yeah man, don't get frustrated! Were there any truly epic, wtf moments? In my last game my archon was beaten in close combat by a Tau Shas'el! I was not happy, though it was very funny lol

Yeah thanks for the support guys! it was fun which was my main aim for the day and there was definitely a few wtf! moments that probably didn't make it any easier for me! for example in one turn of rolling for reserves I managed to have an entire squad of Hammernators and a drop pod full of marines suffer a magical dice roll of a ONE and they both were destroyed without seeing the board! I did learn lots though and have a plan for next time! :-)

Hey Flinty, thanks for the advice, it's really good to see a different take on what works and how people use their force! I haven't armed all my squads yet and i'm running a Vet army so flamers do sound good especially as i have some :-) I should be able to make 2 plasma squads a flamer squad and a melta squad! then we'll see how they go!

Oh I am also working on making my own version of Marbo for my force, I used a set of running Kromlech legs and cut them to reposition them into a more suitable pose, I'm trying to go for a stealthy stalking pose with them with the rear foot behind the first, i'm hoping when i get a body it will look as I hope!



and I did a little work on highlighting my fatigues, I'm still torn between camo or not? and I'm also now leaning more heavily into making the theme jungle fighters instead of desert? so i can use browns and dark greens as accents!


I also as of now have removed the reflex sight from the lasgun, it makes it look better imo, and the long clip actually fits nicer without the sight, I couldn't be bothered cutting every single clip down although I admit it would be better! :-)

I'm not sure if a jungle camo would fit them very well however. The models look rather urban/desert to me.
I doubt a jungle fighter would wear such heavy gear.

Maybe some kind of "allround camo", like a woodland/city camoflage?

Hey IPS, woodland sounds promising :-) I was thinking of using quite angular colour patches on the fatigues perhaps in a heritage green and one other colour? and I'll use the airbrush for the tanks and vehicles camo.

I get what you mean about jungle fighters not wearing such heavy gear, and my idea was for them to be desert themed but now I'm liking the modeling oportunity that mud and foliage can give me! :-)

A chaparral, like they have in parts of Italy, would be a good setting for them, if you wanted to do tan with green and brown highlights, I think. Google it, it is basically like a temperate desert (if that makes any sense). It would probably be the best of both worlds for your purposes: kind of muddy, with foliage, like a jungle, but sandy camo probably wouldn't look too out of place, I think.

Just googled and it looks a lot like my home state of Tasmania in parts! could definitely work well!

I did my bare heads for the Storm Troopers they were going to be used for the MadRobot site but I'm not doing that now as I just can't get my blending smooth enough and consistent enough for a web site, which is a shame, so we decided to leave it for now, but I still love the products and can't wait to see what Steve's next releases are

anyway, here's the boys looking hard as nails and just waiting for bodies! I also tried something different when i took pics by using a white background which I think works much better? I'll have to re-take some of my FleshEaters when I get a chance and see how they turn out!

cheers dudes! if he were constipated from rations I'd paint googly eyes on him to match the upset mouth he has...poor guy! perhaps he's sad the Vendetta's killed all the squishy things he was going to shoot at with his hotshot flashlight?

I'll try and assemble some bodies tomorrow for them to dummy the heads onto to see what it looks like and speaking of assembling things, how do you recommend I represent Marbo's weapons? just a knife and lasgun? and just make them a bit different to show his individual nature?

also I get to move the Nerd Lair into it's very own Nerd Lair room tomorrow that is dedicated to only Nerd stuff! so i may have some pics of the new room of happiness!

Phew! glad they ate it like they should've then! that'll teach me to try and actually land near the action! my only other point was the complete other side of the board where there was absolutely nothing they could do!

You put them off the board? Wow I thought you just knocked into some terrain. Try to use your drop pods a bit more offensively, put them near objectives or enemy squads you want to destroy.

With the reflex sight, how about trimming the top of the lasgun down flat and just have the reflex. It would be like modern rifles with rail systems on top rather than using iron sights. Also the red berets look suitably bad ass!

I like Flinty's idea too. Also I think you should cut the clips down as you were considering, it'll be a pain but I think it'll make them look tonnes better. That or use the same ones you had on the sergeants pistol.

hey, I got a tank question for you all, i'm looking at a tank or 2 for my guard and I'm pretty hooked on the Punisher! there's something about heavy 20 that gets me a little *ahem* 'happy' i've done some reading on various threads about tanks and guard but it seems most are filled with uber competitive people that spout numbers and possibilities like spittle from their frothing mouths! i'm more about the fun and the modeling~ I have gleaned however that if you take a tank you should take at least 2 of the same variant? so, do you believe I can have some deadly fun with 2 punishers? and if not, what say you bottom?

Frankly, at the end of the day - if you're not going super competitive about it - who cares.
Pick what looks cool and makes you happy.
And 2 lots of Heavy 20 sounds pretty awesome to me.
