Love the Sternguard! Do you glue the arms on before painting?

I do. Makes the process more tedious but for some reason there's no other way I could bear to do it.

I'm very pleased with the build and overall paintjob. Wet blending was a scary process but I think it turned out okay. The only thing that i'm really disappointed with is what Eggroll pointed out, that the model wasn't really cleaned up properly, and only afterwards did I realise this. Just need to be extra careful and look over cleanup steps twice before painting.

Keep up the great work lips. We all have things to improve on as painters and I can see from your plog that you've made huge strides in the work you do. Keep it up! I expect more great things from you

Happy New Year everybody! Hope you're all having a blast.

Started the year off with what has to be one of my most ambitious kitbashes yet - not an extravagant finish, but the finish I was after. Looking forward to painting this guy up - I think he perfectly characterises a sternguard sergeant
I've oredered many parts to (very ambitiously) build a 10 man/2 5 man sternguard squads - you'll see what i'm on about when they arrive

Would love to hear your feedback!
Anyone interested in the parts used, there's a metal emperors champion head that was a B!@ch to shave off, the gamesday 2006 captain body, a Ultramarines tyrannic war veteran arm with slung boltgun, which I practically had to butcher the rest of the mini to get. A bit chuffed though These minis are looking more unique by the day

Here's to a good year everybody! Hope 2016 treats you all well

You're right a very unique looking model. The only thing I'd ask is what is the axe arm meant to be doing? It's kind of just hanging there at the moment. If he's sprinting it should be bunched up rather than straight and if he's swinging it should be raised a bit and coming accross the body somewhat.

I’m deeply envious of your kitbashes. So many unique and awesome Ultramarines march across your workbench! And then you put top-notch paint jobs on them.

@Cheers Para Stay tuned buddy!

@Sock you're absolutely right. I was looking for a general running pose, and the arm has since been changed. I wanted to change the shoulder pad as well so it was two birds one stone. Appreciate the feedback buddy needed somebody to make me realise that his arm looked awkward and static. What do you think of the new pose?

@Neve hey cheers buddy. I definately wouldn't be envious of my earlier kitbashes though - hahaha it definately took a long and agonising journey to get to the stage of kitbashing that i'm at now, some of my older kitbashes are honestly utter rubbish, the wrong chapter symbols, clunky, awkward you name it! The old practice makes perfect line comes to mind again

New pose with a changed right arm and shoulder pad - as advised by sock. Photos mayn't be the best, or the angles of them, but its 3:30am and I can't be arsed retaking i'm afraid but I think it looks significantly better. Well pointed out Sock, buddy appreciate it.

my minis look so awful when photographed under my painting light also excuse the paintwork - a wee insight into the eeearly stages of WIP

My only issue with the changed arm pose is that...well, it might serve him better to be facing the direction he's moving!

Thanks everybody!

Sergeant is coming along The helmet technically should be red but I couldn't resist doing it in white, because I think on this guy it looks so much better, and he could also double as a veteran for vanguard or a command squad

Am doing more work tonight, but thought i'd take pics of the progress so far before the sun sets, armour and whites are currently done

The Captain looks amazing, and not to "me too", but the cloak stood out to me as well. Mostly because the rest of your work is so fantastic that the roughness of the cloak stands out, where it might not if you are work wasn't as good as it is. Sternguard looks cool as well, and the WIP Sergeant looks great as well.

Thanks for your feedback Azazel, appreciate it no worries at all about "me too"ing, its a big thing that weighed on me mind as well

Some truly inspirational stuff in here, loving the conversion work. I think I would be too scared to attempt to pull off the stuff you are doing with these minis but it really does look worth it.

Awesome. I’m kind of curious what’s going on just off the edge of his base. He’s obviously glancing at something as he’s running by. Fallen brother? Slain foe? Thing crawling up out of the ground?

Love how he has a sense of movement and purpose. He’s got places to go, xenos to kill. Your modeling really brought that to life.

Agreed - great work on both the build and the paint on that figure and it gives a lot more character than the usual model "bolter across the chest" or "sergeant pointing and yelling" pose. Sometimes "quiet" speaks louder.
