for a grot idea... I have a giant plastic egg I am atm working on to magic it to a giant mechanical squig...

The Trojan Squig idea is very intriguing though.

Well you could make a range of sizes, like a Daddy, Mummy and Baby Giant Mechanical Trojan Squigs...

I totally agree with Vik about dumb people. Yesterday sucked. May have something to do with the full moon. They say there's no connection, but when I'm having a really trying day usually I wind up looking to the sky and asking God "why?", he responds by having the full moon right there in my face , even God "moons" me when I'm down, that's how I know he has a sense of humor. Well that, the platypus, and Games Workshop executives .

Vik didn't realize that grot is just another term for gremlin, and now he has those loose in his home with the grot fighter, nothing is safe anymore.

Vik, your Grot fighta is pretty cool man! Lots of Orky character involved in that diorama. Love the two pilots fighting over the controls, and the Storm Boys grot hanging on the exhaust port in the back...classic!

I am a fan of Mech horse for guard. It seems so Viktorian.

well i didn´t do much atm with the mobile... but it died on me nevertheless... at first i thought the battery was just low... so it got a new charge.... but that didn´t help either... so now it has been send to repairs... two weeks of waiting... well tow weeks the "friendly" guy at the counter said.... and i know what that is supposed to mean in RL terms...half a year...*grrrrrr*

at panda... yup... the iron horse is only possible for my steampunk guard force!

on a hobby related note.... i tried to start with a squig walker... but for now that has to rest... too much fuzz with the legs i tried to get working.... i need some fresh ideas there...

so i started with another project... it will be grot tech... that´s for sure... and it will be a funny project too.... but atm i cant show you something... it needs to be at a more progressed stage to be able to show....otherwise you probably only have big questionmarks in your eyes

What sort of squig walker were you thinking? A giant mechanical squig on two legs, or something else. Give me an idea and I'll bounce stuff back at you.

Steal the legs from a dinosaur for the giant squig.

Oh and now I am very curious as to what you are upto.

well i have this big (around fist sized) plastic easter egg... for hanging on braches and so as decoration.... this should be made to look like agiant metal plated squig mech... the pointy end would be the mouth (weather i cut it open to have seeable gorts inside or not remains to be seen... in essence i need legs that look a bit like the sentinel legs.... but somehow it always looks too flimsy or too fishy... and if i am not sold on the look it gets recycled...


so if you have any ideas... i am open!

Vik, I think you have your egg turned around backwards. Some squigs have tails. Make the round side the front, and the oblong side the tail.

I'll try and get a photo of the tailed squig I have.

Really quick idea as I'm leaving for church as soon as the wife gets home.

I used an extra egg to show an idea that I would try. Cut holes or build eyes for the pilot/gunners to look out. Guns could be in the nose. Teeth like you did on the grot bomb. For the hip joint use the cap from a medicine bottle. Build legs with cardboard/ scrap plastic card armor. The tail is where you can have the engine, with smoke stacks coming out of the tail like the spikes on this squig. Finally put the access hatch to get into the squib under the rump.

Just a quick idea off your idea.

oh......i think i have thouhgt it the wrong way... your version makes way more sense.... thank you!!!... do you think i should do piston style legs as the sentinel has or would i get away with a fully armored leg like you show? so that no cables and pistons are to be seen?

and i like your ideas of smokestacks and guns...

also.... i have to ask... how often do you attend church?... from what you post here it seems you go at least three times a week? if not more? i know you´re very active in your comunity but i was wondering how often for real.... and... is this somewhat tiresome for you or is it (hopefully) strengthening and refreshing for you? i know that church attendece can be viewed that way and this way...(i am asking this not to pull your finger here but because i notice certain things and i am just interested...ok... i am nosy too )

I agree with Theo, except on the pilot. I think you would be better to pilot a squig by the tonsils. Another words mouth agape with Grot pilot sat on tongue. I have seen this somewhere, can't remember where.

As to the legs, up to you, but if you look at the dredds and kans they make at the moment, they are simple legs, they have pistons etc. I would upscale them, a man of your talents can manage this easily.

Vik, I think the more exposed mechanikal stuff the better on grot tech, definitely have pistons with bandages slowing leaks in the hydraulic cables. Make them asymmetrical..with different parts on each side, maybe different looking feet on each side. And definitely have the guns in the mouth, just behind the teeth (so the teeth dont bite down on the barrels--twin linked Big Shootaz?)....since this is the business end of the Squig....or strapped to its back (sort of like the bomb squig). Their noses are really more just a couple of tiny slits, almost an after-thought to the wide, toothy maw.

For the legs I'd do pistons, but you can cover Ny section that your having problems with designing by putting on some armor. Personally I'd go heavy on the armor, with less showing, but you cod have a piece or two missing to show some piston if you like.

We go to church Sunday mornings. Bible study is from 9-10:15am, then church itself is from 10:15-11:45am. They have a Sunday night prayer meeting that is usually about an hour long, but it's not every Sunday, just depends on what else is happening. Wednesday evenings is another prayer service and is like a little mid week tune up for us. Tonight is something special. We are doing some repair work at the church fixing drywall and possibly doing some painting. Since I have no income right now I try to tithe my time, the church just doesn't have a lot for me to do currently. I love the time at this church, we recently changed a few months ago and we are making this our home church now. I was baptized as a infant, and my family is religious, but I'm getting rebaptised this Sunday as an affirmation of my beliefs and to show God that This is MY CHOICE.

I am never afraid to talk about my beliefs, but I usually hang back for questions. If anyone has any feel free to PM me and I'll answer what I can, and get you the others as soon as I can get em.

ach.... i manage some bits quite good.... but somehow i quite often have tried my hands with legs and they look always not really how i picture them...

at fango.... those are some briliant ideas... the bandage idea particularly!... i will try that later on for sure! also the uneven legs/ mismatched legs idea is something i could use to compensate my lack of making mirrored legs... somehow this makes me the most grief....
