I've been brainstorming/procrastinating on Solar Lion's Dark Angel. I've been going through stuff that's been in storage at my parent's place for the last 10 years and sorting out what gets thrown away/given to charity/kept out or put back into storage. A couple of days ago I found something old that's inspired what I'll be doing.

I think the scheme is fine, if anything I'd shift the purple to a lighter shade like indigo or lavender. I just saw another army here on Dakka, 2700 points of Ultramarines composed entirely in the old 3rd and 2nd edition sculpts and painted in the classical blue and yellow. Back in the day I used to play against a guy with a Pepto-Bismal pink Marine army and there's a kid at my LGS now with a magenta Tau army. I feel like there's not many people now doing armies that are genuinely colorful and vibrant.

Think you might be right a lighter shade could work. Ill try that on next marine of this scheme.

Not many people do colorful armies, seems funny due to the broad range of colors marines decide to paint their armor. I had a friend who painted a beautiful female guard army with lots of pinks and purples. That was nice, in particular his hellhounds.

Update on Dust's Marine. Still plenty of work to do.

I'm still assembling Solar Lion's marine and I'm looking to see if anyone knows of a (SM or other) kit that might have a good crew cut/flat top type marine head. I found an old pic that's inspired what I'm putting together to a degree, and while the final figure will be quite different, that's one element I'd like to keep if at all possible.

The Sternguard box has one in it.

The intent of the GMS has alway been to push your skills in making and trading Marines ( or any figure really) The intent wasn't to get rid of what you have or just swap figures. You can paint those marines in other chapeter colors without trading. That is why we generally make new trades to challenge us and make it individually special ( This has all been said before on this blog ) Not saying you can't do any trading; Just wanted you to understand the intent.

I now return you to your regular scheduled blog....

Thanks, but probably not going to pay $8 postage for one head. I'll see what I can scrounge up from elsewhere.

I have received two marines from Lord Marcus and he has two of mine.

Kavika has notified me that he's shipped out his Imperial fist.

I'm still waiting on a marine from Gitsplitta but he was working on sorting through a hobby apocalypse last I checked.

I'm just notifying everyone because some things are accelerating with my work right now, hence why I haven't had a chance to post up pictures of Lord Marcus's trades yet. I'll also be taking a step back from the Great Marine Swap for a little while, just until I sort through some stuff and get my work projects under control. Just notifying everyone so that you all know what's going on. I'm not backing out of any trades or leaving anyone hanging, I just need to work on other stuff right now.

I wanted to do a swap before I vanished from Dakka. I am new to painting marines but, I am thinking of painting a Son of Orar for someone. (I don't know if he will be good or not as this will be the first time I've painted minis. I will give it a shot though.)

I am biased to wanting to receive a Lamenter though. They're pretty baller, and I want one for a Diorama I am making.

Ask Solar_lion, he's a Lamenter player and has done many swaps.

Do I pm him or just ask him from here?
