now that sounds like an expensive but really forward school... atm i don´t know of ANY german school not even remotly close to that amount of tech level used...? i live behind the moon i think....
and yep... that´s around exactly what happend to us... only... we don´t even try to let our kids sleep somewhere else the last coupla years... in-laws on both sides are worse than your average Uncle Scrooge... so no help there... well... it is as it is... mostly my wife is complaining anyway^^

yes... i am feeling with you... i know it is probably better to let go... but sometimes it really feels as if i would rather loose a hand than have my kids grow up

Yes, I've seen that too, even in Higher Education, teachers having to buy their own supplies because the school can't/won't

Most of the schools i know of here in sweden use iPads or laptops. and the food in the school is free and it's even healthy.

you guys kinda scare me from having kids at all. it's all like, first you never get any sleep, and then your life's never gonna be the same, and then having to let them go.

well sweden still is one of a smallish populated countries in the world... this brings a bunch of benefits with it... the whole juggernaut of govern-mental () institutions costs so much and all the white collars that benefit from that too suck up so much...you have less and thus can spend more for quality... man... i really should get out of here

Same people for the blimp, they are still working on it though .

For education here anyways it really depends upon your district. Most have problems getting extra funding, but our home district is well established and the people see the way the money is spent, and are willing to vote for extra taxes to cover expenses. The one my wife teaches in is high income, but the people are house poor. Basically they have such expensive homes that they don't even have furniture for every room. No joke, my wife and other teachers went door to door a few years back to help get the word out about needing funding for AC, heating and asbestos abatement, and most of the homes were stark naked on the inside. People are driving expensive cars, high end homes, but are on the free lunch program because they don't earn enough . Our old district before we moved last year was just poor families, older folk on welfare, and a school that was overcrowded. Our kids were stars there, but that's not saying much as most families couldn't help teach their kids.

I've done a lot of service calls in homes in those areas around here. I've seen it too. Not a lick of furniture!! I don't understand why people HAVE to have those McMansions in the subdivisions. The construction is cheap on them, no trees in the yards. All people seem to care about is bragging that "they live in so-and-so subdivision" who cares?

yup... that is in essence the core of the malady... there was once a movement here were they offed executives in the seventies... wrong kind of execution of an idea... but the right idea nevertheless...and white collars in government are the same as CEO´s...IMHO...

i think that is a world wide problem... eductation is something like eating... no one wants to pay for the meal and no one wants to spend hours in front of the oven but wnats a meal nevertheless...kindergarden employees or teachers... all looked at poorly... as if they are mere servants and storage personal for looking after the kids so the parents can work while the kids are tucked away...

Nice MDF blimp

I worked for a answering service which had such a sub division as a client, guy was upset as his shag rugs and expensive wood funriture suffered water damage as the poor fit of the house components(They prefab parts and let them sit in the weather while trying to make them in time,) his over the front door had a octagonal window frame which allowed lots of rain water to leak in and his dining room was in about an inch of water,,,,25mm the warranty had been a mere 6 months on a house that is supposed to last for years??? As for people needing to pay for their own equipment that their job is supposed to provide for them Vik? That is part of the negative side of Globalization and Coporatism taking over the world today. "Privatization" = Corporatization of services, overpriced and worse than when governments did them.

I have worked in home improvement sales for 17+years, and the quality put into a house just astounds me. It's one of the reasons we sold a 13year old house to buy a 70+ year old home. I got to be present one day when the fire Marshall brought a guy into the store to make sure he bought he right wire. He had his inspection done on a remodel and had used lamp cord to wire everything from the junction box . He claimed one of my electrical guys (master electrician by trade) told him he should use that instead because it was cheaper and wire is wire.

Needless to say we didn't allow him to return the lamp cord that he had used in his house. Also he needed new drywall as he was extra stupid and dry walled before getting the electrical permit signed off .

I feel sorry for some people.....not all of them though.

Well if I had to choose I'd say go with the dowels. The green things just look like plant pots, nothing techie, the orange things aren't doing it for me either, I guess they are too round. The dowels have more overall texture.
