Thanks guys, I'll amend the line and finish him off to show you I can tell you 60 minutes is NOT long when you paint I took 34 minutes just to lay down all the base colours even with a limited palette! which didn't give me long for highlighting and details, I reckon another hour should see him done, I'd love to see anyone else have a go at an hour job? it's a suprisingly fun and testing thing to do!

I probably won't get a huge amount done today as i woke at 4:30am with a migraine I'm dosed to the eyeballs and about to go back to bed for a while, lucky I set up all my airbrush and silicone and paints in the shed ready to go for when i get a chance.

Yea no way. I would run out of time way to quickly. I like to have my paints dry when adding layers and such. MAybe on a SpaceMarine though, I could try blending all the colors while its still wet

otherwise known as wet blending KC! and that's the perfect reason to have a crack at it! look at how good your Grotnob looks when you pushed for the comp! come on be a man and have a crack!

Woke up this afternoon and started some buildings etc. my head feels much better now and I'm looking forward to the morning so I can start my Bio chambers.

I wanted to mix the colours on my buildings up a bit but still keep them cohesive on the table so i wanted to make the manufactorum red to represent the usual colour you see when referencing them


and the door, this is the before and after with some weathering I used the usual liquid mask technique I like so far.


And now my big 'ol administratum building I wasn't sure how to represent this one, it needed to be upper class but practical so I picked a dark blue accented with Vallejo air rust on the doors and windows, and i really like the beginnings of this one, i think it'll look great with some more work!



While i had the airbrush out i started my craters too, nothing too exciting yet and they're a tad shiny but after some more paint i reckon they'll pull through



and lastly the beginning of my mate Mitchy's Iron Warriors warband! this is the force i painted the Helbrute for and now i'm teaching him a quick way to do these guys I will keep them easy to reproduce and hopefully still an attractive force, to begin he assembled them all as a learning curve and bought them out for me to work on, i undercoated them all with Plate Metal primer from the army painter then once dry I used the airbrush to pretty liberally soak them in soft body wash so it ran from the high edges and darkened the panels nicely, then I airbrushed some brown along the tracks and lower parts of the tanks and it looks pretty good so far

Did some Bio chambers today I like how they turned out, not as I expected but i'm still happy with them, the silicone dried very fast and kind of clumped in large jelly like crystals so I had to kind of pick bits up and push them into the cylinders it may have had something to do with mixing green ink into it but I'm not sure? I like the results though, the greenish tint looks good and as the silicone was kind of rough it looks like the chambers have unsettled liquids inside one has a submerged lady in it (DE maybe?) and another has a large brain in it (Tyranid maybe?)

I plan on detailing the chamber tops and bottoms a bit more once I glue the tops on properly and then planning my dissection chamber

Looking good NF09! The bio chambers look good and the buildings looking great too keep up the great work.

They almost look like they are packed in ice, and it has that nice formaldehyde colour.

Great painting overall. I very much enjoy the necron conversions, very evil dead.

I was quite pleased at the colour when I mixed it up but not so happy with it being so damn hard to work with! if you've ever used P#$* Off to keep cats off your garden it's like the jelly version in the tub, and so sticky, I had visions of it being quite liquid but it was like trying to get semi set jelly into a hole the size of a paint pot opening! I wonder if it will settle into itself later on?

I have two questions for you today one is quite exciting for me and will need a bit of help to do so i'm trying to get as much positive force as possible and the other is just a little shorty, I'll start with the latter

with my Bio chambers should i perhaps add a few drops of red or blue or purple onto the tops of a couple of them (the tops aren't glued yet) just to make a little difference? it will kind of run around the jelly substance and might look suitably grim dark-ish or it might look crap? thoughts?

second question, now this has been running through the 'ol noggin' for a few days now and the more I think about it the more i get pumped about it! in my backyard of Nerdington Manor I have a metal shed about the size of a small bedroom and up the side of the house i have an area unused about 1.5 mtrs roughly wide that runs the length of my fence, can you see where this is going?

I had a little chat to the rather beautiful and understanding Nerd Wench and she was all for me turning my shed into A DEDICATED NERD ROOM! omg! so excited! so I now need to research a few things, how best to insulate without losing too much room and then to line with plaster and add carpet etc as well as solar lighting so i have some power etc, do i use a solar panel charging a car battery? how's the best way? without running direct lines of course. I can't wait to get it going! I am going to paint a mural 40K themed on the walls using my airbrush (I may need another one for larger areas though?) and then frame a bunch of large space marine prints to add to the walls and set up my realm of Battle board on a custom table and various shelves for storage etc. then lastly when i get my roof re sprayed on my home I plan to get them to spray the shed to match in a nice gunmetal grey colour!

so, has anyone else done something similar? i'll be working on it with my mates to keep cost down

Keep in mind... red and green make brown. Don't want to make your bio chambers look like porta-potties.

To start with; I can't help you with the shed conversion, but good luck with that.

As for your Bio-chambers; they look good, kinda like they're churning. Another colour could work to add to that effect If they are packed in quite tight, or it could end up highlighting the blocks of silicone and the gaps between them if they are not.
One thing I would ask, was the silicone you used made up with a powder and water? If so, could you make up some more but with a greater quantity of water, then it might not set as quickly and (and this is my point) if you make it runny enough, you could pour it into your tubes, it would fill the gaps you have there and would set to give you a clear tube. You could use the same colour or use a different colour and it would then look all swirly.
But, none of this may work and I would suggest testing it out on just the one tube. If it didn't work out, do you think you could get the silicone out of the tube once it had set?

Testing it is a great idea... but I wouldn't use one of your tubes. Come up with something disposable that you can use as your subject. Also keep in mind that if the liquid is churning... you're unlikely to have more than one color as they'd blend almost instantaneously

That would depend on how quickly the liquid is churning, how viscous the liquids are, and how miscible they are...

I'd have to agree, it worked out pretty nicely. Was surprised when I noticed that you brought some rather than making them yourself.

Sometimes it's just easier to buy some cool stuff instead of banging my head against a wall trying to make something I really wanted :-) I like 'em, well worth it I think!

I may have news on the shed transformation tomorrow too? I have my best mates younger bro coming over and he's a trainee builder so what better place to hone his skills than turning my shed into a bunker! i'll let you know how it progresses!

went fossicking through the never ending bitz box yesterday again! and discovered a spare 10man tac squad, 5 mixed loadout terminators or could be assembled as CC as well as 5 robed DA vets and a 5man jp sqaud! what on earth should i do? I really don't need 'em for my Flesh Eaters army but I'm not 100% sure i want the pressure of starting another force? but if any of it pricks your ears up i'd probably be happy to swap for some different forces models etc.

Cant really help with the bunker but it sounds like a great idea, make sure you make it nice and secure though wouldnt want any of your stuff to go wondering off.

For the Legion of the Damned I'd say stay with the Marine codex and use Vulkan to get the most out of your melta and flamer weapons.

All this talk of painting put me in the mood again today. So I started work on my Ork boy that gets gak done. In a kill team match he killed a terminator Sgt AND his buddy afterwards. Then in a game a few weeks ago, was the last Ork standing and killed off a SM Sgt and some random Tactical before going down
