7-1 fanservice you say?

Sounds kind of like IS, minus robots plus knights. Will probably give it a look.
...sorta. Ichika's a much more developed protagonist, and the girls in WR are significantly less developed personality wise (even compared to the slightly blander second season of IS
I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn
Lemme at least leave a good hoof beat they'll remember loud and long

The soundtrack for GC is amazingly good. The characters (mainly Shu and Arisa) did make me do a few of these at times. I liked the story, even though it could have been fleshed out longer, except the end. That was about as effed up as Oreimo's ending only sad too. But on the whole I found GC very enjoyable as evidenced by me owning both parts of the dubbed DVDs.

I agree with both of your points. The 2nd season is following the LNs well though (except for cutting out the entirety of the Cannonball Fast ).

Coming back from an anime hiatus as of late so I'm just catching up. I watched all the episodes of Kyoukai no Kanata that are out and now I'm moving on to Kill la Kill. Unfortunately, I fell in love with Maiko Ogure and now have to suffer the consequences of loving a minor character that gets no attention from the fanbase.
I am generally an Anime hater, never really found much enjoyment from them other than the occasional series that peaks intrest (other than the obvious ones FLCL and Cowboy Bebop)
but I saw Soul Eater last night on Adult swim for the first time (I usually avoid anime night like the plague till Star Wars comes on) and found myself thinking it wasnt too bad. I am interested in more and wondered your opinions on it,
Also saw Sword art Online and since .Hack//sign is my favorite and really the only Anime I will just watch, I am interested in this. It looks like a less feel infused sexed up .Hack, am I correct in this assumption? Is it worth watching?
No, SAO is trash. The protagonist is such a Mary Sue that even Matthew 'Spiritual Liege' Ward would be left aghast, to say nothing of the rubbish plot - basically a harem-style wish fulfillment plot that wouldn't be out of place in a high school student's fanfic - and completely laughable villains.

Even after making the Matt Ward reference, I still really think that it is still a BIG Understatement. But then again, that is my opinion on that....

Good choice; .hack// AFAIK remains the iconic RPG-style anime franchise.

Rest assured, you are not alone.

The music and the art style for starters, then the characters themselves, and finally the story, which while slow at times is very well done. But personally, the music is the best part.

I really have no idea, it is generally everything I dislike about anime all wrapped up in a bundle, but it is just something I love, I dont know if it is Nostaligia that made me love it, or just the wish that someday I could get stuck in it. I also like the world, and its set up, I would 10/10 play a game like that. The sad story doesnt really pull on any feels strings but its still good. It actually made me care about the protoganist and his murder blob.
Wow came to this thread expecting no .Hack//Sign, and its the first thing I see. I've been rewatching it lately and ever though its a bit slow I like it a lot. At least its not one of those cheap DBZ rip offs. Don't get me wrong I love DBZ and its characters but it started to get predictable and boring after a while

I completely agree that .hack is a great series and that SAO...left much to be desired lol I didn't think the first season was that bad, but it wasn't very good either.
There is another anime currently airing that is styled as an RPG, Log Horizon. I like it a lot so far, and it definitely feels like characters are in a video game.

Hmm...perhaps I'll check it out. I certainly hope it doesn't end up like SAO and Destiny. Two Mary Sues are enough, thank you very much.

First off, Soul Eater is awesome. One of my favorites.
Second, Sword Art Online was really good in the first season I thought. Second season wasn't as good, and got really messed up right there at the end, but was still quite enjoyable.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I stopped watching the various .Hack series when the ones I watched never have endings, because you have to play thru the games for those.

hmmm I just typed the series up into google and chose a link lol If you can't find a link with good quality I can pm you the link I use.
They usually update every saturday with the new episode and it is currently on like ep 8 or 9.
The series main character may be a bit of a mary sue, but there has not been a ton to judge him on yet. The series has several characters that get a fair amount of attention so far.

I can deal with a little Mary Sue in a main protoganist from time to time, so long as the surrounding enviorment is worth watching, If you wouldnt mind pming me? I am at work now, and will totally forget to look when I get home in a few hours.
Well its balanced in Fairy Tail by the fact that the characters are solidly developed
Thats fine, Im just irritated with shows being serious for a bit then launching into a metric feth ton of upskirt, or bouncing boobs.
or shows with what could have been really cool plot lines, and great animation! Only to be wasted on fan service in stupid amounts *Cough HOTD cough*
fairy tail didn't seem to have as much up skirt stuff when i watched it. They characters seem ok and often I was left a little confused. They always seem to be completely outmatched and yet they still won eventually.
I am currently watching Log Horizon. I think the series does a great job of showing how the characters handle being stuck in the game and their development within the system. Not a lot of action, but a fair amount of story. I recommend it.

Yeah, they always take a beating yet they always manage to win, somehow. Definitely no Mary Sues there.
