loving the squat!

Thanks you guys - there will be more squats soon - found a nest of them hiding in one of my miniature stashes - there's about 8 of em complete with heavy weapons and leaders.

Strange dream last night - I dreamt that Jimmy saville touched me in a bad way so I had to assassinate him and his two evil clones to save the children and avenge my honour. I got the two clones with a rockfall trap and the shot the original saville with an arrow to the face. It was all kind of skyrim style - I think I used a daedric arrow to administer the coup de grass . Quite frightening really, in the dream savile was quite a powerful bad guy and he nearly got me with his magic fireballs, and I really did believe it was happening. Weird - but I'm strangely proud to have defeated dream-saville.

Anyway back to reality - a supply drop from TheTrollTrader.com, a great little company in Nequay, Cornwall. These were a real steal considering they are normally 9 pounds each and I beat him down to 6 apiece.

Sir Jimmy Saville was a BBC DJ who became very popular for his (supposedly) charitable works for children and his odd appearance. Since he died it has became apparent that he sexually molested at least 700 teenagers during his long career. Its been all over the papers recently and was bound to end up in my tortured nightmares sooner or later.

I forget that Americans have probably never heard of him - he was mega celeb over here.

He had a knighthood - Its like finding out that your favourite uncle shoots puppies. Although come to think of it he was always a bit of a creepy weirdo.

In the dream he had a weird temple on wheels. It had magical statues that fired spinning metal discs at me and I had to deflect them back to destroy the statues. Then I ran and did a spinning leap into the temple - Sir Saville shouted "NOW THEN NOW THEN!" and began to draw his golden mace, quick as a flash I drew my bow and shafted him right between his eyes, shattering his trademark rose tinted sunglasses into a thousand shards. It was awesome. Best dream ever.

Ah, we've had our share of those too unfortunately. Perhaps that dream was "closure" for your subconscious...

Hahahahaha no I'm really not that sure of the fine detail. Maybe I was an elf? It would partially explain the outfit.

My holiday is coming up - lots of painting.

First day of the holiday and I'm off too a quick start. An exercise in batch painting and a new look for the squats. I'm very happy with the way the colours fit together. I will put up some more pics when I finish the bases. Click for zoomable.

An enthusiastic reception for the squats! Its ever so tempting to strip the others and mass-repaint my squat army now. But I should probably paint some of the huge pile of unpainted minis I have first.

Here is the finished squad. All nicely based and ready. Very fine looking now I'm basing them I think.

All hail the squats

Beautiful work weety, nice bases too, good complement to the minis. That's a great looking squad, great faces - the contemplating cigar chomper, the grinning las-cannoneer and the scowling dude, quality stuff.

That's a really neat squad. I like almost every squat model GW produced, and you've made them into a very nice and cohesive unit. For some odd reason though, I keep thinking of Gamma World.

Excellent Squats Weets!

Would it be considered blasphemy if I took those old squat minis and upgraded the weapons to the new look? This gives me some ideas, provided that those old minis aren't worth a fortune by now.

Unfortunately they are about 4 pounds each for simple troopers in the buy it now section. You will get cheap deals on plastic squats and squats missing their arms and seeing as you are converting them anyway its a win win situation.

I want a squad of squats for my IG army. I found several on eBay that look promising that are all metal. I think. No funds at the moment though.

You should all totally get some squats for your armies. Let me know if you do and show pics.

Slightly blurred photo of my commissar, I think I need to take another photo with a different background - anyway he isn't quite finished I just noticed a gem on his sword which needs paint. I never actually painted this guy before even though I've had him for years, he was already painted when I got him to quite a high standard - But now I think I can do better.

Thanks - the photo doesn't really do it justice.

I used to give all my minis an orange tan, and I blame citadel and their jersey shore style flesh wash. I'm glad I got a better flesh wash!
