Borrowing my buddy's PS2 to replay some old games like Onimusha and the Baldur's Gate series

Grrrrrgh. Got the Black Dragon in the Dark Souls DLC down to about 3 hits from dead, and he went berserk attacking and breathing fire pretty much constantly. I can't seem to dodge his insane range head lunges, and the range on his breath is unbelievable.

Gonna beat the bastard though.

Decided to get Baldur's Gate: Enhance Edition. Looks relatively promising so far with the character customization (though I have no idea which D&D edition this is supposed to emulate).

I figured out that there were 6 slots for party members, so I'm plugging in the first D&D party I used.A shame there aren't any Tieflings or Warlocks, but they can fit into the other options relatively easily.

@SkavenLord it's 2nd edition. Or AD&D or maybe there's an H in there... I dunno. Anyway. Older but not the first system. Basically there's still THACO so armor class going down is a good thing, but you're still fishing for positive bonuses to hit etc.

In my own opinion, you should give BG a playthrough with the available NPCs as several of them are hilarious and awesome. I mean a custom party is pretty fun, but if you have time try it both ways. You can't miss out on Boo!

My brother got me Factorio after he found out it has multiplayer. We spent five hours last night tinkering away in freeplay, slowly building up an automated complex.

You sir get a pice of cake this day! Baldurs Gate is an amazing game and well worth playing.

As for party members, you can never go wrong with figther, paladin, cleric. sorceres, figther, thief, ranger. From there you can choose to spezialize and such, I tend to go towards two handed swords or sword and shield for my figthers while giving my palaidin a solid bonus to warhammers and maces.

Plants versus Zombies: Garden Warfare 2.

So much fun.

Oh another thing about generating a BG party... When you start it gives you stats and often they're pretty poor. It's all RNG rolling the stats but whereas in a dnd campaign you may survive suboptimal stats...BG can be kind of relentless at times.

There are several subtle bits about stats in that ruleset (like only warriors can benefit from more than 16 con, unless it's gnomes then 18 is still good) including some widely disparate bonuses for 18 strength (again, warriors get a /## value from 01-00 and 00 is a whole other level of badassery).

Anyway you can use strategy and playing well to plug gaps in the characters personal power, its not like the stock game NPCs are totally maxed out and optimized...but I would caution hobbling yourself with too low of stats. But you may need to Google for an article about the nuances because they are subtle and many

The premade NPCs are generally pretty terrible (aside from Minsc) but they do add quite a lot of texture to the game, mostly. Imoen is quite possibly the most annoying NPC party member in any game, ever. The other drawback of using a premade party is that you will be more powerful than intended, certainly early on, as the game is balanced towards a smaller party. I say 'balanced' but its still far too easy to get 1 shotted by a lucky crit....

Personally I prefer the second game.

Fallout: NV. Finished both HH and OWB. Moving onto DM.

Also, the new Endless Legend expansion is out, so I'll be playing that once my internet stops being stupidly slow. Although I haven't downloaded any if the updates in a while, so it might be a big one.

Still playing more Starpoint Gemini 2. I just can't get enough of those graphics!

I've gone back to DoW II Retribution for the ork campaign. That's been fun.

Also, I've been on the lookout for good Scifi horror games. Alien Isolation was amazing, and I want to find something similar. A friend suggested Dead Space, so I've been looking into that.

Ohhh yeaaah! Killed the Black Dragon, FINALLY, after ages of trying different strategies just went back to my usual Havel Set, Halberd +15 two handed and Grass Crest shield and played better. The main thing to it I reckon is to not be scared to hug his feet - he does that stomp attack sometimes, but it's nowhere near as bad as getting hit by his headbutts.

Then went on to kill the boss for the DLC on my first try! Nice. Can't wake the girl up though.

Dead Space is a good choice, especially if you liked Alien Isolation. Gameplay is more shooty-shooty than Isolation, but it still manages to deliver well on the scares.

Phew. Dark Souls finished. Last boss was a bit of a pain because I am not really good a parrying, so I just tanked through him by chugging estus and whacking him with my shiney new +5 Black Knight Halberd.

Took the obvious ending choice. Happy enough with that. Didn't realise you started NG+ with all your gear, but don't think I'll replay the game now. Happy to have beaten it, but not too interested in an immediate replay. Mostly wanted to do it before Dan from Extra Play did

That's been a good series.


Meanwhile, I've finished DM. Looks like I have LR, and then just have to finish all the other quests I have left. I'm also super OP, not even level 40 and I have 100 in all non-combat skills other than survival. Getting int 9 at start and immediately bombing it for the Int cyber-thing has really paid off.

Aye, I don't get the fuss about NG+ either...got to NG+++, but then lost interest. Last boss was kind of a disappointment after killing Kalameet, though

I agree! I'd seen people talking him and the expansion boss up, but neither were as difficult as that donkey-cave dragon!

Was awesome to beat him. He and O&S were the most challenging bosses in this game, with the Stray Demon a third place contender.

Oh, no, this is my second full play-though (just under 300 hours clocked).

I actually really like dead money for the atmosphere and characters, but I will agree that the radios are complete BS. If they gave you some sort of indication of exactly where they were, it would be perfect, but otherwise it's just god-damn annoying, especially when you have to worry about cloud, ghost-people, holograms ect.

Still chipping away at Factorio with my brother, our logistics engine, while clunky, is becoming bigger and bigger with every hour, now incorporating 200+ drones to ferry everything to and fro. We're slowly getting to the stage where we need to start hunting down the aliens for their resources now, but before we can do that, we'll first need to shore up our own defences considerably!

I get to play with trains though!

Got back into Darkest Dungeon now. I really love it, but the class balance always seems pretty ganky. I mean, I can't get my Jester above level 0 because he seems to act like an albatross for any mission he goes on because he's such dead weight - every mission he goes on fails and he ends up raving and frothing in the hamlet until I can be bothered to slam him in the tavern to drink himself sane.

It's a cool little story and very atmospheric (he's become like a bad luck talisman now and it makes him an insane pariah), but the class is seriously borked in terms of utility, at least with my usual set ups.

I bounced right of it. Its a game that loves its RNG far too much.

It can be a really cruel game sometimes, and there are runs where you just hit awful match up after awful match up and they just hammer on your weakest party member.

But once I became comfortable with the weak dying off and my role as the borderline evil orchestrator of the deaths of good and decent adventurers, it was a better game for me.

Not for everyone though, as a lot of it seems to be randomly generated which means it can lack any sense of polish.

I like procedural games. I tend to be pretty casual so that kind of runs contrary to permadeath RNG heavy games...but I like stuff like FTL too. Looks like it's worth a play through. Also the total biscuit let's play.

Got back into Fallout 4, and got the season pass... after such a long break (relatively speaking) I started a new character so that I didn't have to figure out what the heck was going on, and that way I can better jump into Automatron or whatever this first expansion was called.

Last night played some starcraft 2 and some xcom 2 in multiplayer with a friend.
