The various plasticard sheets should be a big help... I didn't know it came in different patterns/textures for a long time but once I found it I was in love

i often went to hobby shops and drooled at the shelves of patterned PC... so expensive... but it really is most inspiring!

on a side note... tomorrow i hopefully will be able to provide you with some MW pics... all heavy WIP still but i aplied the first basecoats!

note, the pics are auto adjusted... in person the green looks very leaf- like looking... which I actually totally love! thanks gitsplitta for making me try that color... also the shoulder pads I realize are still not fully seen...I need to take tomorrow some better pics all around the minis to better show my self made paddesign...

thatsa very deep green you got going on and im no osl expert all i can do is drink your beer and root for you to get more done so thats what im gonna do.

dunno if I achieve actual OSL...which I would love to...but a glow effect... that is the main thing I aim for... tho if I get the glow right... than the OSL at least on the rock would be possible?....

as for the green... autoadjustment made it look a bit weirder... in reality it looks like a really strong and living sapling... or a juicy leaf...

thanks mates!... the shroom to paint is a very tedious thing to do... if it weren´t I could even dream my way towards a full board with these as a plant live all over... but I guess this would take my sanity to new lows^^

I can't really tell on the current shroom colour, the picture is a bit dark for me (I think I have the brightness on my monitor much darker than anyone else...). But starting dark is good and if you blend them up through the colours in your reference pic' they will look cool.

As for the stems, I would say dark. As they will give contrast to the glowing shrooms (and therefore make them look brighter) and you could (maybe) use the stems to show osl, which will look better over a dark base colour.

I would work from the darkest pink ( if the pic is the reference ) to the almost bright white if that makes sense yes a whole board of them would be your death

as for dark stems... dark as in dark puple or dark as in black?

Aha! I've had my grubby mitts on that VERY SAME aquarium plant at the store! Very cool deep purple color tho

in fact it is no aquarium plant...but still awesome^^...

but I do own a small collection of aquarium plants nevertheless^^

Ahh, fair enough. Many times, someone has put up a picture and everyone else seems to be able to see things I can't...

Blending, I can't help you with much as I use different paints than you.
However, something you could try if blending is not working is feathering.
Use the smallest brush you have and do many tiny tiny thin strokes out from the centre of each shroom.
Start dark (as LDD said) and work up in as small increments as you can (the nearer the shades the better the blend) all the way to white at the very edge.
If you offset the strokes of adjacent shades you can get them quite close together and it will look a smooth colour transition and will actually give a little texture that smooth blending won't.

What are the stems now? I would say dark purple with black for shading.

the blending is a very hard method for me... but many small strokes... that I probably can manage! that´s exactly the kind of tip I was hoping for!

I'd have started with white to make those glow, but either way works fine. You got a good green to contrast nicely with it already.
