Oh, feth yes. But avoid the heavily edited US TV release.

.... Not sure if you'd consider it a 'mech' anime, but Galaxy Express 999 might be up you alley. Also:

Space Battleship Yamato.

Attack on Titan actually has about 40 to 50 pages worth per month! I agree that an anime made to be an anime should be superior, but with how lazy a lot of Japanese creators are getting now a days it doesn't surprise me that they resort to Manga adaptations instead. I'd rather see a smart manga like Shingeki get an Anime adaptation any day than see a moe fanservice show, because there isn't enough fan service already...

And/or we can have an anime for the other Arcs in Berserk, instead of always just doing the Golden Age Arc over and over. Or is this only me? :/
I haven't read or watched Berserk so I can't comment unfortunately. That's a shame though that they just keep re releasing the same arc over and over.

You need to read it. It could be argued as the best manga ever throwing in factors like the heavily detailed art. Objecitvely though it's one of the best manga ever and up in the top 10. Monster being it's main competition.

Berserk has always been one of those mangas I wanted to read, but I never got around to reading. It takes me a while to read or watch anime because of wargaming. Lately any free time I have goes to my g/f or painting. Its hard to find time for anime even when she likes anime too.

A good series with some of the dark overtones of berserk is Vinlandsaga.

The darkness between the stars

Well I took a long break from watching anime and reading manga. I was bored and somebody sent me a review of the RWBY show on Rooster Teeth. Boredom combined with nostalgia to get me to watch reviews and from there... I started watching Darker than Black. I actually really liked it! It was sometimes a bit confusing and once or twice I got lost in a wait what just happened but overall I'm glad I watched it. I didn't care for season 2 as much but still found it caught the general concept of the show well enough (just why so short!) and enjoyed it in the end (then again I think it is essential to watch the OVAs to understand it... granted I thought the OVAs were great). I really hope season 3 is good. Now I'm trying to figure out what to watch next xD

On a side note... Can I rudely ask for any possible recommendations for what to watch next? It's been a long time since I last was into this stuff and I've likely missed out on many things. In terms of anime that are still stuck in my head even now, FMA of both versions, Darker than Black, Cowboy Bebop, Gurren Lagaan, A certain magical index, Eureka Seven, Trigun, and Lupin the Third. I enjoy action packed moments (all of these to a certain extent ahve it), but I'm more a sucker for character interaction usually.

Yeah, the OVAs were pretty essential to understand what was going on in Season 2.

I'm watching Stein's Gate right now and about halfway through. Really great although the first few episodes were a little slow and confusing.

Unless she has a totally OP mech. Seriously, wtf?

...I never really got that from Lucky Star really. I mean I can see where it would be hard to follow even for the average anime fan. If you don't follow at least a little of Japanese culture past anime, I think you might miss some of the jokes. Or did you mean just the OP?

Re: Kallen in Code Geass, I always hated how much she got damselized. Her hype had her down as an incredible bad ass, but she got set up as the punching bag so freaking much.

Spoiler:
I did like the implication at the very end that she's one of the few who figured out what Lelouch was doing as Emperor, and still loved him. That speaks to strong devotion AND having finally caught on to the weird mental pattern chess master Lelouch sometimes follows to achieve his goals.

For Mecha shows, I'm currently watching Heavy Metal L-Gaim. A real classic, and more 'Star Wars' and 'Dune' than most mecha shows you get.

I also recommend Panzer World Galient, if you like mediaeval worlds with mechs, and a bit of old school sci-fi.

If you enjoyed A Certain Magical Index, you'd probably love A Certain Scientific Railgun. It follows Makoto instead of what's-his-face, and has all sorts of Esper-based shenanigans and battles, mixed in with a lot off slice-of-life young teenager/preteen drama.

Where do you even find these? I'll have to give them a watch! : D

Most of the time when I try to search for mecha I end up getting the Gundam series, which I have already seen all of. Or Code Geass and Full Metal panic, both of which I don't like, and the rest are all non mecha anime that still somehow end up in the mecha category lol

I will...never be a memory

One of my all time favorite plain fun mecha show is Martian Successor Nadesico the TV show. They manage to get in almost every anime trope over the course of the series, funny as hell while hidding a dark story.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.

The strategies and dramatic moments in that show are so damn good objectively. Luring an enemy army into a massive story building so theyre nice and packed and secretly evacuating and collapsing the building? That's actually a good strategy. Sending charges through the mountain to wipe out an enemy army on lower ground by causing massive mud slides? Gold.
Spoiler:
Or when Lelouch is high off of victory at the battle of Kyoto and viciously arrogant and then he realized his girlfriends dad died in that mudslide? That gak's gold.

Kallen wasn't worfed too badly. Sure she got ground pounded pretty often, but she issues her fair share of pounding as well over the course of the series. It's not her fault that Suzaku has the greatest combat power of all; plot armor. She actually earned her bad ass Suzaku just got it handed to him

EDIT: But of course, no one can beat
