Subject: The Bloggit: 31st August - gargantuan Squiggoth wip continued - gringorks? Mexicorks? Who knows?!
@mt: some cool ideas there, I shall have a think and a play. And yes, there is a mariachi band planned. Rhere tou go again, stealing ideas out of my brain... Snotling with double bass, anyone? They're planned for one of the wings.
@bigfish: a pleasure to have you aboard sir, and thanks for kind comments!
@reiko: I'd love to take credit for the terkiller but it's part of the Kromlech accesories with the heads, as are the maracas. There will also be bottles of Korona kicking about, which are from black cat bases (great stuff btw, and they send you obe of 7 different 28mm cats free with every order) - same folk I got the tiny cowboy hats for my Confederate grots from.

We refuse to take sides in this anymore. And we refuse to let you turn us against one another. We know who we are now, we can find our own way between order and chaos...
It's over because we've decided it's over. Now get the hell out of our galaxy! Both of you.

Good on you for 'owning up' as it were...they are really well done though, and well incorporated into your Orks.
Really? 7 cats? Thats pretty awesome straight off the bat

@ mt: ole. No, wait, oh-lay. It's spelled ole, see? And no I will not be doing an ed209 dread as a taco stand.

Hey guys.
Back at work 4 weeks - haven't picked up a brush. Really need to get my paint stick on. However.
My garage - spray space, mini storage, as well as mundane stuff - is collapsing. So I have limited facilities and a spiralling bill (£2-3k just now, which is better than £20/30k, but still) - yay, RL. Seriously considering changing my username to middleagedrage (told my boss this, he suggested middleagedmiddleclassrage )
Aaaaaaanyway. Hence the lack of any meaningful progress - doesn't excuse my low post rate around dakka, that's more down to general exhaustion.
Sorry for the moan. I shall attempt to get my act together.
In other news, did get a couple of games of saga in against erithromycin. Wow, what a game it is. The battle board mechanic is fascinating and really deep strategically. I recommend it very highly indeed. I did get trounced but it was enormously impressive and fun as fun thing covered in fun.

Having just survived a week and a half with two girls with Chickenpox I can understand exhaustion!
Don't stress out about Dakka posts bud, you will get to it when you can.

Okay Mexican Orks on the back of the Tarascus awesome. The Grot Mriarchi band is a brilliant touch by the way. I take it there's going to be a big fight between them and the Defilorks at the Alamork?

@bh: ack, been there, currently it's tonsillitis tennis between my two.
@llamahead: thanks buddy, I know your love of converting all things confrontation so glad you approve. As for the Alamo, well, my Sanctum Sororitas and RoB are set for an almighty shindig indeed if I can get my act together.
Secretly though I'm thinking how to do ork gyrocopters from black reach with dark eldar sails...

Might be easier to do this based on the Warbiker kit instead as it's far more flexible

^ also a plan, though I have aobr copters kicking about. Oh, I got a layer of wash down on 21 gk termies today, flesh tones on about a dozen paladins, all of which is progress, and a further stone layer on my ghost knights. AND found mariachi snotling! Yay, progress.

I wanted to post this as an entry in graven's competition even though a last minute work trip will prevent me from finishing it in time. This is a Mantis Warrior Deathwatch scout, just in the build stage... no paint.
It struck me that a scout specifically recruited into the Deathwatch would probably have a special skill of some sort, not just a run-of-the-mill half trained newbie goob. So, really the only scout specialists (out of the vanilla dex) are snipers. My Mantis Warriors have some notoriety for their snipers... specifically the Tranquility Snipers of legend. So, doing a MW Deathwatch scout as a sniper is kind of a natural. Then I started thinking about the utter stupidity of the reality of 40k snipers. Instead of "one shot, one kill", it's more like "12 shots, one kill" (for a marine opponent). Those kinds of odds would never fly for an elite sniper in a chapter known for it's snipers.
With that as the background, I humbly offer my unofficial entry into graven's Deathwatch competition... "One Shot, One Kill"

Aww bad times graven (and terribly late response from me ) Hope you get it all sorted mate.
middleagedrage is an EXCELLENT handle however, may steal that later in life, midtwentiesrage doesnt have quite the same ring to it...

It's the *hit-eating grin & the stogie in combination with the thumbs up that makes it work. I could have him holding a Lehman Russ instead of the las cannon and it'd still look OK.

I've managed to get some actual paint onto models, and am fairly pleased with the results. Mordrak is still very wip, and there's another squad and a half of tagk at this same stage:
Ridiculously proud of the fact the daemon's head has the impression of the hammer in it.
Might even try to freehand a baroque =][= on the cloak.
Might.
And the ghost knights. Essentially weeping angel scheme, but with green eyes and weapons. Pics are bit dark, sorry, lamp blew and haven't yet managed to discreetly thieve wife's old light tent.
The old kendo gks are hands down one of my favourite gw digs ever. They're actually pretty close to being done, really it's just going to be a case of dulling down, and then highlighting up, the bases. Want to keep these pretty simple.
Nice comparison hopefully of old and new. I wanted the ghost knights to show the spread of tagk that would've been the core of the monasteries defence.
Love the old figs! The "regular" librarian style gks have really grown on me, actually.
And a paladin (deceased) and fusion-fig of lots eras.
So yeah, paint.
Hopefully there will soon be more! C&C me if you're so minded,
Graven
