He looks really cool on the new terrain! You should definitely take pics of all your single models in it. As for the model himself, I think he looks really awesome so far. I've never been a huge fan of the deathwatch scheme since it removes a lot of the uniqueness from their origin chapter, but I love the addition of the battle-damaged Necron on the base!

Well, we're back with our noses deep down in the Heresy and armed with the new and shiny HH:3 let's get painting!

Today I managed to get crunch down time to about 2 hours (not including freehand or base) per model and with this improved way of painting I might acctually get a full squad painted this year! Horray!

Less lollygaging, moar pictures!

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.

The new guy looks awesome. I really love the deep indigo you have going for the pre-heresy scheme. It really looks nice. I definitely prefer this scheme to the one that Forge World used. The classic look, in my opinion, is superior.

The really great thing FW did is that this sheme is totally valid, the indigo being one of serval used by the sneaky bastards according to the fluff and colourpanels in HH:3. The azure metallic look being more common but by no means the only one used.

Oh really? Well that's very cool and flavorful for Alpha Legion. The new HH book's gonna be my next purchase when I get the money and little details like that make me want it even more.

Yeah, awesome model ! The paintjob is terrific, especially considering you only spent 2 hours on it !

Keep it up, I'd love to see a squad before the end of the year

Thanks guys.

The fast pace comes from using a larger brush and fretting less about details. The basic armour is painted with a basecoat brush (first three layers on the basecoat) and only at the final two highlights (layer 4 & 5) I go down in size to a standard brush. Freehands and eyes are done with Army Painter's detail and insane detail brushes.

Concidering I have another 4 of these upscaled ones ready to paint.. weeell we'll try to have at least one more done by sunday.
I also have 2 more of my Azure Serpent legion marines halfway done, I'll try to finish those up tomorrow. And put the final highlight on my Deathwatch gravgunner... darn thing is two licks of paint from finished after all.

Well, that failed. Stupid beer, being all tasty..

I managed to finish these two at least, always something I guess.

One down, 6 more to go.

So, this is the sergeant for the upcomming command squad, the double meltapistols are not strictly legal but works as a stand-in for a meltagun. I have had great success with running commandsquads as dedicated firesupport elements with 5 special weapons so I thought this army needed one or perhaps two. Meltaguns for Vehicle/MC-hunting (or T4-multi wound units) or flamers for horde-control.
Sorry about the glare.

That'd definitely be valid for a meltagun

Looking good! That's quite a nice alternative for a Meltagun. Might have to swipe that idea.

Love your work man! You are a huge inspiration for my own army - making cool poses and doing a nice and clean colourscheme, well done sir!

I like where the Vindicator is going, cool twist by having a stripe across the tank - looking forward to see it done

Zuul & Yggs: Yepp, it's a chopped up AC smacked onto a stormbolter with s sizable ammostore. It's meant to represent 2 stormbolters since there is no space for a second stormbolter.

Well, I usually never go for the ''removable parts'' option anyway, (because magnets, how do they even work?! ) we usually use markers for temporary effects (stunned, pinned, blinded, etc) and a small scorecard to keep track of lost hullpoints and weapons to keep things simple.

I'll stick to freehanding until they crank out one of those nice A4-transfersheets and some etched brass.
