Yeah, but if you load up the Platoon with HWTs in the squads, it makes a nice defensive gun line that your enemy thinks twice about getting too close

I absolutely LOVE teaching Marines that they are not as invulnerable as they think they are! But I haven't had the opportunity to use a FRFSRF order on them yet. I'd bet it was GLORIOUS!

He was approaching a 30man platoon, FRFSRF pumped 90 shots total, his squad took 65shots to the face, one marine left to assault with, the commissar was proud as the platoon took him down in one round.

Grunts are LD-8, Sgt gives LD-9 and they have a rule' "And we shall know no fear!" allows marines to recover their resolve even at less than half strength squads. He made his LD check, and charged into the building tossing frags and got gang stomped!

They are chosen as the best their planets have to offer, supposed to be a blend of physical and mental cream of the crop. a Marine grunt is as LD as a standard IG sgt. But they also have issues with losing.

Pretty much, the modifications are to the body, and all they do with the mind is erase the self preservation some.
