Paint then glue?
What for is this 'paint' that you speak of? 'Tis truly known that glue first, put on shelf second is the way of things.......
And furthermore, what are "wasted bitz on the sprue".......Wasted bitz? WASTED BITZ? That truly is heretical talk, there is only "moar bitz".....
I have copious amounts of bitz and ogryn arms and heads will probably be there for a while.
I usually get so excited to build a new model and when I finally get around to painting it is always more difficult to get the smallest of details.
I love painting this way but it is driving me crazy.
Oh yeah - flesh on the heads looks good

Nice job on the paint work and like the build choice as well never realised there was a bearded head like that in the set.
Good job on the bearded head by the way as it gives a more mature feel to the group

Yeah I really like the bearded head. I had to do a good bit of cutting and fiddling to get the one ogryn the heavy armour with a rippa gun .
Should hopefully have these done by months end .
Thanks for the comments and keep um coming Automatically Appended Next Post: Do you guys use cheap brushes or more expensive ones?
I am thinking about getting the Ichiban Studios Brushes , but I have heard that the GW line is also pretty good.
I've been using brushes from Michael's but I can't seem to keep a sharp tip on the cheaper ones.
Anyone's opinions on the matter would be greatly appreciated

When you say cutting to fit do you mean the rippa gun itselfs ?
I have to say the kit is not as bad as I first thought from the early pictures released, there is some potential in it and extras for conversions.
To be honest I have always used what ever my art store had or GW brushes, however I did invest in some Winsor and Newton series 7 brushes due to some recommendations I had read.
I was a bit skeptical at first but some early trials have shown some better results, also they seem to hold the paint better than my older brushes had, so I would say it is worth a trial run at least.
I am sure you know already but there is general brush care and cleaning which helps to retain shape, I have found not covering more than half the bristles with paint prolongs the brush life and shape.

I made modifications to the flack armour because they are not designed to wear that and carry the rippa gun.
Nothing too crazy but yes the armour and gun had to get trimmed plus green stuff to the handle. I really love the look of the armour once you cut the tank treads off.
I try to take of my brushes but I just can't get a really really sharp point like ( at least it appears you can ) you can on more expensive brushes.
Thanks for the hints though.

I was going to cut the tracks of as well why they put they put them on in the first place bewildered me
I know a lot of people use brush cleaner ( get from your local art store ) that helps redeem the sharp point as well.

Tell me about you do a good job and then the camera sucks the life out of it
But they do look good by simple colour scheme I meant more muted pallet, I hope you don't think I meant anything by it I hate the bright coloured versions GW used as selling points so was impressed with the more metallic scheme you used which is way more fitting.

Oh no, I'm not upset. That was the same thing I was thinking in regards to color. I'm just frustrated with not being able to get a decent picture of it .

Thinking about running two or three knight titans backed by six leman russ. Need to wait and see how unbound works before I invest in two more russes, I know that would be cheesy but really awesome to field .
What do you guys think?

I think it is going to be all about talking it through with your opponent before hand. If they bring a light/fluffy unbound list (like a 10th company or Harlequin circus) and you bring a list full of things they have 4 guns that can do anything to, its not going to be a fun game for either of you. If they brought a riptide list or something else cheesey, game on.

Considering I don't play it would most likely be a fun chessey style game. I would never want to play the game competitively.
Fluffy is more my style.

I like em. Really effective, with great work on the faces especially. Is there edge highlighting on the bronze at all? I can see it on the silvers, works well.

The Ogryns look great. Much better than GW's official scheme that made them look god awful.

The bearded one happens to be my favorite as well.
I'm excited to paint Nork but have a terrain airbrush itch at the moment.

Lots of views ! Thanks everyone.
I'm in sales so finding hobby time is tough.
Next up will be Nork and shortly after him will be two knights.
Thanks for checking in and please feel free to leave comments or questions about anything on this thread.
Also I just bought some blue tac . If anyone is interested in learning how to use it I will most certainly shoe steps in my upcoming posts.
In other news my image was used at Bell of Lost Souls picture of the day on 5/31!
So that's cool.
