Yeah, I was going to get Sim City now that the utterly needless online requirement was removed, but the game is functionally broken. Sims don't live in houses and go to jobs like they said they would. Sims just go to the nearest job and then the nearest house. And the traffic model is insane.

They took the game people liked, and really EA'd it.

Picked up BF4 and its first expansion for $35 on PC over the weekend.

Man, that game is sooooo much better on PC. I don't see how I used to enjoy BF3/4 so much on PS3

I downloaded Takedown: Red Sabre yesterday and I might boot it up later to see what it's like. I'm hoping that it is like the older Rainbow Six games, and nothing like the reviews online

Playing some Armoured Core For Answer again (finishing some more Hard Mode missions, finally beat Silent Avalanche + Wis & Yei on Hard and S-ranked it), a bit of Strider and Dota 2...

Until Dark Souls 2 hits the shelves anyway.

I wanted to like it. I loved the older Tom Clancy games, in fact I owned them all across multiple platforms. The game just felt so clunky and ponderous, and the control scheme was far from intuitive. The demo itself was hugely restrictive, the only playable level was the Kill House level, and there was nothing that gave me any indication of what the actual game play would be like. The little bit of the level I did play left me with a sour taste in my mouth, and and less than thrilled with the prospect of multiplayer. Any game that prevents me from inverting the Y axis on my controller is also an automatic no from me.

Next Car Game. Although there's not much to it at the moment it does boast some mind blowing physics, decent graphics, good race AI and a very sophisticated handling model. The handling is maybe a little too realistic in the current build but as un-fun as understeer is, it is necessary for realism. I have read that maybe the 360 controller support is not quite there yet so that might be worth me adding as that's how i played.

Oh I see well then I will not be buying that then, and yes. The Tom Clancy games have always had a soft spot in my game hearth, I played the Rainbow six games to death over the years. And yes, that sort of things really kills a game for me too

I did like that the weapons and accessories were all available from the start. For Kill House I was using an AUG A3 with holo sight and suppressor to double tap targets. Outside of that though I couldn't see many redeeming features, or anything that progressed the game play. It really felt like a poor man's Rainbow Six

Playing Dungeons and Dragons Online still.

Stuff I like:
-They make skills really relevant and allow for a lot of different playstyles. It really "feels" like playing D'n'D 3.5 in a lot of ways.
-It's free
-The control system is pretty intuitive to me and I find it quite fun.
-There are some amazing dungeons
-I like the instanced nature of the game, it takes away the biggest complaint I have about World of Warcraft. However it makes quitting mid instance difficult. On the flip side, it's easy to pick it up and play it for 30 minutes, do a quest or two, and put it down again.
Things I don't like:
- It crashes every time I try to start it. My friend and I refer to it as the "loadcrashload" jokingly, but really, I reckon they want to get that crap sorted out!
-As you go up in level, you may find the available free content drying up. We're just hitting level 6 and you can already see a drop off in the available content. I am not going to buy any content though because that there is a slippery slope!
-Sometimes the dungeons either don't show much thought, and are repetitive, or show quite a lot of malicious thought, and require long platforming sessions (The Pit, I'm looking at you!).

On the whole though, it's been enjoyable. In some ways I like it more than Skyrim, despite not being as pretty or immersive. I just like how the game "handles" a lot more.

I have been mainlining Space Engineers like it wasn't an alpha.

The game sucks so much of my time, i will start building a ship at 10:30 pm and the next thing I know the birds are chirping. Good times.

Every Dakkanaught gets a 4+ Pinch of Salt save.
When you suffer a Falling Sky hit, roll a D6 - on a 4+ the hit is ignored as per the Pinch of Salt save. On a 1-3 panic insues - you automatically fail common sense tests for the next 2 weeks and get +7 to your negativity stat. -Praxiss

I really like LOTRO, its probably my favourite 'traditional' MMO. My problem with it is that the later content just isn't very good IMO. The game up to its original lvl 50 content (Angmar basically) is really good and interesting. Moria is decent and after that it just goes down hill. I tend to play it periodically and I generally get bored round about lvl 60, the middle of Moria. One of the issues with it, like all established MMOs, is that due to the increased level cap and faster leveling you will inevitably outlevel the original zones too quickly. I've been thinking of giving it another go recently.

With F2P games I don't mind spending money on them but I am very concioius of how much I spend and what I am spending it on. Unlocking content and the like is fine given that I don't mind subscription fees. Pointless cosmetic items are another story.

Only quibbles I have with that game, is the russian planes are slightly overpowered, and the USA doesn't get half the jets they should.

Got a Beta key for ESO, and played about an hour and a half of it last night. It's nice, but it doesn't feel like an MMO at all.

I'm also almost done with Last of Us. Just finished the Winter chapter...and holy feth, that game has been intense.

Wonder if they changed something, it felt too much like an mmo to me. Everything was lacking in smooth, and don't get me started on using the bow... That was a couple of beta sessions ago though, it could have improved.

It's... interesting. I think they managed decently to mix the ES and MMO- though the combat lacks a lot of the weight you expect from current-gen ES games. I think it's the sound assets- you don't get enough "Oomph" from hits, and there aren't any effects at all when you 'strike' (clip through, that is) terrain and other objects. Every sound is too light, like taps, instead of proper slashes or thuds- though the magic sounds good, I think.

I think I know why they did that, though. It's not for optimization, since it's easy enough to put whatever sound file you want in to play at the right time- but it's because they're expecting large crowds, and huge-scale combats- and I guess they're worried that the layering of too many sounds happening at the same time would sound bad.

That makes sense. The music and sound effects matter much less to me for an MMO than they do a single player game. Sometimes I turn up the music for ambiance, but if I'm playing with other players there's usually ventrillo or something similar going on.

I just didn't jive with the gameplay at all the second time I tried it. I may have to update it and give the next iteration a go though.
