She looks suspiciously like Rin Kagamine...

Also, one anime I really want to watch is Cat Soup. It's another Hayao Miyazaki film, so it's bound to be good. Looks creepy though.

Also, a little girl in anime is not automatically a loli. It's only lolicon if said little girl is portrayed in a sexualized manner. Just being "cute" doesn't count.

For example Yotsuba&! is definately not lolicon. It's just an anime centred on a cute little girl.

Given Miyazaki's Midas touch I'm going to have to look into that movie.

Funny enough, I don't think there's any relation between Rin Kaga (from Usagi Drop) and Rin Kagamine from vocaloid.

Easy to mistake one for the other in conversation :3

I watched Clannad and After story. It got very sad near the end but i wont go into details. To many spoilers. I highly recomend that you don't read any comments before finishing because it seems that people love to put spoilers everywhere in the comments.

Is Fruits Basket worth a watch? I have heard good things about it, but don't know much about it...

Its ok. I watched it a long time ago, and I found it funny at times. The ending for the anime was rather meh but I've been told that the manga is a lot better. If you like a romance story then you'll enjoy the show if not avoid it.

Yeah basically, I liked Nobuna's Ambition a little more then Battle Girls but that can easily be dismissed as general bias. I also liked monkey better then his ditzy blonde schoolgirl version.

I confess I dropped Clannad, didn't even make it to after story... I was just like "....feth me I can't make it through any more of this without gnawing my leg off to survive." It's the only anime I've really done that to out of distaste, I drop kicked Bleach for example because it quickly acquired DBZ syndrome like every other anime based on a manga that's still being published and there's only so much drawn out faffing about I can take before the voices start talking to me.

Worst anime you've ever watched?

I really have to list a few. Tenchi in Tokyo took the winning Tenchi Universe and actually made it unwatchable. To the point I will not acknowledge it's existence in regular conversation. Dragonaut the Resonance is possibly the blandest anime in existence, so formulaic it's not even funny and it doesn't even follow the formula well. It does get a little gold star from me for though.

Anime that surprised you the most that you actually enjoyed it?

Rosario + Vampire, I was expecting it to suck horrendously then it actually turned out to be a decent harem comedy. it does earn my ire for my immortal anime pet peeve

One a final side note, what makes an anime good to you? I know we all have different metrics but for me it's always been how it engages me, mentally or emotionally. The ones that can do one or both extremely well are the ones that stand out in my mind. Angel Beats! taking the gold star in both categories for making me do some serious thinking and in certain areas have a serious eye perspiration problem... where Outlaw Star got me more into a dreaming thinking frame of mind and engaged me emotionally in very different ways. It still invaded mind and heart. Not saying I can't enjoy anime that don't do those things, because I can, have and do, but the ones that truly stand out as favorites to me usually operate as such.

Lots of good anime this season. The summer was typically summer, with lots of action, and high school stuff, but the fall is looking a little more toned down and sophisticated.

That's a tricky one. It really depends on my mood. I find a bit of heartwarming really helps. Humour definately scores extra points too. Especially if it's the right combination of snarky subtle humour and well loved anime wackiness. Hetalia, for example, absolutely hits the spot with me.

If I'm feeling in the mood for a horror or something a little more serious, it needs to be more subtle. The tendancy for the obvious things like "Yuki gets attacked by some weirdo on a train" just don't do it for me. They often have to draw a fine line between the trite and predictable and the totally depraved to get that perfect level of disturbing.

Fantasy is where its at for me. Good stories in fantasy setting are my favorite to watch. 2nd would be mech in a military or war setting. No mecha racing shows thankyouverymuch.

Worst anime ever? Hard to say bc I usually just drop an anime if I can't get into in the first couple episodes, so it is hard for me to tell if they were bad or just not to my liking. But im gonna have to say the worst anime I have ever watched all the way though, if you can call it an anime, is pokemon. I saw the first couple of seasons and some of the later ones, and they just do not live up to the games or books for me


Most surprising goes to Grave of fireflies and Cowboy bebop. I heard both were good, and boy were they, The endings were stellar in both. The movie for cowboy bebop was also really awesome. I just hope that the new live action movie isn't bad :(

The worst anime I've ever seen has to be C: The money of Soul and Possibility Control.

It tries so hard to be a serious show about people who battle monsters, but it fails so hard after having a stellar start. Close Runner Ups go to anything from the Ikkitousen series, and Queen's Blade.

Upotte, as much as I like guns, was horrible. The only part that was good was their winter vacation, when there was hardly any mention of them being guns, and you could just enjoy the character doing normal High School junk.

What about Lucky Star or Black Lagoon? Are they any good?

Black Lagoon is pretty good in the first season. Second is mostly non-manga filler and gets good again in the OAV.

1: Claymore: The story Jumps around everywhere in the first season(and so far only) they do a 3 part flashback that i had to look up ti figure out
2: Gunslinger Girl: Just Crud man, it makes noe sense what so ever "Lets send cute little Moe girls with guns at the mobsters"

If you really want all that with anime you can always play the previously mentioned eroge game My Girlfriend Is President. You can even use special forces teams to peep on Madame President in the bath.

One manga I read that was actually quite good was Shoujo Sect. It's a shame nobody will be able to look past the sex scenes, as underneath it has a deep and heartwarming plot.

I'm torn as to whether to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion or not. On the one hand it's a brilliant deconstruction of the Mecha genre and is an all time classic, on the other hand, several parts of it (Asuka's mind rape, the entire goddamn movie etc...) looks absolutely disturbing.

It's worth watching, even the fethed up portions serve a purpose. NGE's a classic for a reason and well worth the watch. I suggest dragging a friend into it with you so you have someone to discuss it with.
