Well nah that one was obvious. And its obviously a girl they just had to slide in the bi/gender confusion just because. I kind of figured that was what you were talking about TDL. This is an anime, and tentacles are already a part of the norm... let's just not go there, that way dragons lay. Or is it lie? Or have lain? Stupid english.

This summer anime season has, imo, been rather superb (last year was bland for me).
Tokyo Ghoul, Terror in Resonance, Aldnoah.Zero all stand out for me as rather excellent series. Tokyo ESP isn't super great, but it's good enough to enjoy. SAO Season 2 has picked up. Stuffs been rather grand on the anime front of late.
But yes, Aldnoah.Zero stands out among them all at this point. First it starts as reverse Gundam, where the heroes are in the Zakus and the villains in the Gundams, and it just keep amping up the tension until now. Oh man I hope they don't heel face turn on me. I will be so pissed.

Aye, you actually nailed it there, the heroes do feel like your avarage Zaku pilot.

Also now caught the last episode of Tokyo Ghoul. A little sad the series ended at 12 episodes. It doesn't get really good till after the part where Kaneki becomes hell unleashed incarnate XD I hope they make another season.

Yeah, I watched the first episode (or two?) of Aldnoah.Zero, and managed to abstain for the rest. Until now. Whoo!!

Yep, though I do loathe the english dub. Ugh. I'll probably boot up the French sub version and rewatch it all (S2 isn't in English yet anyway).
Maybe if we're lucky the manga will finally be made into Season 3 as was originally intended

I just blitzed through Toradora! which had been recommended to me years ago, dunno why I waited. It was super-enjoyable. It's certainly not a fresh concept, and you can probably guess how the plot resolves just from the description of the premise. Still, it was so charming and well executed that didn't really matter. If you haven't seen it and you're at all into that sorta high school drama/young love sort of space, I'd check it out. While it doesn't stray too far from the formula it treats the characters with a great deal of respect and toys with the archetypes enough to be really engaging.
In terms of more recent fare, I watched Nanana's Buried Treasure which was pure drek, no substance whatsoever and utterly incepable of delivering any emotional impact when it tried. The premise is absurd, the execution clumsy and the characters are totally forgettable. Seriously I finished it like.. 3 days ago and couldn't tell you half their names. Still, It was enjoyable, enjoyable garbage. Kinda like fast food, you know it has no substance, it doesn't taste that great and you'd really never recommend it to anyone but you enjoy in the moment all the same.
I've also be following Argevollen, which isn't great but is getting better. It stretches a bit around the seams where either the budget or the formula won't really allow to stretch it's legs. However I like the overall look of the universe and it just feels oddly credible in a way that mecha shows often miss. I'm cautiously optimistic about how this is going to turn out overall.

I watched the first couple eps of this. At the time I thought it was aimed at a younger audience as it seemed... simplistic? I thought it might be like you said - "enjoyable garbage" - so intended to watch more at some stage, but it's pretty low on the priorities hehe.
