If you're having model count issues, how about dropping the LC Lord for another half a dozen Marines somewhere (not familliar with the Chaos codex, don't know if the points you save would let you fill out a couple of the Plague Marine squads or not). Or maybe grab some more Rhinos?

The lord is tax to make my Plague Marines troop choices. He's always a waste of space and never does anything but I cant go without him.

Ah, fair enough. How about dropping the 2-Oblit squad for more Plagues?

The list looks fine as-is to be honest, I'm just trying to work out how you can get some more minis in there since you mentioned it.

I think its going to have to be fine as is I really need the heavy weapons from the oblits, last time I went without the heldrake and had another squad of plasma Plagues but it felt like something was missing.

I don't intend on winning any games so its not really important, as long as my minis look good that's all that counts

All your lovely Badab marines are making me want to paint marines at the moment. As I already have Mantis Warriors I wonder what chapter I could do for an opposing force?

If you hate yourself, Star Phantoms... Red Scorpions were there and are nice and simple to paint, and look great (and with BaC, there's plenty of MkIV armour parts around now with needing Forge World stuff).

I like the idea of Star Phantoms but want to save them for a later project if I've remembered them correctly as the Marines out side in the alien planet systems, I actually have an armys worth of Exorcists pads so I could use them I was going to do them as Grey Knights but could go generic marines hmmm.

You might be thinking of a different Chapter, the Star Phantoms are the Chapter given regency over Badab for the massive casualties they took kicking the Astral Claws out. Lots of Devastators, Plasma and Melta, white armour with black markings, they're cool but probably hellish to paint en masse.

Exorcists are awesome, though, and visually they'd look great opposite the Mantis Warriors.

If you aren't impressed with the Chaos Lords performance and he is just to unlock plague marines maybe dial back his gear to bare bones and use those points elsewhere?

Yeah I've already done that he actually has a powerfist and lightning claw and usually the invulnerable save, I had some spare points left so put some back into him.

Yeah will be doing them Solar, just need to plan where I want to go for each force so they are different. I might go for the demi company for the MW's and the flyer formation for the Exorcists.

That Darklands dragon is awesome, nice work! How stable is it? I am having bad thoughts of bumping the table and having it plop over and break anything below. Or catching a sleeve on it... I break things periodically

Yeah they do look good, I already have the paints for them.

Not sure how I'm going to build them army wise apart from the flying formation, I want them to play differently to the MW's.

Azazelx wrote:That Mierce stuff looks great. I like the dragon but I really love the 2-headed rottie!

Thanks Azazelx, theres currently more Axe Drunes on the painting table then we move onto the Manticore

Wehrkind wrote:That Darklands dragon is awesome, nice work! How stable is it? I am having bad thoughts of bumping the table and having it plop over and break anything below. Or catching a sleeve on it... I break things periodically

Thanks Wehrkind. How stable you ask well once attached to its base its fine it has a good centre of gravity. In regards to breaking it, oh my I've had lots of accidents while just painting him. I've broken his wing, his neck, and a number of toes when I dropped him while painting (only from a hands hight onto a table). I've also broken those same toes when I caught him on my t-shirt as well. After the breakage issues when he was being posted I'm quite amazed he still looks normal I don't know if it was me or if the resin is a bit brittle for my cast but I wouldn't take him out of the house thats for sure, my manticore on the other hand is as solid as a rock.

Might not be a painting update this weekend as I've been blessed by papa Nurgle, is kinda funny seeing as I'm taking my Nurgle CSM army to a tournament next weekend, I'm assuming its a warm up exercise

I've got some more Darklands minis for you today that I finished over the weekend.

First up is the rest of the unit of Axe Drunes.

The finished unit.

Then we have my Ysian leader Carrowek of Carn Dhu

These were all very fun to paint, it was quite interesting painting so much brown to look like different textures if you know what I mean.

Next up is the wee dog for this months unofficial dakka painting comp, then we go back to Darklands to paint the Ysians Manticore Ungefelic.

Wonderful figures and the unit looks beautiful together. I think you did a fantastic job working all the darks in together in a natural yet dynamic way.

That banner is spectacular. But worried where that ugly fellow got the hides for it. But looks amazing.

They are lovely models Wehrkind, mine are resin so you could pick them up now from their shop

Archer wrote:That banner is spectacular. But worried where that ugly fellow got the hides for it. But looks amazing.

Cheers Archer, from the Ysians background I expect he took the hides off enemy warriors probably while they were still alive

-----------------------------------------

Another update today as I had the day off work so I sat down and bashed out my mini for the painting comp. My entry is Luna from Malifaux, a lovely little model.

She was actually a test model for bigger and better things but don't tell her, wouldn't want to hurt her feelings

Her skin tone was practice for Ungefelic the manticore from Darklands who I went straight into after finishing Luna.

I've got the skin tone just how I want it, I've finished the skin on one side and the head so far. Here's a WIP shot it's not 100% accurate as their was actually some sun coming through the window when I took the pic

Painting shall resume on the weekend.
