I did a little faces tute again lets have a look shall we?

O.K, I started with Cull'n bare head as it has good detail and I haven't painted it before, to start I primed black, just a light mist for the paint to stick to then based it in Tallarn flesh paint

next watered wash of Agrax shade

next I used Tallarn flesh again to highlight the brow, cheeks, chin

Tallarn flesh, bleached bone 70/30 mix watered and with a light touch over the highlights.

Now 50/50 Tallarn flesh & bleached bone

then a very light stroke of bleached bone on the highest parts

that's the skin done, the important part is the details that tie it together, I added a little red to the bottom lip and scar on his face as well as bone for his teeth.

A little dark grey in the flesh colour and applied thinly to the head looks like shaved hair, watered slightly and dragged down the cheeks gives a stubble look without being to strong.

and really that's it! if you're careful and apply REALLY light strokes it's not hard, I can't get 'Eavy metal standard but I am happy with them as a good table top face that I reckon anyone who want to can do here he is mocked up on my test marine after i ripped his head off!




I no doubt will do another tute with greater detail in the future but if anyone has any questions or wants a more detailed description of any part then just ask

O.k i'm just starting to flesh out my idea for a heldrake, i've only bought a couple of bits to gaze at for inspiration but you guys will know what i'm talking about my idea is to keep him Organic and Slaanesh-y not necessarily a copy of the actual model but using parts from it if needed. I want him to be still creepy and kind of sexual if you think about it too much so my basis was the Tervigon belly, it gave me a strong Scrotum vibe to start with and i thought i can add Plague fly wings along the top if i add an armour plate from the Heldrake? as for the mouth/head I want a *ahem* rolled back skin appearance filled with teeth and the main armament! i'm also thinking a bunch of questing tentacles somewhere?

i'd love to get some ideas from you all and see if you can't help me get a better feel for which parts etc. to use

I have to say, it's looking a bit Nurgley at the moment, I kind of think Slaaneshi stuff is sleeker, but early days yet.... unless you're planning on sculpting nipples on all those bumps and having it breast-tastic...?

I'm assuming that the head from a Seeker would be too small?

Nerd' just a thought that may help you adventures into "is it or isn't it" depravity; Have you looked at any H.R. Giger work? He's done a lot of stuff that you can be looking at for quite a while until you realise what you're actually looking at. Should be right up your alley...

Ah Geiger! a brilliant mind with some beautiful works to his name! :-) I am indeed familiar with his works and marvel at where the ideas spring forth from? I think he and i should catch up for a coffee one day lol!

I shall browse his works again for some ideas though! and speaking of ideas, my Hel-Sak ideas, Finn mentioned it appeared Nurgly which I can totally see! but how about if i tweak it to look more aquatic? with the shape of the belly (which shall be duly nippled) i'm thinking about making it look like one of those deep sea lantern fish? albeat with some armour plates and a bale flamer (I think that's what it has isn't it?) that way i can add a lot of teeth and a gaping maw as well as some tentacles, where should the tentacles go? trailing behind? coming forth from his mouth? from the sides like clusters of wriggly wings?

Well nerdy.. epic work on this plog and the demons are awesome. I love this idea and everything.

Big lot of photo's today! works in progress and some assembled Terminators for my Slaanesh force, I really need a band name for them don't I they can't just be 'the Slaanesh guys' for ever!

Oh my, I am really pumped about this Hel-Sak i'm building, I'm happy my general idea fits together so far but i need some input from you guys again, so here it is so far just glued together for shape and size purposes.




and now for the input part wings? which to use I have 3 options, Heldrake wings, one set of Plague wings, or two sets of plague wings? first is the Heldrake wings tacked into place:



second option is just one set of plague wings?:



and third is two sets to balance him?:



So that's where I am with him/it at the moment and I like it, the size is good the shape is organic and different and i feel it fits the aesthetic of my Slaanesh force? the only weapon I need to incorporate is the flamer? if that's right? it fits perfectly in the maw!

next up in today's works of lots of building! my Terminators! finally got my box of bits and assembled them, I must say these guys really float my boat! they look tough and chaos-y, so here's the boys that will put some hurt down!

this guy I didn't think I'd like as much but when I look at him now I get the feeling he's just dead 'ard and staring down anyone he wants to on the battlefield! (excuse the floating Samoyed hair that landed as i took the pic )





and a shot of the PW shoulder pads, they'll be gold so it will disguise any imperfections


And now for one last but very exciting thing! I got home early this morning and just before I headed off to bed I received a knock on the door and a rather large and impressive looking package what was it? eagerly running my eye over it I was suitably excited to see it was in fact from our very own Gitsplitta! it was the prize from his Mantis Maker challenge! and when he said his wife was going to make a tin of Cookies! MAN! did she make a TIN OF DELICIOUS COOKIES! OMG! these things are simply amazingly tasty i've already eaten nearly half I think I may need to marry your wife Gits if you ever tire of her? also unwrapped my trophy and I'm really happy I asked for Gits to paint him up, he just looks epic and now has pride of place on my shelf of things Nerdy, I am so proud of coming 1st and will look at it and use it to spur me on to push my painting in the future! the other things in the epic box of epicness was a beautiful printed letter overlaid on an image of the trophy from Gits which I thought was simply the nicest touch ever and at the moment it's on my fridge waiting for a frame, something so nicely written needs to be properly cared for! and lastly was an Ork Deff Dredd, not specifically for me per-Se but I will be painting him up for Gits soon and I'm looking forward to it

Here's some pics for you all of my haul which knowing the postage costs to send around the globe would have cost Gits about 6 months wage!

I'm going to vote for Option 3. Any chance of having one set of wings up so it has more movement in it?
At the moment, it reminds me A LOT of a royal yanma from Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind - a very definite good thing! The holes in the face at the moment - are they for eyes, or something else?

I want cookies now. :( This is not part of my Lose The Lard plan!

... I love Nausicaa (the manga is infinitely better than the anime), but it does occur to me having a look at the pic I inserted that it has four testicles on its face. I'm kinda grossed out, but also thinking that this would be perfect for your Hel-Sak!

I'm going to go with option three as well looks really good, are you going to run some wires down the underneath of the tail would look cool and give it a slight daemon engine look like the decimator. Oh and yes you want the flamer option in the maul

Oh man I must say that is one huge tin of cookies, I know Gits said he was sending cookies but OMG that is a huge tin.....

Termies are cool, I think some Zebra and Tiger stripes on the loin cloths would be good It also appears that the Samoyed look might be in this season.

I like the four wings as well, but the sack underneath makes me think its gobbled up some people, so you must paint it purple and do the "one eye, one horn, flying purple people eater" thing.

Four wings it is then guys ;-) there will be some movement and some tentacles along the length of the tail section, the top part is actually the bottom part of the heldrake model so i don't really know what the holes are for lol but glossy black soulless eyes seem to be in order?
