Ok, here goes another update, I'll keep soldiering on with this stuff in the hopes I'll hit the winning formula to get some responses!
So, in my previous update I showed you the starts of my second Inquisitor gang. The main Inquisitor, who is yet unnamed, is going to be the mastermind behind all the retinues clandestine actions, but, being as hold and feeble as he is, he is unable to take on a physical role in the field.I will still be attaching a weapon to his chair of course, in case situations demand it, but hopefully he won't find himself fighting toe to toe with anyone, as he won't last long. Anyway, because he'll be very ineffective in game, PDH suggested to me that he should have an accomplice, an Interrogator to be his mouthpiece in the games, much like the Mouth of Sauron is to Sauron. With a quick think and a little bit of searching, I came up with a bit of an ambitious, but hopefully very rewarding project: I'm going to give sculpting myself something a go. Now, this is going to be a hell of a learning curve, and I wisely have chosen a Hasslefree Armature to start off with. I think I'm going to bombard some of the more prominent resident sculptors on dakka for advice, to gleen some knowledge on how I can go about this without hamfisting the entire project!
Onto the pictures!
this is the Hasslefree Armature straight out of the packet. I'm not going to trust myself to go with the full monty, and make everything from scratch, but I'll be focusing on her clothes, and also to bring her slightly more in line with GWs 'Heroic' 28mm. Here she is in scale with Huss.
She's a bit petite. I don't think it matters too much, and she's going to have some extra height added here and there. So, what am I planning? Well, I want her to have a radical air about her (being in a radical gang and all) whilst also conveying a Puritan, flamboyant look? Here's what I found for inspiration.
I like the look of this. I can give her a corset, and emulate a sisters of battle style, and then something loose and hopefully forgiving covering the rest of her top half. Something a bit like this?
the radical side will be brought out by the armor on her legs. This will be the first stage too 'embiggen' her. I'm going to give her the legs (up to the knee joint) from the Slaanesh Champion on foot. Y'know the guy with the cloven hooved heels? I think this'll give a very sinister and radical appearance. (these are the legs I'm talking about!)
Excuse the paintjob, it's a bit rusty. Hopefully, if all goes to plan, I'll get updates up as soon as I can. But I'd love any ideas you'd have for her! Should she have a hat? A loin cloth? And her weapon choice? Any ideas feel free to yell them out!

I wouldn't worry about the slow responses. It is something I struggle with too. People are watching, just slow to say anything it seems.
ghosty wrote:Okay, let's get this show on the road!
So let's kick things off first of all with My old Inquisitor:
Sorry for the blur on the face, I didn't notice it when taking the pictures. He's not finished right now. If fact, I'd not say he's even halfway there. At present, the work I've done on him so far is just for ease of sculpting. Way I see it, it'll be harder to greenstuff him if he's in a bunch of small pieces. So I'm working away to make a Liche Priest 40k. I gave him a nose and a Bionic eye, as well as filled in the exposed skull. This was my first time I worked with Finecast, and at the moment, I'm a bit thrown. The detail seems crisp in lots of places, and it is a joy to work with, but in itself, the miscast parts were a bit of a let down. The bionic eye is there simply because half his face seemed to have sloughed away, and it was almost completely smooth where his left eye should be. Curious. There's not been much work on his legs at this point in time, they're going to be cut up, and probably not on show either way, so I'm not really concerned with how they look at the moment. I rebuilt his other arm, though that again will probably be broken up into it's parts again to make the finished pose more natural. We'll see.
I like the look of this guy a lot. His story might be a bit too similar to Ravenor, but I still like where the model is headed.
ghosty wrote:
And here's his Wheel Chair! I want the finished look to be something akin to a 40k version of this intimidating badboy:
Possibly with smaller tank tracks.
Anyway, here is itself in its current state. It's pretty much done, minus the control pad, a servo arm equipped with a firearm of some type, and it's tank tracks.
It has a servo skull built in based on the 40k maxim that one can never have too many skulls. I'm sure it'd have some purpose, maybe as a targeting array for the firearm that'll eventually be equipped. Other than that, it's basically a refurbished seat taken from an Imperial Guard Sentinel, with some extra technological gubbins attached.
I love this idea for his chair.
ghosty wrote:
And here's a scale shot with the Inquisitor. My next task, after I've finished the chair, is to take Inquisitor, and get him sitting in the chair. Which looks to be a challenge.
It looks like the curve of his body from his knees to his head might fit the chair. I would check that. If it does fit, you have a good place to cut, with a relatively easy join to hide.
ghosty wrote:
I've seen the pieces to make the servo arm, and the tank tracks, the Space Hulk C.A.T
The only concern here is that they are of course out of production, and now cost an arm and a leg to get a hold of. It's perfect for what I need, but I just can't justify the prices I've seen currently.
I would look into other figure manufacturers for this. For example, Khurasan Miniatures makes a drome miniature in 15mm that might work for you. It even comes in tracked, wheeled, legged, and anti-grav versions. This is the store page. Scroll down to the Autonomous Small Vehicles (ASV) section.
Servo Skulls are cheap from bits sellers, and the Servo Arm can be made of wire and plastic rod quite easily.
ghosty wrote:
Onto the second character!
this is a Kroot Tracker I spent a fair time a while back working on, for my Kroot Necromunda gang. He didn't scream 'leader' at me, so he's now serving as an aid to the Inquisitor.
I'm fairly pleased with several parts of this miniature. Firstly, I'm happy with his face. I sculpted onto a normal kroot face, in an attempt to give is some more character. I think i successfully characateured him to a nice degree. I'm also pleased with the feathers on his back, which I made a greenstuff mould for feathers, and used it to print the pattern onto his cloak. I think it could've worked better, but I'm still pretty proud of it. I also love his pose. he looks very nonchalant and calm. Next!
Not much to say about this one other than I like it a lot as well.
ghosty wrote:
Here's the final update for this afternoon. There may be more later, but I'll let you folks look over these three characters this afternoon, and bombard you a bit more later! This is my Sslyth warrior. Let me tell you, the biggest pain in the arse to do out of all my miniatures, and he's still not done! He's based off of a Dungeons and Dragons Yun Tai (?) which is essentially a snake man. Perfect for a Sslyth! I thought I struck gold when i found this guy, as I've been meaning to add one of these serpent men to my warband for quite some time, but because of funding I had been unable to.
Yum! as you can see, he's surprisingly well detailed, I was certainly taken aback, but here's the drawback. He's made from some kind of rubber plastic, which is almost impossible to cut, and mould lines are pretty much an issue you have to deal with, as they don't come away no matter how much you scrape. I'm glad they're not too prominent. Speaking of the plastics issues, it doesn't sand, and superglue doesn't take to it very well. Would I use one of these figures again if it would be useful? I can't say yet. I'm taking a big gamble with this miniature, as if paint doesn't take to the plastic, he's next to useless. And removing them from their integral bases was a nightmare.
There isn't much information on Sslyth, so I decided to be a bit creative, and decide that there are subspecies that have onto two limbs, and that their 'native' weapon of choice is a Bow. Way I see it, is when there's not much fluff on a minaiture, it lets us run amock! His bow is two zombie scythes with kroot Gun butts on the ends. It's absolutely massive! More akin to a bolt thrower than a long bow.
I like the idea here. The bow may be a bit too masive though. ANd I mean that from a game playing perspective because, as GW themselves have shown, there is no such thing from a modelling perspective. Lol.
How does the Yuan Ti miniature size up with your other figures? Looks like it would be good, but I would love to see a comparison picture if you get a moment.
ghosty wrote:
Here's a scale picture (To make PDH foam at the mouth )
I've not yet got a quiver sorted out for this guy, as the arrows will have to be huge. But I'm very happy with how he's coming together, I'm just so happy with his Bow!
So, Anything you have to say will be welcome, and until later, Adieu!
Now PDH isn't the only one foaming at the mouth. I would like to see more of the Nurgle Lord conversion too! Especially since I just started a conversion of that same figure yesterday!
In closing, I will say good work on all of this stuff. I have been subscribed to your thread for awhile, but I don't post as much as I'd like, sorry.

Everything has turned out better than expected! My female Interrogator is almost at the point of being ready to paint, but my Camera has chewed its way through some more batteries, so no pictures just yet. Maybe later this evening, or tomorrow? For a first sculpt, I am very proud. Any input on my earlier work is of course appreciated, I'm still a bit stuck on how to position my Sslyths bow without pinning (I lost the little drill bits for the pinvice...)

Wonderfully characterful warband, Ghosty!
First off, the fluff is ace, great introduction to the group. I really like where the inquisitor is going, and the idea of a subdued kind of power, especially like what you've done with the chair. Looking forward to seeing where you take him.
The kroot's face is excellent - I haven't worked much with the kroot models, but I imagine it must be very hard to individualise one of them. You've nailed it with this gent - he's very characterful! Lots of practice with the older gang though, i guess
Love the shared models too - I'm really flattered that you liked what I was doing! My poses were never hugely original anyway, so steal away. Can't wait to see your sculpting. Automatically Appended Next Post: Wonderfully characterful warband, Ghosty!

Right Ladies and Gents, this I believe will be my final update for a while, as I have returned to University. I feel I haven't given this blog the time and attention it deserves, so I will be taking a break from Warhammer until Easter time. Apologies to the few who are interested in the progress of the warbands, but I need to prioritize my time at University. I hope I won't disappoint too many people, and I may still lurk around Dakka, but my updates are going to be few and far in between I'm afraid. Don't lose faith though! I have some great pieces of work down the pipeline.
Thanks Scarper! It means a lot to get a post from you!
Onto the gang members. This is a gunslinger for my radical Inquisitor. I've always preferred the idea of mutants hiding out amongst society, and hiding their deformities, along with minor mutations standing out more than gigantic tentacles. Now don't get me wrong, I love over compensation as much as the next guy, but when it comes to Inquisitor, I feel Less is ultimately more. So I took this idea and ran with it.
Apologize for the black basecoat. He's ready for painting, but I'm afraid the black kind of washes out the detail. I wanted this character to have a mysterious appearance to him, he's supposed to be sneaky, hence the finger to the lips 'shhh!' gesture. I imagine him sneaking through the urban jungle, and telling a homeless child to be quiet whilst he passes by or something. As for mutation, his arm is atrophied. I wanted him to have a skinny, almost skeletal limb, to contrast with his macho man gun arm. His face is also covered with a Masque, to hide his identity, or possibly further, and more obvious mutation. Scale wise, this guy is tall! He's got a very lean, and slenderman esque body shape, and is about as tall as the Nurgle Champion. Which means in essence, that he's a tall guy. Continuing the trend of recycling parts to make new miniatures, this guy is certainly coming into that category. His legs are made from the chaos Marauder groin and thighs left over from Huss, with a pair of shoulderpads as kneepads, and Empire Free Company boots. They really make him tall! the Forgeworld Enforcer body was left over from an earlier conversion, and the rest of the parts are from my bits box.
Loose theme is that he seems to have originated from the upper echelons of society, hiding his identity with an ornate Masque preferred in Masquerades in the upper Spire. He also carries an Ancient, and priceless Laspistol predating the Heresy. It's old, and it packs a punch. (It actually is built from a rogue trader lasgun with a shortened barrel. I really wanted it to be huge and clunky. Slightly unwieldy, but it has that Archeotech, one in a million rule, so I assume it's gotta be what it's gotta be.) Where is he from? no one knows, but to have come from so high, and to have fallen so far as to be drawn into (radical Inquisitor name yet unthought of) warband implies he is desperate for redemption.
I'll put up another post in an hour or so!

Hey guys, thanks for the responses, I'm trying to get out these last few pictures for everyone before I disappear off the face of the planet for a couple months! So my next guy has had a fair chunk of build up for a while. I lost the unpainted pictures for this guy, so apologies, so it's another black blob. This character needs no real introduction, because I've tantalized you long enough! So, onto the pictures of my fatty.
Obviously, based off of a nurgle lord, that guy is just perfect conversion fodder! I wanted him to be a real brute, and I planned for him to be a pit fighter very early on in the conversion process. However, this idea developed when I found myself a pair of Imperial Guard sized Powerfists. They don't match, but I think that helps fit the eclectic look of the miniature. The astute may notice that his left handed powerfist is in fact originally designed for the right hand, and it took some careful cutting, and greenstuffing to switch the thumb over. Luckily, the fingers on the fist are not anatomically correct, so it doesn't look off in its reversed position. It was this idea that actually spurred me to think up some background for this guy.
He's a member of a fairly specific form of Pitfights. It originated as a more respectable form of violent pit fights that the nobility could condone without fearing the reprimands associated with the more Barbaric, and illegal Underhive activities. Instead of drill arms and saw blades, the combatents would have kinetic powered cybernetics grafted directly onto their limbs, effectively replacing their hands with chargeable power fists. The fights would normally be fairly brief, but would contain less graphic violence, allowing it to become more acceptable in the eyes of the Arbites. Every punch delivered to the opponent would charge up the power of the fist. When it reached a critical level, the boxing glove would be capable of delivering a blow not dissimilar in force to a Powerfist. The matches were normally a race to charge up the fists, as whoever got to the critical level first, were almost assured a win, as for the unarmored torsos, a powered punch would likely liquefy their organs and powder their bones. To lose the match was to lose your life, and as such, there are very few who ever survive more than three consecutive matches. Interestingly, the competitors are largely varied in size in stature. From Giant brutes whose punches generate greater energy levels per punch, to small and agile men who can deliver 3 punches for the time it takes a larger man to deliver one.
This character is of the former grouping, a giant of a man who can boast a claim none have ever been able to emulate. He lost a match, and survived. The blow ruptured his stomach and wrecked his internal organs, but a mysterious benefactor deemed him a worthy investment. His ruined organs were replaced with artifical organs of steel and iron, capable of digesting food, and then filtering out waste products into a canister on his back. He's followed the Inquisitor ever since.
He was a very fun miniature to convert! things of note include on his grossly bloated and unhealthy stomach, an artifical exhaust to expel the byproduct fumes of his artificial stomach, and tubing connecting to a storage canister on his back. He wears a welding Mask, which I was fairly pleased with how it came out sculpting wise. I also took the time to fill in all the gaping wounds and boils on his flesh, he may be sickly, but he's not that ill, and I took the time to fill in the holes on his thighs. They'll be painted to look like cloth, as I'm not a fan of him running around in a diaper. Only other thing to note is I was struck by inspiration to make him arm length mismatched, to denote that it was a hasty, and haphazardly done grafting process. One arm is certainly shorter than the other!
Couple more things to put up, stay tuned!

I mean to post this ages ago but forgot - the C.A.T from Space Hulk is not very expensive, I got one on eBay for a few quid. However it is not the right size for what you want, it's really tiny. In my opinion the ideal part is probably the tracks from the old Ork wartrakk, or if you want to get fancy the tracks from a forgeworld Rapier might work. I love the wheelchair idea, always wanted to make one myself.

Aww... sorry to hear you going out for a bit...
That big guy with the vent on his stomach (just vomited in my mouth a bit... ssspectre got it right) is wicked...
Also like the bent-over guy with the robo-chair up a bit earlier. That's a Tomb King, no? Really great conversion- didn't even see him at first, but the look of him is very Blanche-Inquisitor...
We'll be waiting for updates, but again, good luck at Uni!

Yeah, you know, I'm pretty gutted in honesty that I didn't get a chance to take a final snap of some of my things before I came back to Uni. One of these days i should probably take my Warhammer with me, but I'm scared that they'll become a plughole for which all my time will go down, as opposed to working for the exam!
Ok, to the responses!
Dark Apostle 666: Thanks man, I like him too! He took a good while to make, as I wanted him to at least hold his own with every other Nurgle Lord conversion on the Internet. I know a certain Gorrilla Avatar'd member of Dakka was getting a bit sick of all the conversions, so I had him in mind whilst making him; I wanted him to be a bit different to the rest. Whether or not it worked...? Well, we can only speculate
Zwan1One: Thanks man, I appreciate it! Let's hope I don't wake up to find I'm being sued for blowing up a spaceship!
PDH: Thanks man, your stuff always inspires me to try and build better things. As for the Bow, I'm becoming less and less enamored with the Sslyth loadout at the moment, and it may very well find itself onto a new miniature.
Bruticus: See, this is why I wish I took some pictures! As I was fiddling with ideas, I was reminded that the main purpose of this blog was to recycle old miniatures that I didn't have the heart to sell, as opposed to buying more! So I went with the old switcheroo, and instead of tank tracks, which would have been my first choice, he now has a dinky little anti-grave generator on the bottom, so he can float around quite sedately, and even go up stairs. This guy aint no Davros!
HF Izanagi: Yeah, he is a Tomb King, one of the Lich Priests from the last release. You know, I was really disappointed with the casting, as I know the priests head is one of the better quality faces GW has made in recent years. It gives off a real 'hate the world' vibe. A blanche conversion?! Well that's all kinds of flattering, as PDH in particular knows that he's like my super favorite man in the whole world. I mean, have you seen his retinue he had at the last Inquisitor event? It had frikkin' Angron in it! HE CHOPPED UP a 50 squids miniature! I have so much respect for him.

Hey folks! I have a bit of good news, so I just thought I'd keep you updated. I've finished my exams now, and all in all, I didn't think they were that horrendous. Time will obviously tell, but until then, I'm buzzing! Anyway, I'm heading back home for a couple days next week, and I've decided to bite the bullet and bring back a small selection of miniatures, to paint up and finish. I'm fairly excited by the undertaking, and hopefully I'll be able to get some updates out to you, instead of everyone waiting until Easter. That's good, right?
In other news, I've decided to try and finish my lady Interrogator off as part of the hero competition on Dakka.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/498307.page
I am unsure I will be even with in a hope of winning, but I'm hoping that by entering it, it might raise some awareness of my little blog here. Tentative steps to bigger projects. My ultimate goal will be to have my retinue done and dusted by Easter time, and hopefully I'll be featured in Molotovs In28 blog. A man can dream, right?
Anyway, thanks for stopping by guys! Look for an update around Tuesday! Right, I'm off to celebrate the end of exams in classic Uni style..

I'm very excited to hear about your plans for your lady interrogator. I saw your starter too... very bold undertaking. She's nekkid. Aside from that fact, that means you've gotta sculpt EVERYTHING on her body- clothes, guns, etc. But if you see it through, you're going see a vast improvement to your GS skills. I can't wait to see what you do with her clothing and gear!

Hey guys, I think it's been too long. Sadly my Girlfriend split up with me recently, on the day I made my last post talking of big things to come, and it kind of sucked out any form of motivation towards modelling for a fair bit of time. It's been a bit of a roller coaster recently, because as I'm sure many of you who're in Uni, or have been through it, will be aware that other things suck up all your free time, especially when single. But I've kept hanging around Dakka, taking serious inspiration from all of the blogs here, and you guys really got me back into the hobby, slowly but surely, so thanks!
Anyway, I finally got a muse again, and started to find my creative juices began to flow, and inspiration struck. So I got out the female armature I was going to use to make my Inquisitor, and revisited the notes I made when i was first inspired. I'll show the WiP images, and let you guys comment on how it's progressed. Just a quick before and after!
Before:
and After:
As you can see, what started as an armature has really grown quite a bit in detail and volume. One of the hardest parts of the sculpting process was removing the armored calves from the Slaanesh champion, and reattaching them to her. The problem I found then, was that she's very much 'true' 28mm, and warhammer... really really isn't. Still, I think I managed to add extra bulk with the thigh sections of armor, and I don't think it's massively obvious of the size difference. She might have fairly long legs too, but that is something I can very much live with. I also think I pulled off the stocking and suspender silhouette I was trying to go for, whilst it evidently being very 40k in image. The power cables on her thighs were a bit of a bitch to get right though, as the putty tending to distort in shape when pressed upon, but I think I got it to a level I'm happy with. In following with the imagery I had planned out, I also added a corset. I want the female Inquisitor to give off a radical image, hence the slightly questionable attire on a basic level, but also the armored legs she is wearing look ever so slightly chaotic, with cloven hooves and leering, demonic faces. Further radicalism will be shown off when I've got her hands attached, one of which is toying with a tendril of balefire. However, I also want her to give off this image off a puritan past, and I tried to make her corset as similar to a sister of Battles' I could manage with my green stuff skills. I feel I should score it with lines to further the similarities between them, but I am scared I'd botch it up. I'd like to throw a special thankyou to PDH, I stared for hours at his Inquisitrix's corset to try and glean some ideas of how he did it. I also gave her a blouse on the rest of her visible torso, and toyed around with giving her a crevatte or somesuch, but quickly found I'm not good enough at sculpting teeny tiny things like that quite yet. I've hit a bit of a rut with her at the moment though. I want to add something to her rear
cos it's glaringly tiny, and also borderline questionable on a miniature. I thought about a skirt, kind of like a smaller version of the ruffled rear on PDHs inquisitrix, but smaller. but I thought I would ask you guys first. Any suggestions? Bit scared to undertake more work on her, but I think I've done fairly well so far! As for her hands, a true 28mm scale miniature is a nightmare to find hands for, but I've found one on the dark elf sorceress, and another from the finecast lichepriest. I think they're slightly different sizes, but not recognizable so. For her hair, I'm thinking a sister of silence type topknot.
What do you folks think then?

Hey mate,
I really feel like a fool for not posting here any earlier! This thread is chock full of awesome stuff! I especially like the INQ models -- as expected
Have to turn in for the night, so just a couple of initial impressions:
- I cannot tell you how brilliant I think your idea for that weelchair bound Inquisitor is! Plus you have chosen an immensely interesting base model. The chair looks great so far. I am only wondering whether you should perhaps rather go for an antigrav chair instead of the treads. I fear they might bulk out the model too much, when the focus should clearly be on the wasted Inquisitor sitting in the chair.
- You're also off to a pretty great start with the new Inquisitrix! The GS sculpting is very good so far. She'll need more work, of course, but I think this has all the makings of a truly outstanding model!
I hope that working on these will serve to give you something worthwile to do and a creative outlet. Sorry to hear about your GF - stuff like that can really suck the marrow from your bones, although I hope you'll be able to find your feet as well as your hobby mojo. Looking at the thread though, there's so much cool stuff that I feel we don't have to worry too much!
Will post more after sleeping! Keep up the great work!

LOL... you give up too easily, Ghosty. You know the =I= 28/ =I=munda/ Necro clique accounts for a very, VERY small base of people here at Dakka. Not to say people aren't interested, you've gotten quite a few views since I got back to the office and checked last.
I too like the look - EXCELLENT choice going with the Slaanesh Champion legs. (though I inwardly and quietly curse you for chopping apart such a beautiful model) It almost looks like the hoof legs have high-heels, excellent calf form... and I'm gonna stop right there.
The bustier/corsette looks excellent as well, though I do hope you clean up the straps- bit off-kilter. I agree with Panda- a very fetching model, but I assume you want to give her hair or a witch-hunter hat? Either way, very exciting to see this coming together.
Looking forward to what you do with this - it takes balls to do a helluvalot of sculpting or trying it from scratch... (I would not try this personally, as I'm a total puss, so hats off you to you, man with brass balls) as the product could be a result of wasted time, effort, and GS. You, however, are on a roll here. I'm hoping you see that in the figurine itself, so keep going with the model- it looks fantastic.
-Remi
P.S. - Sorry to hear about your lady friend as well.

I like what you've done thus far with the Inquisitrix... And I really wish I had more to add in terms of what to add to her. I know that right now the idea of a skirt on that mini reminds me of Reaper's vampire hunter girl. Not necessarily a bad thing, but something a bit more flowing or ruffled might be better for her.
Whatever you end up doing, great work thus far and keep it up

Right, now that I have had my beauty sleep, I return to give some rather more substantial feedback, as promised Oh, and I agree with Remi, btw: It's sometimes a little hard to elicit a response from the community. And sometimes it makes you want to pull your hair out, because you so desperately want others to comment on those models you just build, right? Relax, it's something we all have to deal with
That being said, let me add some ideas and remarks about all of the retinue members, if I may:
Inquisitor in wheelchair:
Well, there's not much to say. I love this guy! Reading carefully through your posts again yesterday, I realised that you'd already come up with the antigrav idea yourself. It'll be interesting to see how you'll manage to get the model to sit in the chair, but I guess it'll be quite feasible. One thing, though: In your fluff, you are writing about a blanket over the Inquisitor's legs. However, I would prefer the atrophied, bandaged legs to remain visible. It's quite a cool detail that also adds to the overall sinister effect, and it would be a shame to cover it with GS!
Female Interrogator/Inquisitrix:
Like I said, she's coming along nicely! Regarding her hands, FW may be the way to go here, since their hands are usually much slighter than those of regular GW models. I just received some Vraksian Renegade Militia arms as part of a bitz swap the other day, and they are so thin and delicate. The same probably goes for their DKOK arms and similar stuff, so that would be one option of getting hands that work.
Oh, and I really wouldn't give her a SoS style topknot: I realise you want her to have a slightly radical look, but that would be too much of a good thing, in my opinion. If you wanted to really hit it out of the park, you should give her a hairdo like that of the girl on the left in this picture. You may even want to use the whole head instead of going through the hell of having to sculpt something like that. But I think the braid would go well with her clothes as well as underlining her femininity. I also really love that flower as a small element of playfulness (compare PDH's Callydia Benadice), but that's just me. Come to think of it, there are very nice, prefab plastic braids in some DE kits (Wyches and Scourges, respectively).
Pitfighter:
Well, this guy is great! Like PDH, I really like the bionics added to his belly. And while I am not yet 100% sold on the welding mask, that is one detail that could really work once painted!
Kroot:
Well, I've gone through the trouble of building a Kroot for an Inquisitorial retinue myself lately, so I can only say that I quite like this guy!
Sslyth:
The base model is extremely interesting, and while I initially wasn't really feeling the bow, I have begun to like it. The important thing to keep in mind here is that the bow looks like it could also be used as a CC weapon, with those blades on its ends. Regarding the arrows, what about using vicious, nearly organic looking projectiles. Isn't there something in all those Tyranid sprues that might work?
Gunslinger:
Once again, a stroke of genius! Loving the mask and the "Shhh!" pose. My gripe with the model is that, instead of looking atrophied, the left arm rather seems a bit too long, but that may just be the picture. In any case, I would probably drop the mutant angle altogether: The "Fallen noble" idea is much more interesting, and by adding mutation on top, you may run the risk of "overcrowding" his background, if you know what I mean.
Phew, look at me rambling on and on... I guess we can take it as proof for the fact that this retinue has all the makings of something truly special! I am very much looking forward to seeing some progress on these guys!
Hope this helps!

Interesting. I think it looks like she is wearing prosthetic/bionic leg things, like her feet are somewhere near the middle of the model's calf, and the hoofed foot is a mechanical part, maybe to increase her movement speed or just for looks - like she is emulating the assorted hooved beasts of chaos. It's a good look.
Not really a fan of the garter and exposed skin, it seems a bit gratuitous and it's hard to imagine an inquisitor being taken seriously in that sort of attire - although it works for a full blown Slaanesh enthusiast.

Thankyou guys, it means a lot
HF Izanagi - When it came to cutting off the legs, I didn't even have a saw to cut them carefully, which is why the backs of them have quite a bit of greenstuff work on them. You have no idea how much I sobbed when I was cleaving them off with a large pair of pliars. The hoof legs actually do have heels incidently! I'll try and get a picture up at some point to showcase it, and they were really what sold me on using them, they just look so sinister and feminine, whilst giving off the image of 'powered' Armour.
Izanagi and Krautscientist - Hair is still very much open to ideas. I have a topknot from the chaos warrior box set that looks pretty swanky on her head, but I am open for ideas. A witch hunters hat could work, for example, or a long braided ponytale. Also, Kraut, the only reason I'm a bit reluctant on the head swaps, is again, this lady is mostly 'true' 28mm. Her head really is small, and I'd be quite reluctant to lop her head off and replace it to find her new one is a bit too big! But I think I could go for a braid.
Xeno99 - Thanks man I can see what you mean about the skirt... maybe back to the drawing board? I'll go interneting to try and find a better option.
Thankyou guys for the feedback so far!

I definitely see your point! Like I said, the DE braids may be the safest way to go. In the Wych kit, the braids come as extra pieces (to be attached to the squadleader's head), and in the Scourge kit, the long braid is a part of the champion's head, but would be very easy to cut off. I really wouldn't use the topknot with a shaved head, but that's just my personal taste.
Anyway, looking forward to your next update!

Hi folks. I have an update coming, but I need a little bit of advice first.
You all remember this lovely lady, right?
You may also remember a bit of conflict over her hair. I thought a topknot, others thought it'd be a bad idea. I'm starting to see their point however, and I'm unsure what to do with it. So I'm asking you lovely folks for a bit of advice. Here's the options:
I own this miniature, and was planning on embiggening her to make her more human sized. However, this is a LOT harder than I anticipated, and she is as of now still untouched in my bitz box. So my question to you is, would this head be a good replacement? It'd be a fairly simple conversion, but my only fear is that I would be ruining the original model it comes from. What to do?
Option 2:
This was the original idea, to have a Sister of Silence style topknot going on. On the plus, I already have a piece primed for attachment, thanks to the warriors of Chaos Boxed set, but my peers (curse you Kraut! ) have disagreed, and I am inclined to agree.
Option 3:
Recently I have been playing Farcry 3. There's a character in the game called Citra, who is really something. Would her hairstyle fit the miniature do you think? This is a whimsical thought, but I would seriously love to hear your input! The miniature itself is taking on a bit of a tribal look as is, so it could be something to consider.
I'll probably have an update up later today if you guys are interested, but I would absolutely love to hear your feedback!
Thankyou,
Ghosty
