LOL... how do you come up with such an amazing idea! LOL... I love it...
I am at a loss how to make it, but I see it is as hilarious as can be!...
the I- beam as skiff idea is a very neat one... I have I-beams at a great amount and actually no apparent use , but now^^
chucking bricks...(lol...anybody thinking about cuck Norris? I think I need a brick then with a beard... or a grot with a cowboy hat?...muahahahaha)
and doc H... I actually had thought of the vogones while making the build... tho at that moment I was quite puzzled as to why...^^ Automatically Appended Next Post: oh...and 475 pages of modelling silliness^^

Quick law for you from scrap pieces. I didn't have any other sections of I beam around, but I would use that for the arms if I were you.
Your ship could be the invention of a Ork who was trapped in a collapsed building. He had visions from Mork or Gork, to use what he had available. So after digging himself out he began collecting the parts of the old human habitat to create Da Brix Laya. It now terrorizes the human habitats were the Ork lines have already pushed ahead. The few humans that survived the attack and the rampaging hordes that followed by burrowing deep come out only to be destroyed by a flying brick. Grots that have fallen behind and left have swarmed to Da Brix Laya in hopes of becoming one of the highly valued positions of 'chukka', who throw bricks out the windows at the fleeing hummies.
I should be an Ork, but I hate mushrooms

JTT was the plastic I'm using.
I forget who showed the trick, but cut a small section of foam for the brick wall piece. Then cut a since sized pc of plastic card to be brick sized. Attach it to a small rod or dowel to it. Tap the brick into the foam to create the brick face. Repeat all around it at varying heights to get an uneven surface.
As for the bricks being thrown, use plastic sprue, unless your following Dr. H, in which case carve out genius from the bricks .

Hello? Did someone mention my name? and sprue?
You could make individual bricks from sprue, but that would be very time consuming.
However, you could make a line of bricks from a length of sprue by just scoring it at regular intervals and then put another length on top with the grooves offset... Still a fair amount of work over a square of foam.
However I'm stuck for ideas of how to make the brick texture on sprue...?

Good Evening,
I hope you don't mind my intrusion? I was just browsing this thread and felt moved to comment on how impressive your work with found objects is. Taking the mundane detritus of the modern world and placing it in a new context where it can be used to reveal the joy of creation and provoke the imagination is a real gift. To stir the narrative of your audience's fantasy is all any artist can ask for, that you do it with the discarded trappings of life is nothing short of remarkable and puts me in mind of some of the great artists of the Dadaist movement, Du Champ for example, or Tracy Emin. Or the found poetry of William Whewell or Hart Seely
Of course I understand that you are not the first nor the only person to recycle their rubbish as raw material for their modelling; I wish only to tell you that I would hold you aloft as an exemplar of the technique, whom. in my re-entry to the world of modelling I would seek to learn from and emulate.
With Kind Regards

ha... of course... but still I tend to stick to one material at a project... so probably no foam works this time as I want to spray prime it this time... I think this projects needs a sturdy paintjob...

yup... sprue atm is highly in favour for me... I think this way leads the way to success... and those individual bricks will be of course made from sprue....
and since you made quite some good use of plastic cement for smoothing your sprue works... it can work the other way around too... you can soften the bricks and then add texture into the slightly softened sprue brick...

well... I think your hamster ball idea derives from the origin of the ball... it is a cat´s toy I just totally re- used... I dunno if I can do this still... the ball structure has been quite immensely rearranged... I was more about to build a gunner inside the ball...but I grant you... that is again a spectacular idea

As to the grot carrying some bricks, a traditional method here at least would be a "hod". See pic below. And I know I have grots that look like they are carrying something on there shoulders, and it would be relatively easy to make.
