Awww thanks Solar that means a lot, I will always keep chugging along with my projects and those of others I just would hate to disappoint anyone that's all.

I have nearly finished the Mino board as well, i've added some propaganda posters and attached the back board, i'll dust some powders over it and call it done after I do the banners

I popped the finished models on just to get a feel of how it will look, I'll definitely need at least another Tac squad and perhaps the other 5 Termies? or perhaps Assault marines? it all comes down to timing before I go away!






and while there's no pics, I have finished the chipping on the dark sky star avoiding flying phallic rockets.

The only thing that detracts from the display is that their bases don't match. Might be something to keep in mind for next year, especially if you do a force specifically for the display.

Well, thank you captain negative :-( they have obviously just kicked in the door waving the 44 and still have sizable clumps of outdoors on their feet! duh! you didn't realise this?

I didn't match them as I wasn't planning on doing them outside on the board but my overall theme with them is that basing style, I wanted to make a more indoor structure but next year I'll do something cool, I think I learn more each time and find new things to try with them, perhaps if I didn't set myself the goal of 3 boards I could do a really cool board with one! imagine a Harlequin army set up in a webway lit with perspex and leds?!

Always gotta throw something in so it just isn't oohhs and awwws

I think the trick would be making the bases and the board at the same time. It would take a ton of planning, but some of the most impressive AoP displays I've seen have had it. Might be better to make temporary bases even, and switch them to play bases that fit the rest of the army later. Just something to think about next year.

I am already thinking of next years board and I think I want to do a fully enclosed board that is an Eldar webway that's lit from various points and made of different light reflecting and transparent surfaces but you look at it through an eyepiece like the old 80's View Master and you see inside this diorama display of Harlequins dancing around wisps of ether. I think it will take a lot of clear resin, cellophane, leds, ghost tint and clear acrylic and a small warband of Harlies

perhaps you can help me with some reference material? and images you guys know of that convey that side of the eldar? or webways?

I got a fair way through the gravity defying pew pew sides and roaring flame pushers today! got every one of them shaded with black wash/ink so now I'm feeling much better about them all, i'll do the highlights on the metals and then just the engine panel things and then we'll see where or how many to do further damage on

and I started washing Tac squad number 2 for my Mino's and primed the Nurgle board.

Now a little Nurgle board love. I want the board to be pretty clean towards the forward edge as if the terrain is becoming corrupted as they army walks forward with slime and rot in the wake i'll pour resin muddy and bloody and fade it into clear and blue

The rocks were primed grey and then drybrushed white, then I've gone and used greens to blend in while it was all still drying and added black in some overhangs and crevices, i'll add more slime and moss once it's dry. I think i've left enough space for the army to stand, on the rocks and the wooden broken pier which will look good with the water poured!

Is the new Redemptor Dreadnought a mortally wounded Primaris marine in the sarcophagus or is it a new chassis that the Castaferrum fits into? re implanting the marine into a new war machine? if it's the latter i'm in on getting one if not I won't, i'll just get another Contemptor.

I believe that the front lifts up to reveal something similar to the old sarcophagus. That Nurgle board is looking really fantastic. Wonderful shading. Going to be stunning with the water effect on.

Thanks Cam, I was beginning to think there wasn't anyone reading my blog :-) I've actually started the resin pour this morning it's looking good so far, I have to be careful not to over commit on these! the front is going to be bluer water with some waves and the back is swampy murky nastiness!

The only issue I'll have is that I didn't have the army to use to make sure it will fit on! not very clever on my part, but I'll just whack them on and hope for the best!

That Nurgle board is looking awesome, looking forward to seeing it with the resin to take it to the next step... love it.

Great stuff! I look foward to reading (or at least picture scanning) all 265 pages some day. In the meantime the metallics on the minotaurs is great - a very nice brass effect. The terrain is great to see - I especially like the more restrained effect of the buliding.

Hey guys, glad you're still there so here's some more progress! the first couple pics are the nurgle board after the resin, then after I've added some clear gloss gel medium to give the leading edge more substance like waves, i'll add more and colour the tips white after it dries (since it will dry clear)

here it is after first pour of resin with colour mixed in.

also was asked to whip up an Ork pirate for a guy at work who plays D&D so I started this guy


and I finally got brush to Russ! hard to paint all glued together but i'll still have a good go at him until I get to do version two when Whaley gets off his backside and sends me one

I'm happy to have a practice Russ, he's meant to be done to a fairly good TT standard so I'll be able to have a play around with him and colours, yours would be much darker and more iron like. the Duel would be an amazing model to paint up and I think I'd go full sick on it!

also, glad the board looks o.k, like I mentioned the only prob is the models fitting on it, it may look a bit disjointed but I'm going to have to ignore that risk since I don't own them or have them here.

Nurgle Board is looking really good at this point. I'd have to see those banners on the Minos board. I hate to seem negative, but they seem as little rough compared to your usual quality of work.

I can see that, they are a bit rough and ready I just wanted to put something to enclose the sides a bit and I kind of felt I was running out of time to do them how I really wanted to do them lets hope they don't look too bad when the army is on there! they were an absolute bitch to hang on the beam too! I nearly broke the whole board which didn't make for a happy nerd!

Nurgle board is suitably disgusting... like... eew...

Minos banners are a little rough, yes, but I think that works to them being battered and weathered. Makes them less of a focal point as well, so that everyone is focussed on the beautiful models!

How were you trying to hang them from the beams that was giving you such issue? Just gluing the edge of the fabric to underneath the wood?

I finished two boards enough to be happy with of course I could have gone further or spent more time but this year I wanted to try and do 3 to a decent level, also to hopefully encourage others locally to enter either this year or next! the Nurgle one I tried to have a distinction between infected and clean and really just an excuse to use some resin and have a play around!







and I finished the Minotaurs board, the banners are messy but not detrimental to the overall look so i'm happy with that!






and more work on the Marines for the board!



and finally I was holding out on you all with RiTides fleet of ships!










So now all I need to do is finish the Warhound, Minotaurs and more for the board, finish the Ork Board, Russ the pirate Ork and a Lone wolf.....

Wow so much to catch up on! Loving the display boards. The fleet of ships still looks so good. Good luck plowing through all that's on your desk.

Looks like I may have to leave my Ork board for next year, I had a good look at what models I can legitimately put on it for display and because I use a lot of SpellCrow parts I don't think I am going to have enough GW to tip the balance in favor but the bonus means I have 2 boards to enter and they're done! so I can focus on other things to get finished up! it may give me time enough to add some more models for the Mino board!

If you are adding more dudes to the mino board, I'd suggest moving the termis down to the ground level and cook up a honor guard. Chaplain, champion, apothecary, bannerman, techmarine, librarian.

I've got nearly enough to do that but I need an Apothecary and a Banner guy :-( and to buy them separate is quite pricey! i'll see what I can make up though.

also the GW model painter needs shooting.

the latest release models look terrible! I can honestly say I'd do a better job on the Necromunda mini's!!
