Cheers guys, the entire Band do look freakin' sweet all together but my photography (lack of) skills is troubling me for a shot with any depth and I don't know how to use my damn dslr properly :-( you'll have to take my word for it! :-)

To go with my Mechanicus models do I start collecting Iron Hands? or do I get Salamanders and paint them like Vulkan?

If you do Iron Hands you need to do NMM on them.

Yeah I do really like the purple blades, ties the force in nicely with each other (helps its pulled off so very well to boot)

Time for the third annual Nerdfest painting competition... and thank God there's no "glamour pic" of Nerdy as a prize this time.

I'm a bit late (and should really post more here as it is), but holy smegging bolter of Gulliman, that Inquisition group on the last page is just totally beautiful! Best DCA I've ever seen!

Umm it's actually the 4th annual Nerdcademy award guys! and I can safely say that Gits' pipe dream is simply that, a dream as it's now cemented in as 3rd prize forever more to have a stylish black&white 'Nerd's Nudes'

I've got the 1st prize, obviously before it's finished and 3rd will come soon so once I find something for 2nd place and work out a theme and judges we'll be good to go! not much at all.....

so what are some interesting ideas this year? I was thinking theming it with a title like

* 'hold the line, never falter'
* 'No,no, no, nooooo'
* 'gak! that was close!'
* 'Look to me brothers for we will prevail'
* 'Thank you brother'

and just seeing how everyone interprets them on a 40mm base how's that sit with everyone? also anyone who wishes to put forward themselves as a judge please make yourself known.


I did some painting today on my Terminators and managed to finish the red armour on all of them but by the time I got to photographing them it was too poor light and the shots I took were utter bollocks not worth trying to adjust to show you so i'll do it again in the morning with some better light for reds, it's such a bitch to take pics off nicely!

I like your topic options, should be fodder for some interesting pieces.

I'm thinking about doing the "hold the line" with marines all standing in line at the DMV (Departmento Mechanicus Vehiculous) waiting to renew their Rhino driving liscences.

I'm down to judge again. No reason to break the streak now. I also enjoy the bribes.

Excellent, good to have some interest already won't get it's own thread for a little while until I get it properly organised and then I'll detail the competition rules and themes for everyone but for now it's enough to whet your creative appetites!


Now, yesterday I hinted I'd done some painting and finished the red armour on my Termies so I took some more not excellent pics but good enough to show you

Cool stuff! I'm not normally a fan of BA that bright and shiny, but you more than make it work!

Looking forward to the challenge, this year I feel I might just about be decent enough that I could enter without feeling totally out of my depth!

Cheers Paradigm, you have to have a crack at the comp mate! I've still got to find/buy something for 2nd place then we'll get it started but I think the themed titles will give people a different idea or two, they don't have to be diorama's but I'm encouraging everyone to think outside the box

Finally got a little box in the post and am so pleased I had to start assembling some of the models for my 30k Mechanicus army they are SEXY models especially the Thanatar! I know the shin guard is wonky as I must have knocked it but I'll fix it later. the Magos Dominus and Tech priest are really nice, the Dominus is a little confusing but I'll check out some painted ones and see how it should look?

I'm starting to get some feeling about the force now I've got them in my hands, not 100% on theme yet but the mind is turning about the idea of them lumbering across the battlefield unleashing such titanic devastation into the ranks of the Traitor Horus' lackeys.....
