Yeah, I like that too despite never seeing that series.
Credens Justitiam is also good with how its used to set it up at first.
The composer used their own language for it, so no one else really knows the meaning of it. But, she's been with See-Saw, FictionJunction and Kalafina, so leaves it with a decent soundtrack.
Yeah all of the music is nice, I like how Sayaka's theme changed like that as she did more or less. All of Sayaka's and Homura's are my favourite from the series.

Anyway. I brought the entire series today at expo in the the not quite closest city to my own so I will be watching the series again soon.
edit again. My favourite music from madoka magica is probably Symposium Magarum. It sounds badarce and sad at the same time.
i really hope when you bought the DVD's you didn't pay the horribly over priced value that Aniplex put on this series. Its awful how expensive the series is to get on Blu-Ray or DVD.
That being said the soundtrack is amazing for this show. The composer did an awesome job for Xenosaga Episode 3 and he makes such epic music that its hard not to go back and listen to his tracks over and over.

Just finished episode 13 of Neon Genesis Evangelion. It is slowly getting a lot more sinister. The truth behind the Magi was...creepy.

Convention prices are really cheep so I didn't pay that much. I got them through madman entertainment since they are the ones that provide for Australasia. I paid $75 New Zealand so I saved $15 on them.

Watched the first seasons of Squid Girl and Sword Art Online today.
Squid Girl was cute and pretty funny through and through.
Sword Art Online is a heavy contender now for favorite anime. At least top 5. It manages to address a lot of interesting questions, it's got great character and actual relationship development (and closure!), and I'm really excited to start the next season. Super curious where it's going to go from there though.

Oh alright. I'm not sure how the conversion rates go, but it seems like your release is different than the one here. The company who has the license for the US has a record of taking shows and overpricing them thinking they can charge people 50 dollars or more for a Blu-Ray that only has 3 episodes. Terrible on all accounts since in Japan you can get away with that, but here? No way. Why would I pay 50 bucks for one Blu-Ray with 3 episodes when Funimation sells me a whole box set on Blu-Ray for 50?

I think the only thing that's really questionable is the pricing they put on main stream stuff. I don't mean bleach and naruto and one piece and everything else that has a million episodes but the stuff like fullmetal and coyboy bebop. They charge a huge sum for those compared to others titles just because they know people want them. Its kinda sad to see them exploiting the inelasticity of the demand for them but it does get a little tiresome. an example. the fullmetal alchemist brotherhood collections are an insane $60 New Zealand which is about $50 US.

Well that makes sense that stuff that sells more gets priced just a bit more than everything else, but that isn't too unreasonable in my opinion. Its unreasonable to pay 50 dollars US for 3 episodes. Japan sells anime this way, but more expensive IIRC. Usually anime sells for 90 dollars a Blu-Ray. Aniplex thinks that the US market is the Japanese market.
If you want to see a huge difference just look at Brokenblade on amazon. Its 40 dollars US for 6 OVA movies that total to about 300 minutes. Madoka has a few episodes and costs more. That makes no sense in any way. Its a shame to see a show do poorly on DVD sales simply because Aniplex got their hands on it.
This brings up a good question! What's the worst mindfeth or sudden left turn/mood whiplash you've ever run head on into in an anime?
I have to separate the categories with NGE taking best Mindscrew and the anime Shuffle (based on an H-game, but shockingly NOT a hentai) for the worst case of whiplash I've ever seen. Take a cutesy, shockingly well written (and with a male character with an actual spine to boot!) harem anime and then BAM! To the cliffs of insanity and into the waters of madness.
I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn

Just watched episode 20 of Neon Genesis Evangelion.
I must admit, when I started the series, I felt a combination of disappointment and relief when it wasn't as creepy as I expected. Aside from the occasional creepy bit (Shinji writhing and screaming in pain when he is burnt by the 6th Angel's laser beam for example) but after episode 13 it started getting pretty freaky. Shinji being forced to almost kill his best friend, Unit 01 going berserk and ripping free of its restraints, Shinji being absorbed into Unit 01, the various hallucinations he suffers...trippy stuff. And I haven't even got to the mind rape scene, which I am dreading.
I mustn't run away and give up when I am so close to finishing the series.

The ending of Berserk is Really fethed up. Wolf's Rain has an emotional whiplash moment near the end that left me spinning. Not anime, but pretty much every series by Joss Whedon you know is about to get really bad when the characters are having a nice happy everything is finally alright moment.
And I liked Afro Samurai. The second one isn't as good as the first IMHO though.

The ending of End of Evangelion (an already disturbing film) is so hideous and mind screwing that it left me completely brainfucked and I HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN IT YET. THAT is the definition of brainfuck.
