Trying to complete FTL on Hard with the type C stealth cruiser, it's not going well, as whilst there is clearly a knack to playing FTL well the initially no-Stealth or Shields ship is starting to feel a bit of a RNG flukefest

RTS with wondering bands of zombies that will attack individually, then in bigger, faster groups, then in massive waves. All the while you are building up your base, collecting resources and researching new stuff. I’m currently getting my ass kicked about 20 days(of 100) into the survival mode. Making progress though.

I have been playing some torchlight 2. i never got around to finishing it the first time i played, and it's been bugging me.
Now to see if i can manage a deathless run like i did in the first torchlight! it may not be the biggest accomplishment but I'm not actually that good at these styles of games, so it's good for me.
I downloaded the xbox version of Player Unknown's Batthegrounds.. what a disappointment. Boring as hell, and the graphics are like gen 1 xbox quality. You just wander around looking for weapons till you can find a camper to blow your head off like a half hour later. Really don't see what the hype was all about with this game.
I actually asked Microsoft for a refund and they said no.. wish I got it for steam, at least they aren't dbags about it when you hate something you bought from them.
Oh yes, the refund policy of Steam is most excellent. I don't use it often, but when I have to, like recently I tried They Are Billions and found it didn't work out for me, I just filled out the form, told them it didn't click with me and done, refund is on its way.

I think this explains why many people really enjoy the game:

The Laws of Thermodynamics:
1) You cannot win. 2) You cannot break even. 3) You cannot stop playing the game.

Yeah I get the whole hunting and killing part.. Just not really for me, but I what ticked me off the most was the really, really crappy Xbox port and Microsoft refusing to give me a refund. I think I would have liked it better on steam. This video is making fun of it, but it's actually pretty accurate for what it was like for me..

Yes, when journalists where brought in for a presentation on the upcoming console port, they were allowed to play the PC version, which did not exactly instil a lot of confidence in the upcoming port.
And waaaaaaaaait, is this game going to have cross-compatible servers?

Lots of streamers played it with each other and had a good time in a separate voice chat program joking around. Somehow when that happens, viewers think the enjoyment comes from the game, rather than people who know each other hanging out.
I finally managed to get in Shogun 2's Fall of the Samurai after a few failed attempts.
What looked like an easy waltz to victory as the Obama clan of the central region has suddenly turned into a crisis with Samurai rebellions and naval bombardments destabilising my heartlands and sending my economy into free fall whilst my powerful armies are isolated and besieged in the shattered cities that I have torn apart to fund my ongoing war with the powerful Northern alliance.
Whats worse is that my long time ally has chosen this time to betray me and the Imperialist clans of the southern region are starting to get restless now my bribes and trade deals have dried up!
As you can probably tell it is the most fun I have had with a Total War campaign for some time
Having a lot of fun with Assassin's Creed Origins. It's a great refresh of the series, the world is superbly massive and detailed and the combat is lovely and punchy.
Most importantly though, it has a photo mode...

Was invited to play the Sea of Thieves technical alpha last weekend through tomorrow, has been an absolute delight! It has been a long time since I have truly loved playing a game. Even my old go to games like the Fallout series and Battlefield have gotten stale and it took a concerted effort to actually sit down to play them.
Sea of Thieves has changed that. Not only is it graphically gorgeous, for an alpha its well optimized and has several features that most consoles do not offer (FOV settings being one). The graphics are stunning, most notably (and importantly IMO) the water effects are beautiful!
It is really fun to group up with my buddy who also got an invite and sail about the map, find treasure, fight other pirates etc. The combat is very tense for a game that doesn't take itself too seriously. Having all the hallmarks of sailing strategy and running back and forth to alter sails for better wind while chasing down another ship, or even the exact opposite. It takes a lot of teamwork and is loads of fun.
If you haven't, I would recommend going to their website and signing up for the insider program to see if you can get in on the closed beta.

Out of curiousity, what didn’t you like about They Are Billions?
I’m having a blast, just playing it casually. I’m getting better at it, but still have not won a single survival map.

I've gotten into Battlefield 1 on PC again since I have the season pass or whatever it is and get all the expansions. I've really been enjoying it and the newer maps and weapons are pretty awesome and I guess there's more on the way in January.
My buddy is trying to get to play PUBG on Xbox but I'm not interested. I played for a while on PC and just got bored with it, even though it could be fun occasionally.

Ya, I'm in the same boat with PUBG.
I feel like the game would be better served with a class system or faster, more meaningful progression. Or finding customization credits among the ruins, instead of getting a paltry amount after every match. That's what really killed the game for my group. Run around for 20 minutes, get the squad geared up, then get ganked from who knows where when the circle shrinks and you have to run across a field. The juice wasn't worth the squeeze.
I will say though, jumping in alone on a team game is pretty good fun. Its so much more intense when you are outnumbered and are getting hunted!

I would really avoid pubg on xbox if I were you. I dunno maybe it will get better over time, but the graphics and lag and gameplay was so bad. I'm still salty they won't give me a refund for such a gak product. I wonder if I should call my credit card company and see if I can do a charge back?
Maybe it's better on XboneX, and that's what they want the target audience to be or whatever ... but I wouldn't get it if you have a regular xbox one like me.
I've been interested in PUBG for a while and was looking forward to the Xbox release, but there's no way I'm buying it until it's out of the Game Preview early access scheme. I can see how there'd be significant technical challenges porting to a console, but even then the initial reviews for the Xbox version are incredibly off-putting.

I got into Battlefield 1 during the Black Friday sale on Xbox. They had the "Revolution" edition(game+season pass) for $30...so I pulled the trigger. It's a great campaign and I am loving Operations.
I guess they've been making it so that the DLC is broken into two parts. Part I of Turning Tides released and now we get Part II in January.

Started up a new profile on the PS4 about a month or so ago and picked up COD ww2, kind of burnt my self out on multi plus the maps are getting boring now. So now moved on the Horizon and downloaded War Thunder again last night.
Haven’t played War Thunder in a long while probably about the time ground forces were released. Obviously I played a few matches today and am pretty crap now lol. Oh and played a bit of Sudden Strike 4. Not ground breaking and a little clunky but when it’s works it’s good fun.
Feels great when you capture a few enemy tanks/vehicles and use them on their former owners.
Been playing through the old Return of the King game on PS2, don't know how I managed to get through it when I was ten some of the levels are extreme;y difficult. Been bringing back some great memories though
Just spent about 5 hours re-downloading all the mods for my last not finished F:NV playthrough. Man, achieving balance is not easy with this game, but, once you manage, it is SO good. I bloody love it and the mods I am playing with (if you haven't, try out Someguy2000's stuff. Great stories, decent to really good voice acting and brutally difficult at times. Amazing!!).
Also, I finally downloaded Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Really looking forward to that over the holidays.
And TF2 is always fun, even though I really have to practice RJing more^^

Absolute cracker of a game, that, and I imagine that while the graphics are dated, the combat still holds up as I remember it being an incredibly fun hack'n'slasher. I may be remembering it through rose-tinted glasses as it was my first ever game on my first ever console and I played the hell out of it, but yeah, it's certainly one of the better movie adaptation games. If you enjoy it, the Two Towers one is just as good.
But yeah, it was certainly tricky. I still never beat the final Mount Doom/Gollum mission!
