Thanks buddy, this is just a really minor 'Im still alive' type of post. Real life has been busy lately but not in a bad way.

I received my package from Krautscientist and among the plethora of bits he sent my way was a head he had knocked together, I instantly placed it on Varrus' shoulders as it was VERY similar to what I was planning.

So what do you guys think?

That looks really cool, especially how you have positioned the Chainsword, and because of the way you have it it reminded me of a fighting style I tried for a while when I used to fight in the SCA (I was a 'stick jock', I never got into the courtly stuff). If you put his Combat Knife in his left hand you can have him fighting Florentine style. He'll still have his Bolt Pistol for WYSIWYG, but the overall effect would be wicked cool.

Off topic, I've got my bike back on the road and have put in about 100 miles so far. Still a lot of sand on the road from winter in the intersections, but the main roads are clear. I expect a lot of saddle time this year.

If this is a Kharn stand in shouldn't it be a plasma pistol, or was his equipment changed in the latest Codex?

This is a rough of the original idea I had for the head. I may pick up another Skull Crusher head and perhaps combine the two. I think it could make a rather convincing Kharn like head.

Ps ignore the blu tack. Obviously the gs would be a little neater

Yeah I think I'm gonna work on the last one a bit more. I think that has the most potential IMHO.

I think the last head/combination works a lot better for the scale and feel of the character. Brutal yet skilled. I think the backpack might need changed, something a bit more simple that wouldn't get in the way so much. I think the swept back backpack would match the dynamic pose of Varrus.

Spoiler:

The first head could work well for his accompanying squad. Perhaps a power sword wielding Champion.

He is conveying a ton of bad ery in the movements of all his gear and chains. Well done on the head. Also I agree with the smaller more streamlined nature of the backpack, makes sense for the killer to have more freedom of movement than other marines with their pansy bolsters.

I like your thinking on the swept back backpack. I have a few of the Dark Vengeance packs lying around I'm thinking I can knock something together from them.

If you have the one with the four "orbs" for exhausts that would be quite cool looking I think. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Hey buddy, that last helmet variant is fantastic! To be honest, I was already asking myself how long it would take you to cut off those bunny ears from my converted helmet and use them for one of your ultra-complex helmet splices

I agree with Medium of Death, btw: The backpack with the four exhausts should be a promising choice.

Oh, and can we get a better look at his sword, btw, I am really curious what's happened with that!

I've decided for Varrus to use a standard zerker headdress. Ill keep the Crusher ears for a unit of Chosen Ill eventually get around to.

Ill stick a few more pics of Varrus up at some point later tonight buddy. To be honest the sword is very basic. It's a standard Imperial sword with a Dark Elf Cold One Knight headdress on it and the hilt is from the Space Marine commander box set power sword.

Hi folks just checking in. Life's been a complete pita lately so haven't been able to work on anything 40k related in a couple of months. I've had some free time lately though and started checking out some of the forums again and came across this. I'm really pleased that someone went to the trouble of building a Stalker pattern Defiler from my tutorial and I think you'll agree some of the alternate parts he used really work.

Check out his Stalker here
http://throneofskulls.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2766

I'm hoping over the next few weeks ill be able to get back to chopping plastic but will have to wait and see how R/L goes.

Biohazard pattern Daemon engines have begun to stalk the across the 40k universe, most excellent!

Is the tutorial earlier in the thread or on throne of skulls?

Thanks guys, I'm honestly blown away by his interpretation of the Blood Stalker. A few ideas I wish I'd had. Haha.

Medium Of Death
The tutorial is here http://throneofskulls.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=2683 on Throne of Skulls and I think it should be on the B&C as well.

Squig, I'm alive and back on two wheels as well.

Right, I'm back. Been a hellish few months but starting to settle a bit now. Sat down tonight to work on the Lasher Fiend and started knocking a few ideas around. I thought I'd post them here for a general consensus. It's still needs a LOT of details and the leg/hip joint needs beefing a bit more.

Let me know what you think folks. Feels good to be chopping plastic again.

good to see you're back!

my opinion: you can either go with a 'skeletal' theme that it's giving off now, in which case I'd recommend some kind of rib-cage or spine-like structure, perhaps removing/replacing the big shoulderpads,

or, more muscular approach in which case I would bulk up the arms and legs with cables. Also, I'm not quite sure about the positioning of the head. As it stands I feel like the buzzsaw-arm can't really extend from the body without bumping into the head.

hope that helps!

Thanks buddy, I do quite like the idea of pushing the skeletal theme. I was really unsure about the big shoulder pads so think ill remove them for now. Also I can't get the magma cutters to work but really want to represent them for wysiwyg purposes. Ill have to try and come up with an alternative. Here's a look at it with te armour plates relocated

cool, like it better without the big shoulderpads for now... I should have said before that the left arm looks great with that hades autocannon... were you thinking of building something magnetized to count as forgefiend's different weapon loadouts or fixed with everything represented at once?

Meade, Yeah I prefer the smaller shoulder plates. need to find something for the lower legs though. I was planning on magnetising the front arms so I can run it with either the magma cutters or then ranged weapons. I may actually just build it with everything on show though. That was suggested back when I started this actually.

LDP. With the mean ass look on your latest Sgt I don't think this would have any chance of reaching your lines

Thanks

Objective marker is looking awesome and Khornate. The Lasher Fiend build is looking very promising. I think he needs a little more love and attention, but definitely has tons of potential. Glad to see you back, Bio.
