and such things involved...but cerainly never the let it sit n the door step alternative here...dunno why that is a moduss operandi in the US...seems very behind the moon if you ask me...

i wish GW would do some simple poses like the fusilier angus...always battle ready and not something more comedian/ ciivilian/ peacefully like...

It used to be that way here. You had to sign for a package in many cases. If you weren't home, you would get a slip in your mailbox that says you have a package, come get it.

These days, you're lucky if the delivery person even rings your doorbell. Although there is a way to schedule delivery... never tried that.

No painting, but did assemble a few of the recent acquisitions

The center mini is the Limited Edition Mini that came with the new book. It is rather large...

Are not the Games Workshop minis meant to be 'poseable'?

Yes Cleatus, it. Thanks for remembering.

Deuce Bigelow, ah, another Rob Schneider movie that I missed. Take you time with 'em Grim. They are fun to paint.

Angus needs plenty of work ,Bebop. Soon. It'll get it soon.

It's like time lapse photography, eh? All these WIPs of slow progress?

But close to finished with this one. Still undecided about the hair. I hope tonight, or Sunday, to finish. I'd like to get one more done before the end of the month.

Lots to catch up on.

Nice work on the Janissary; good scheme, well done.
Is that a stealth rock he has his foot on? Painted to match the base, nice idea.

Don't be too hard on yourself for not getting all 8 done by your deadline (especially as it appears to have shortened itself several times), you got 4 lovely mini's done which you may not have otherwise done without the encouragement of a deadline.

As for Miss large mini 2016, people come in all shapes and sizes, I think it's better to have a mixture of heights in a miniature collection rather than all be exactly the same height; more realistic that way.

re: pose-able miniature... any miniature is pose-able with a saw, glue and putty. Some are just easier than others.

Nice work, again.

Yeah, tactical rock. I do dislike those things, so why not paint it in "camo"?

I would have painted 1, maybe 2, then worked on emptying the table of shame. No worries, I'm pleased with the outcome. But not so pleased that I'm willing to rest on my laurels. There is much painting to be done.

Finished the Ghulam, or so I thought. I messed up the face. So, gotta remove the paint and start over... but just on the face. It's not difficult, but it is a little creepy to do. Flensing.

Anyway, back shot. This is completed too.

I should finish the face tonight.

You have made me change up to painting some tiny stuff, and going to have to take a deep breath, seeing your work so stunning is knocking me out a bit, inspiring and brilliant, but guddamit the tiny details!

Quick question how you stripping just a face? Need to know for one of my current projects.

Great work, keep it up bud, these last few models have been truly fantastic. Not that what you did before was rubbish you understand, just been looking at these last few and swearing a lot.
