Started playing Fallout New Vegas. Thought it would be fun to play a character that was a mix of a self-proclaimed, "man of class," and bloodthirsty samurai. Even already found a mod for a katana.
It'll be weird trying to run past gunfire in a suit, but hey, maybe more points in endurance can fix that.

Melee is totally viable. Of course you intend to do it without armor or (I'm guessing) stealth, which will make it a big more interesting. A lot of fights happen in enclosed spaces and there are entire types of enemies that can only melee so its not all bad.
Stuff like deathclaws will require a lot of levels and perks to not be suicide, but that counts for guns to an extent.
I think there are some really useful defensive and support (and obviously offensive!) Perks to keep an eye out for. One boosts your damage threshold which will help with that lack of armor.
Purchased Firewatch this morning, and have had a good day playing it. Never been one to play this sort of game but I have now realized how much I have missed by doing so.
Finished Space Marine this evening, throroughly enjoyable. They really captured the feel of the 40k universe, from the snippets of audio logs from ordinary troopers/citizens, to the look and feel of the Warboss and Daemons.
Probably a bit too much running through empty corridors/areas and wasnt totally satsified with the end boss fight (button mash really? The Ork Boss was a great fight) but very enjoyable romp overall.

You mean the new guy ultramarine? I'd hardly consider that a worthy fight. Besides the guy was unsure of what was going on. We are talking the 40k universe remember (where everything is overly grimdark *rolls eyes*). If your guy wasn't a space marine and a captain at that but say a guardsmen he'd have his brains pasted on the side of a wall right now.

You see Guardsmen dying to Ork assaults as part of the tour on the first level.
I've been playing Undertale as of late. A bit behind the times on that but oh well. It's a great game but damn it if I wish the keys were rebindable.

The game really makes you realise how utterly bonkers the whole 'T4 3+' thing is.
I'd love for my WS4 S4 T4 3+ Raptor to pull this off...
Guardsmen suck except when there's a crap ton of them, they have vehicles esp. tanks or at the very least have heavy weapons. That's how it's always been. Course 'Space Marine' focused heavily on this point.
Sometimes when you see your space marine captain walking around normal boyz you imagine getting attacked by a swarm of 5 year olds. In numbers they might weigh you down but you can wipe them out by the dozen if you watch yourself.

Worth a pop Trondy? A friend was pointing it out.

What's annoying you about FTL? It's replay value is tied into difficulty what with being mostly a roguelike. Or is it doing something you don't like? I can only play it for so long at a stretch but I've gotten some fair mileage out if it.

oh no not saying its not fun. just frustrating when i build one way then the game sits there and sends boarding parties constantly or if i go an even build i still get pwned.
Did you start out on Easy? I find Normal can be downright impossible some days even when I'm in the zone. I almost always make sure to get a teleporter fast, even if I have engi and zoltans (well maybe not if thats the ONLY crew I have but still), because it will become the single most efficient way to amass scrap. It can also make thce end boss fights a bit easier if you're careful with how you do it.
I do hate those runs where you end up with hundreds of spare scrap but you can never find weapons or stores with weapons. I've gotten to sector 8 with little more than starter guns... usually means game over on the boss. I also tend to find weapon preigniters (guns start charged, can be absolutely insane when combined with powerful burst lasers and cloak) and then no guns to go with them =/
If it would only run on my Tabtop (it does, but it doesn't intelligently interpret the touch like a lot of games, rendering it virtually unplayable without peripherals), I'd probably load it back up myself.
The time to kill on that game is low, yeah. Bolters aren't -that- good at piercing power armor.

Heard about the Long War mod for XCOM EU/EW. I still haven't beaten the vanilla game yet, so it would be really nice to tackle EW AND Long War AND Ironman as revenge, even though it would likely be insanely difficult and might never succeed.
I've been trying to get into the right mindset for playing tougher games, since I usually back down too easily. I'm a bit too used to pushing the difficulty to the easiest setting. This might be the push I need.

Got myself a controller so I can play Dark Souls finally. Got out of the Asylum and am running around the Undead Burg. I can see why people say it's so unforgiving- it's really punishing!
I'm not that good at these sorts of games and the shoulder buttons being used to attack takes some getting used to - I keep panicking in fights and accidentally using items and so on.
Great atmosphere though.
Speaking of atmosphere, also playing Darkest Dungeon. Wow, what a game! Really fun to play and it oozes character. I love the idea of the player as this recruiter of unfortunate adventurers to plumb the depths of his ancestor's manor. Awesome fun.
I think I accidentally screwed over my XCOM game. I'm in a situation where the countries are constantly becoming more panicked, and when one gets better, two more get worse. Now it's a race to see what comes first: the satellites to reduce panic where it's urgently needed, or the decision from the US and Japan that will shut down the XCOM project.
