Kalervo Borgvald, Ordo Xenos Interregator.

This is the finished Borgvald!

Edit: Fluff now included, as always feedback is appreciated.

Interrogator Borgvald;
A conceited, arrogant individual who walks with a purposeful stride.

Kalervo Borgvald was originally born into a wealthy merchant family and through his youth dreamed of travelling the stars like his parents, not for wealth, but for adventure. A member of the Ordo Xenos and interrogator to Lord Inquisitor Blomkamp, a wickedly intelligent individual who believes that the best way to kill your enemy is to use their own weapons against them. Kalervo adheres to Blomkamps doctrines strictly and agrees completely with his philosophies, he has always been fascinated by Xeno Tech, fascinated to the point where obsessed is starting to become more of an appropriate description.

Some time ago Inquisitor Blomkamp had learned of the existence of a powerful Xeno weapon called The Arche Spear, it is said that the weapon belonged to an ancient civilisation believed to have inhabited a solar system somewhere in the obscurus sector, they were known as The Progenitors, a race of mythical demi gods long since consigned to the annals of history, thought to have been swallowed up by the old gods in some cataclysmic extinction event. Blomkamp had come by an old tome called 'The Book of The Progenitor' at one of the Archeo and Xeno Tech markets that he regularly frequented. During intense study the book slowly started to reveal hidden passages and ciphers, this is where he learned of the artefact and the book appears to be pointing to a location that the Progenitors could have hidden the fabled weapon prior to their downfall. It is possible that the weapon still exists, it is imperative that the weapon is found and put to use against enemies of the Imperium.

Thanks! I used an empire free company torso and legs, the servo skull from the fw tech priest as a head, the arms are from the de wracks, the backpack is made from a tau bit on the riptide sprue, a de wrack bit and guitar wire, think the sword in sheath is from the sm scouts?

That's just bloody awesome that it. The skull mask is sweet as....can just see the guy stripping the skull of a mark and sawing it in half before putting in on his own face and staring out through the empty eye sockets of his target. Superb work

I have finished Kasky and Raine, released from their imprisonment by Borgvald to aid in his quest for the Arche Spear, Kasky is a moderately powerful rogue psyker. Once in the employ of Inquisitor Corvidae, he was allowed to grow unfettered and powerful, slowly turning insane. Corvidae covered his deviancy for as long as he could but before long it came too much to the fore and he was hunted down and captured. Borgvald needing a powerful mind with comprehensive knowledge of the forbidden sought him out. A covert operation was launched and the psyker was retrieved along with some unexpected baggage, the extraction method was high ex mounted to the exterior cell walls, it blew Raines cell also. Raine, once a naval rating (imprisoned for braining a fellow rating who tried to cheat him at cards) proved invaluable to the exit strategy was allowed to accompany the cell off world and is now a fledgling member.

Seeing the pictures now I feel I rushed the paint jobs, I could have done better but I'm happy with them.

Thanks guys, glad you like them.

This is the last member of Borgvalds retinue, ace pilot Zeph Malik.

Inducted into service at an early age he was singled out for his quick reactions and high aptitude. Able to read situations in the blink of an eye and adjust just as quickly he has been responsible for the safe passage of Borgvald and his accomplices for many years.

My favourite top down view

And a group shot, rather a poor one, any advice on group shots appreciated

Looks good!

I always find shots of any more than three or four minis tricky, but sometimes, taking them further away and then zooming/cropping can help get them all in focus. The plainer the background the better as well, so the minis don't get lost.

I find having multiple levels within the photo composition helps (not like school photos), but have some rubble etc strewn around with a model on top helps draw the eye in a standard photo. Otherwise in agreement with Paradigm regarding simple backgrounds etc. I meant to ask where you got your's from?

It's also fun to have the angle of shot quirky. For example, do some close-ups of Borgvald in focus but camera at floor level tilted up to be aimed at the head of whoever's at the back. If you do that you tend to need an SLR so you can manually change the f stop to something like f22 so everything is in focus. The figures would need to be in a V shape with Borgvald at the point of the formation

Ahem! Is this where so admit to being a camera nerd too

Awesome retinue, nice riffs on the scions kit. I like the henchman pose with the crossed chainsword and of course, the cyber-mastiff is the best.

camera advice: There are too much shadows in your shots. you need to put some translucent material (bubble wrap, white fabric, plastic, etc) in between your light source and light it all around. and turn off the flash too if that is it. even better take the photo outside on a cloudy day, you just need diffused omnidirectional light. You will find it vastly easier to take some sort of group shot where all the minis are lined up, even though it is hard to fit all the minis in the picture.

Thanks, the background is just tiles from the dust tactics boardgame, I think they suit the atmosphere of necromunda and urban 40k.

Thanks for the tip, I'll get something to diffuse the light, no flash, it's a white led bulb.

The pilot looks spiffing mate, the cheque pattern really emphasise the pilot theme especially on the helmet.

I also like the chainsaw with hazard stripes made me chuckle that one, great stuff again but have you considered alternatives Instead of using guitar wire

I only mention it as you have got some very obvious bends, Zinge industries does some great alternatives in bendy wires and bendable resins

It's the first time I've really used guitar wire, it is difficult to bend properly I'm finding. I have looked at zinge but the price difference made my choice. I am now rethinking that though so may use zinge in future conversions.

Guitar wire is cheap but has it's down falls, one it's a bastard to bend and paint chips easily from it.

Hey guys, I have been a bit quiet of late, work has been manic but I have managed some hobby. I have been building terrains! It is all very much WIP so far, I have also downloaded the posters and signs from yaktribe to tart them up a little when finished. I have also tried to make it so that we can access all interior areas as well, I am still building so More on the way, I'll post pics as they are done.
