I've been playing wh40k: dawn of war 1 definitive edition with the soulstorm campaign as imperial guard.
In the campaign i've had a tougher time fighting off sisters of battle but i think i've finally figured out how to fight tau as imperial guard. I have most of kaurava 1 (except the sisters hq) and at least half of kaurava 2 (the one with space marines, tau and orks). Tau have 2 territories, space marines 1, orks 1 and sisters about 4 (but they're heavily cut off from their base after deciding to fight chaos).
Chaos and Dark Eldar are going nowhere in there fights as are necrons and eldar. Oddly Sisters are the only other faction actually taking some ground in the game besides my Imperial Guard. Then again i sort of made life hard for the tau, space marines and orks cluster feth that existed before.
Anyway i'm planning to start taking out some enemy hq's.

Gone back to Fallout 4, as they’ve given away a bunch of Creation Club content as a free update.
Now, as well as an Explosive Combat Shotgun and Explosive Assault Rifle? I have an Exploding Radium Rifle. Ho ho oh no, say all my foes, shortly before they rapidly detonate.

Well I was mildly miffed at my TW2 saves being erased from the timespace continuum, so to assuage my annoyance I bought Hollow Knight and a game called Inmost.
Inmost was short (a bit too short to be honest, knocked it over in 4 hours), but it was a fun enough platformer with some nice puzzle elements and a really minimalist set of controls, which I quite liked. The graphics are also what I like, and were what made me put in my cart in the first place.
Just installing Hollow Knight now, and I'm looking forward to giving it a whirl, as I've heard quite good things about it.

I really want to play the last DLC in coop with the gang, but I am not looking forward to loading times of up to twenty minutes due to the amount of "required" mods we had installed.
But getting to beat the crap out of those obnoxious woofs and committing mech-heresy with their salvage is a tempting one.

Thanks to addition of the quailies, I'm back being addicted to RimWorld. Speaking of them one male quail snuck into the house today while we were watching Netflix. I fed him with a bit of seed inside, but he got stuck inside the place and freaked out a bit, flying into the kitchen. Then hid behind the pantry. We left him alone, hoping he might find his way out until I saw him sneaking into the workshop, so I had to sneak around to try make him leave, but the quail had moved too far into the workshop. So, I left him alone and he exited eventually, shaking off cobwebs as he waked away.
Sorry for going off topic, and I'm sure it's boring, but I found it funny it so happened now, lol.

My story! Secret War
After his organisation is hired to hunt down an influential gang leader on the Hive world, Omnartus. Attelus Kaltos is embroiled deeper into the complex world of the Assassin. This is the job which will change him, for better or for worse. Forevermore. Chapter 1.
The Angaran Chronicles: Hamar Noir. After coming back from a dangerous mission which left his friend and partner, the werewolf: Emilia in a coma. Anargrin is sent on another mission: to hunt down a rogue vampire. A rogue vampire with no consistent modus operandi and who is exceedingly good at hiding its tracks. So much so even the veteran Anargrin is forced into desperate speculation. But worst of all: drive him into desperate measures. Measures which drives Anargrin to wonder; does the ends, justify the means?

I beat the Ork Stronghold in wh40k: dawn of war-soulstorm's imperial guard campaign. It wasn't too bad except for a couple parts with the multiple squiggoths. It probably would've been easier if i used the psyker ability to stun vehicles on it but i'm not sure if it counts as a vehicle or a monster.
I plan on fighting against the tau stronghold next and i've been figuring out how to beat tau fairly well now.

It's more the fact they are quite mobile and quite tough. The funny thing is i think the baneblade and monolith are both really potent esp. the baneblade but both can go down easily to psyker's curse of the machine spirits ability to make them immobile and unable to attack (or at least attack outside of melee). They also kept shooting out multiple squiggoths from one hq so i had to take down anywhere from 3 to 4 or so of em with my forces which really thinned me out because i left a baneblade for defense of the center point oddly.

Ok Hollow Knight is insanely fun. I can see why people went bonkers for Silksongs release. The gameplay is fun, yet difficult enough to be challenging in the right places, controls are nice and simple and the storyline is pleasingly opaque. I can see why it is so highly regarded. Not to mention the artwork and the soundtrack. Both are excellent and all the backgrounds to the various areas do a great job of some subtle environmental storytelling.

Been replaying my old Star Trek Armadas the last couple of months, also reinstalled the fleetops mod and the Tactival Maneuvers Mod, fun stuff to have a go for half an hour every now and then.
Got Space Marine 2 because of Winter Steam Sale and immediately remembered why I hate this Brave New World of gaming - the thing is downloading since 2 days now and is just about half way there

It is very much a YMMV thing. The core game is fine as is, bit janky here and there, but works just fine.
Nevelon wrote:I’m playing them with no mods. What mods do you have added, and how do they improve things?

I'll spare you the full list, as even I didn't know what half of them did. But stuff like Just Another Mech Lab and a variety of balance mods that allow you to tweak health of enemies, their numbers, not to mention introduce more mech variants to the game, as well as quality of life fixes like better cockpits, damage models, better mech building options, a better mech market, custom pilots (ideal for coop) and whatnot. Also, more biomes, more variety in missions and terrain. Oh right and more random starting options if you ignore the story mode and just go for a mercenary campaign.
It made the game for us less of a pushover or a quick dash to grab the best stuff available, we actually struggled at times to make ends meet and survive the next encounter, those were some great moments.
Though I do wish they'd make light and medium mechs more viable, as aside from the infamous Locust horde encounter (my brother's Atlas got bullied to death by ten Locusts ), they don't really do much in the game, as opposed to the tabletop where they have good roles throughout.

Not just solaris, but most industrial worlds have fights. And not being in warzones, you can repair without the upcharge on time/money.
Of all the DLC, I think that one added a lot of play to the game.

Thanks for the reminder about MW5, guys!
I was hooked on the old ones, played the pre-release of MWO and then... just lost interest, I guess.
Being as it's on sale on Steam at the moment and that it's had enough time for the kinks to be worked out, I think that it's the right time to grab it and a big DLC bundle.

So far I think it's well worth the sale price. I picked up some DLC that looked interesting but I'm not sure if I've even hit any of that content yet.
I think some of the gripes people had just don't really apply to me at all because I quite enjoy this style of game - it's really like "Mechwarrior Mount and Blade" and Mount and Blade is one of my all time favourite games.
I did my first double mission today (got up to play in the middle of the night when everyone else is asleep). Tough going! It's hard not to lose some of your Lance in these running battles when you can't repair in between. Also when said lancemates keep jumping in front of your M-Lasers.

Finally decided to give Space Marine II a go, since it was -60% on steam right now.
I gotta say, the game looks brill on ultra detail. If you liked the previous game, you'll love the sequel.
Played through the first chapter. Felt pretty Cinematic, NGL. Cant wait to play more as co-op with a mate later!

Playing through Deserts of Kharak. It plays exactly like the other Homeworld games, just on a bumpy 2D plane. Its fun enough and scratches the itch, but its hardly as groundbreaking as the first one (for obvious reasons)
SM2 is fun. They captured the feel of a marine rather nicely I thought.

Beat all the stronghold missions with guard so far except eldar and necrons in wh40k: dawn of war 1 remaster in the soulstorm campaign. I had to actually beat the dark eldar stronghold twice because the game crashed after i won and the 2nd time i won was rather easy.

Finished Ninja Gaiden 4 and man if it isn't some of the most engaging gameplay I've played in ages. I can't fathom someone watching it having a clue what is going on and the degree at which that chaos feels fulling in my control is super satisfying.
Also got through Metroid Prime 4. It's mostly an excellent Metroid game with a good mix of exploration and some neat puzzles. The motorcycle is fun, but the area where its used is kind of bland. It has the Wind Waker problem where there IS stuff to do in the open world but most of it you can't until it acts as a time sink before the final boss. Spacing out finding mech parts and the sniper guy would have been a lot more satisfying.
Bosses are also a little damage spongey and not as satisfying as usual since you tend to put more shots into exposing their weaknesses to have a couple shots to chip at their health before repeating. It just gets a little repettiive though I'll admit mastering the last boss to survive that drawn out fight was exillerating.
Last on the list is Ball x Pit which shares a lot of Vampire Survivors DNA through a fun loop of bullet hell shooter, breakout and town building sim. Really engaging and well worth a playthrough, despite feeling a little disappointed that there's way more stuff to grind for power than unique challenges to make use of that power in the end.

Some of these Hollowknight bosses/mini-bosses are giving me proper trouble. Defeating the Broken Vessel, not that hard in and of itself, but going back to challenge him in the dream world, he routinely kicks my arse in a few hits. I moved on from him though with the intention of coming back later on. But now I've run up against the Watcher Knights and I just CANNOT beat them. Most times I'm lucky if I can beat the first 2 or 3. I haven't gotten past 4 yet, and it appears as if there's many more to come afterwards.
I don't if they're actually hard bosses, or if my skills are slipping in my advanced years.

Trying to get the last achievement in the old GW Chainsaw Warrior game - kill at least one of each enemy and win without dying/reloading.
Easier said than done as the game will just randomly kill you for drawing the wrong card, destroy the vital quest item mid-game, not spawn one of the enemies at all, and if you do make it to the final boss there is an 83% chance that you simply lose anyway without a specific randomly assigned piece of gear.
It plays like a really mean fighting fantasy book.
"As you arrive at the meeting point Test Your Luck. If you are lucky turn to page 29, if you are unlucky your contact got lost - without his vital information your quest is impossible and your adventure ends here".
