Valhalla130 wrote:Reading over this thread has gotten me to looking at pics of WWI tanks. Primarily the British tanks because that seems to be what the GW tanks are based on. You could almost call their design aesthetic "Imperial Steampunk."
lol... call that lot all british valhalla? there is a german tank inbetween... but you are basically right... my earlier tanks all had that archaic look ...as i quite hard fell in love with these^^
and ruglud... this night... this night... promise!
new trackguards... bulking the tank up quite a bit...
and here... i´ve added the landing pad with some minor variations for psoitions... what do you like? do you think i should skip it? i cherish your thoughts...
I am thinking an attempt at girders like supports underneat, like 4 pillarsof steel.
If any tank deserved the name Brunhilde this one is IT

on top...
or humpback style?
I'd go with humpback, looks more sturdy for heavy aircraft to land on, but this is a tank over 38,000 years after the era which it's based off, anything's possible

brunhilda... now that is a name i could get used to^^
as for the pillars... well i think it was dave who suggested this as well... kind of... he talked about springs and stuff...
Ruglud wrote:The 'humpback' style works best for me... I can see a Zinge industry style door leading onto the platform.
I'm not keen (sorry) on the 'on top' version, the pad looks way too small all the way up there - it looks bigger as the 'humpback'
A Humpback tank
Am liking the track guards
thanks for the tracksguards... and actually i am more fond of the humpback version too... looks more sturdy and more likley to me too... and gets the whole look a bit less compressed looking...also i think it stll needs a bit of thickening up nevertheless... and the hatch ontop of the pad is a must... already planned! count on that

hehe^^ well i won´t go for the future excuse everything issue... a bit of realism in fantasy never hurt no one
Have you tried the pad level with the cabin roof? On nice steel, rivited girders?
Eh...
Inmygravenimage: That's sweet dude. I bet her ass is bad...
Camkierhi - What a load of rubbish... Amazing!
Rogue Wolves - Its rediculous how much character you pack into those guys
Skalk Bloodaxe: I know those will be awesome when finished, but right now they look like crackers.

I kind of like the idea of girders supporting it, but I like the humpback version. It's too bad you're liking Brunhilde. I may still use that name somehow for one of my tanks. lol
The trackguards look great. I can't wait to see this thing finished. BUt don't rush it!

well...^^ rule of cool and a bit of realism thrown inbetween^^

actually i tried that... but i wanted to do something with the roof of said cabin too...
as for girders...see below...

never! rushing... i think that is something i am not capable of^^... even if i try^^
as for the girders... i think i detect a pattern here^^
and brunhilde is not trademarked... there might be room enough in a big universe for at least a second one^^
cormadepanda wrote:very clever vik! love the progress.
clever... lol... the amount of hacking needed for that build... better make that cleaver
shasolenzabi wrote:Plenty of votes for girder posts Vik!
lol... yeah... seems many of you guys see the need for these... in fact i wanted to make a construction that has a sort of flexible /shockresistant conecting tunnel from the pads hatch to the hull...then the girders maybe even wth springs to make it look shockabsorbing would be the best thing...
atm i am working on beefing out the pad as it was too thion looking... hopefully i have time tomorrow to make some more progress and some pics even... i need to get me soon some more materials and some tools to cut PC in way thinner and cheaper bands than for the price of the evergreen rods... 1mm and 2mm rods i need atm but my cutting abilities are lacking quite a bit... i will soon get me some nice planking cutters... and that mitermaster dave showed in his thread to really get some more detailmaking started...
argh... do you know those big all you can eat dinners...where you get that tines plate... and so many options... i feel like that already... and now you come with these pistons... argh.... how can one mere mortal like me just fething decide!!!!?

I was thinking it might be cool to be able to drop the platform off and have the vehicle move off to fight.
Good luck deciding.
that would actually be pretty cool, quite thunderbird 2 style

now that new twisted idea is even more cruel... i am full of soft spots it seems...i like that idea a lot... tho i doubt i could really make it work... tho i can probably get away with a two part tank and pad then...actually a very good idea...
Looks great Vik! I agree though, needs some sort of support to fill it out, not too overstated though.
