Recently?
Heroic Age-Haven't completed it. Decent story, not bad dubbing.
High School of the Dead-Hilariously awesome.
Chobits-Wife read the manga, ended up watching it and it caught my eye. Some of the funniest tv I've ever watched.
Witchblade-Meh. Dubbing wasn't pretty, not a bad story though.
FMA-Frustrating storyline but overall good anime.
Speed Grapher-One of the coolest story lines I've ever seen.

Well friend got me watching Madoka finally. Mostly Kyubey, seem to like that little guy for some reason. Anyway I like how it changes completely as soon as ep 3 starts.

I want to track down the Neon Genesis Evangelion Platinum Box Set, and End of Evangelion, although having looked closer it looks even freakier than I thought. The mass produced EVAs and their eyeless grinning skulls, Misato getting blown in half, poor, poor Asuka and her mind rape ("MY SOUL IS BEING VIOLATED!") and that creepy GIANT GRINNING FACE that's all that's left of poor Rei at the end. Seriously. That thing is...horrible.
Actually, if I'm correct, Rebuild of Evangelion is a sequal series. But seeing how End of Evangeilon kills...moreorless everyone (and they're the lucky ones) how does the sequal work? Does it treat EOE as non-canon (I heard that EOE is actually an alternate ending to episodes 25 and 26) and uses the actualseries ending as the canonically correct ending? Or does Hideaki find some other, disturbing way of continuing the saga?

It's not a sequel, it's something of a re-imagining. I rather prefer it so far over the original series. Better character development and it looks a whole lot better too, with some pretty badness fight scenes so far.

If you pay close attention, there are some... strange things in the remakes. One thing is, why is the moon covered in blood? That didn't happen except in the EOE. wait.... creepy.
You could say its a re imagining, but you could also say its something like resetting the world, but leaving the scars.

Ah, that makes sense. Not even Gainax could pluck a sequel from the soul crushingly depressing end of EOE. Damnit, if just reading about it makes me depressed, I hate to think what actually watching it will do.
I heard somewhere that the voice actors for Shinji and Asuka were actually crying while recording the end of EOE. Good fething grief.

Also, Sailor Moon. The definitive classic Magical Girl series, wildly ahead of its time with regards to same-sex relationships (something the dub completely and utterly ruined)...But is it any good? I was thinking of watching it, but I don't know if it is worth watching or not.
One film I definately want to see is cult classic AKIRA. It was the first "mature" anime introduced to the West, and the definer of the cyberpunk genre, and, well, just looks awesome.

Just been on Youtube and listened to Shinji's scream...Emperor's hairy arse it was horrible. I cannot recall a more convincing rendition of pain and utter brokenness.
May have to take the plunge and watch Puella Magi Madoka Magica, as I have heard so many good things about it.
Also, I plan to watch Kiki's Delivery Service. Another Miyazaki film, so it should be excellent.

Just watched a few eps of Madoka Magica. We were not impressed. Kiki's Delivery Service was on the other hand quite excellent.

Were they the first 2 episodes? Because I heard by episode 3 the tone changes completely.
I may eventually watch Cowboy Bebop. It does look quite brilliant.
And another one I have heard of: Air Gear. Any good?

Both are good, but I liked the CB movie more than the series. Air Gear apparently stopped before it got too weird in the manga, sort of suddenly but still decent.
As for Madoka, I didn't like the first two eps either, but it got better as it went along. The ending was interesting and I can see why people say what they do about Kyubey, but still like him.  As for the other characters in it, it sort of shifted around in what ones I liked and disliked except for Madoka, which wasn't that interesting and probably the least liked out of the mains.

my anime society played the first 2 episodes and now I've watched just about all of them. TBH pretty cute and funny if not slightly...well.....suffice to say the "nay to boobs" crowd wont like it XD

The first new anime I've watched for the first time in many years would be Girls Und Panzer.
Not sure if it's been mentioned, but basically tank warfare is considered a martial art for high school girls.
So they drive WW2-era tanks (Churchills, Panzers, Shermans etc.) in competitions against other schools.

Ok....we just combined two of my unhealthy obsessions (anime and tanks). I must see this.
Edit: Oh My Dear God. They drive a PzKw IV (hard to tell in the trailer but looks like an Ausf B. Silly girls, Go Ausf G or Go Home.)

For those who like watching anime free and legal crunchyroll will have episode 1 of Girls Und Panzer legal to watch Wednesday.

It's up now for paid users.
Episode two will be released on the 17th for paid users and the 24th for free users. I suspect the release schedule will remain 2-3 eps a month after that. I enjoyed the preview it actually looks like a lot of fun!
I can't help but think our heroines would get stomped hard IRL, the IJA is not known for it's heavy armor... or it's tank to tank combat ability. They'd get stomped by an American or Werhmacht armored force of equivalent size and composition.

Yes. But their necks would snap from the sheer weight of their eyes and heads on such a thin neck IRL.
Applying real word logic to anime rarely goes well. Unless it's NGE, in which case your mind and sanity will be defiled forever.
Incidentally, NGE was originally set up to fail, hence why they put Hideaki Anno in charge, as at the time he was mentally unstable. It turned out to be considered the greatest anime of all time. It also scars your soul and leaves you shivering with fear every night, but that's another story.
How about Desert Punk? Any good?
