Whalemusic - I've even tried corrosive epoxy primer, to no avail. It WONT stick.

The new decimator arrived, but I didn't really want to do the same conversion again, so I grabbed my bits box, a forgefiend kit, and let my imagination run wild. I like where it's going, actually moreso than the old one, but I'm in doubt as to the knife arms on the stomach, and ditto on the tail - it needs to have something there, as it's rather empty without, but ideas are welcome - maybe it's alright as is?

Only one piece of advice: As it stands, the armour plates on the lower legs are the only piece of armour on the whole model that isn't rounded. Maybe you should use the armour plates from the Maulerfiend instead? It works great with the dreadknight legs, as you can see here:

I'd agree on the leg plates. Also I think the knives would work better if they were pointing downwards like Tyranid scything talons.

I agree with Squigsquasher they need to be like a downward scythe, pray mantis style since when you look they look too similar alongside the legs if you understand where i'm coming from. I like the tail it just needs some sort of blade attachment to it or even some writhing whip coils would be cool if executed right, so if any unfortunate guardsmen gets himself between his legs he's either going to get stomped on, stabbed at or get shredded alive by whips, the perfect triple threat Well done again!

I actually like the leg plates but I agree with Squigsquasher and Iron-Encore on the little blade arms.

Glad to be of help As for my Dreadknight/Decimator: Thanks for the kind words! And you're right, that is indeed an old G.i:Joe head, a callback to a youth misspent on slightly corny action figures I am getting mixed rections for the head, but I still like it.

I've been playing quite a few games with them, while I'm having (great) difficulty deciding on a colour scheme, and while I like the style of playing a LOT (It's so different, and looks awesome on the table), people are complaining that the drake is OP, so I'm doing a new list, replacing the drake with a second Helbrute, and two spawns - so I needed to make some. Here they are so far:




On an unrelated note, a buddy of mine are starting an Excorsists army, and needed a model for the IA character Silas, a captain of the chapter. He's described as being "Ogryn sized - larger than any space marine", and so he will be! (Just a very rough mockup, but dayum he's big!):

Wow, As always mind blowing conversions. And Silas looks really promicing although the propotions between waist, shoulders and head is a little strange in this mockup. Maybe you need to bulk out his chest armor some more.

And while i really like the tentacled spawns i think they are missing something. Maybe a different "head" or something on their backs like some sensory stuff.

It's not often that I enjoy these type of "canon" stretching projects but this one is exceptionally well done!

The heldrake conversion in most definitly my favorite!

Thanks a lot! I have to say though, I don't really feel I'm stretching the canon - most, if not all of the projects in this army, can be found in the original canon/fluff - I'm just making models for them.

The Magos riding that beast is indeed fantastic! Great use of bitz on the head -- so easy, yet so effective! Another little detail that really gets me is that railing on the back of the construct: Just because these guys are evil doesn't mean they can't construct their killing machines with luxury and style in mind

When it comes to the spawn models, I agree with btldoomhammer that they are missing something: Right now, they are simply too organic, I believe. So add some random cabling and horrible, insectile claws and blades ASAP

Oh, and you're definitely not stretching the fluff! Rather, you're using the CSM rules to represent a part of the background that always keeps getting hinted at, yet never seems to make it to the tabletop.


On a somewhat related note, this has been a huge inspiration for my kitbashing my own World Eaters warpsmith lately!

Been following this since the start, and it's one of my favorite logs ever. Your conversions are all so seamless and original. I wish everyone's armies were this original in terms of counts-as options! Hopefully you'll inspire others to make their armies new and personal instead of picking a scheme from the Codex and showing us things we've already seen a dozen times.

Kraut: Thanks - that's also my main goal - to get something that only exists in the fluff to the battlefield - I can't get enough of giant robodaemons, biomech and chaos, so Dark Mech is a match made in heaven for me. That said, some people in my local gaming club think it's silly to make what is basically a counts as army - oh well, I think this army is the most fun I've ever had in the hobby.

Zimmerman: The bodies are meiotic spore mines (tyranid forgeworld) and the eyes are land raider searchlights (I think).

Whoah Guita, I am totally onboard for that Excorcist Captain Silas! they are a chapter I have a very deep soft spot for :-) and have recently considered changing parts of my FleshEaters army to convert them into Excorcists! the size and presence he's got so far is perfect and I hope he gets some more love soon from you?
