That is pretty wicked, Bio. You may need to keep the bulk of it intact. It's totally metal.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I think I'm gonna try and sink te Demolisher cannon a little as suggested by J-Paint as the overhang is the only thing that really bothers me as well. I'll probably remove the Predator Annihilator turret at the same time. Most of the bits on here are metal so I reckon a little time in the freezer and it should come apart fairly easily to modify. As for the spikes I personally hate them plastered all over Chaos vehicles. I always try and make them look chaotic without sticking garden fences everywhere so most of those will be removed. I love how low and wide this thing sits. It was a complete surprise as I had no idea what I was buying, my mate just described it as a big land raider with bits added. He made it sound really scrappy so I thought it would only be useful for bits to add to the Gorehound. The fact that I only paid £10 for it is just the icing on the cake

I agree that tank is pretty cool. Cool enough to not tear apart (it's a lot of work to convert the land raider backward and do all that work to it's hull) but not quite so cool that it would be a crime to modify in any way, though.. I would definitely also sink the demolisher canon into the hull more or remove it and probably the turret as well, and replace with assault ramp or more of a bunker like structure.

Some size comparisons with my Land Raider.

Meade, that's my thinking exactly. I think the older turret looks a little out of place up there and the Demolisher definitely needs tweaked. I may try and get it to look a little like one of the FW Legion tanks.

Looks to be a bit shorter, but around the same size as a typhon. I'd wager you can make it into one fairly easily.

Wow, that's a nice tank. The overhang needs some fixin', but that can be done with plasticard. Like the other guys have said, a big choppy roller would make it even more awesome. Perhaps a conversion similar to the one on the Khorne Rhino in the 3.5 ed CSM 'Dex, with the metal Ork buzzsaws?

Well, I was actually really worried when I saw "new land raider variant" in your post title: far to frequently its some kitbasher who glued his entire sprue collection to a raider. This on the other hand looks rather...cool. I'd definately shorten the demolisher chin so it is flush with the front of the tank, and maybe even remove the top turret. It does look a bit like a typhon, but it also reminds me a bit of the french ARL V39 tank destroyer concept.

Thanks guys.

List of plans for the new Raider are.
Either sit the Demolisher flush or remove in favour of assault ramps/openings.
Remove top turret.
Remove loyalists tracks and replace with Oppressor Treads like the other Land Raider and my ShadowSword.
Paint red and use as a bespoke transport for my Terminators.

Today I worked a little more on the Gorehound despite saying I wouldn't build anything else until my painting backlog is up to date. I'm feeling a bit gak so wasn't in the mood for painting. I'm at work just now but will show a couple of pics of the changes I've been looking at later.

I love the tank as is. I think the overhanging turret section is great, it reminds me of a nasty overbite I say paint it up and use it without further modifications.

Here's the update on the Gorehound I mentioned a couple of days ago. Still a lot of work to do. I changed the giant blade as I couldn't get it to a point where I was happy with it. I've decided to keep it more in line with the FW Warhounds. The shoulders still need work obviously.

I dunno...I kinda preferred it when it had actual "arms". The hanging turret looks a bit weedy next to the great big beefy torso and thick legs.

I'm not sure a roller underneath would balance the model. It's way, way too late to move that turret back about an inch or build the tracks forward, but perhaps ... wait... did you take a Rhino and make it part of the hull? I can't remember seeing this as a WIP. Key words- 'can't remember'. I could have posted about it multiple times.

*looks again*

Oh man. If I were not such a dedicated freedom fighter standing against Imperial tyranny I'd scream 'HERETIC!!!'

Anyway, back to the top heavy issue. Maybe a 'maw' of sorts to fill in the sides? Just a framework, it doesn't need to be fully enclosed. And really, unless someone is going to be handling it or you're having it judged, all anyone will ever see of it is 'top down' from 3 ft away.

Techsoldaten, thanks for checking it out buddy.

Skalk, I didn't build that tank, a guy at my club built it a few years ago. I reckon I can work with it a little and I'm thinking of heading towards a Spartan/Typhon look for it. It will just be used as a Land Raider dedicated transport for my Terminators

I worked a little more on finishing the shoulders a little better.

The flamers are just stand ins until I get land raider exhausts cut to fit in those panels. I'm happy enough with how it's progressing.

A quick look at the Slaanesh Champ I've been working on in between my Titan and a project I'm doing for a contest on Throne of Skulls. As I said before I intend on building at least a Champion and at most a squad or two for each of the 4 main gods. Obviously I have Khorne covered so I started with the Dark Prince for a change of pace. Still very early WIP but let me know what you think.

Fair enough. Any other c&c?

As for the Gorehound, it's in bits again. :( I recently got a new desk so was in the process of moving my hobby stuff from under the kitchen table (where I've been working the past few months) to the spare room aka Man Cave. My girlfriend was helping me move the countless boxes of stuff I had and tripped coming up the stairs while she was holding the Gorehound. Poor girl was beside herself as she's seen the hours of effort that have gone into the model. I'm not too upset though as it shows me where I really need to work on pinning and strengthening joints/gaps etc. I'm gonna be trying the superglue/baking soda trick in a few of the bigger gaps as well. Updates when I have them.

I'm the same way with my models, if they get knocked on the floor or a part falls off I just take it as a sign it should be better attached, better that it comes apart now than when you finished painting/basing it.

I find the combo of heavy wire, greenstuff and superglue is the strongest bond. Kind of the same principle as reinforced concrete.

Oh boy, sorry to hear about the Gorehound, although it sounds like you didn't flip out -- which is really the best possible approach, since in my opinion a good girlfriend can be much harder to get hold of than a tabletop model, even if it's one of your amazing, kitbashed monstrosities

Seriously, though: So far, every catastrophe that happened to the model ended up making it look cooler in the long run, so I am not all that worried

Seeing that Slaaneshi Champ (HERESY!) makes me realise I still owe you that bitz package I promised -- sorry for that, but life's been hell on wheels for the last week or two. Will get those parts out of the door as soon as possible, buddy!

Until then, I am always looking forward to your next update!

Yeah the Gorehound will definitely be very solid this time round. The problem I've had is with the waist being magnetised so it can spin it's not that sturdy while moving. I'm going to look at adding pins so once the torso is on the waist it's won't move at all. I'm not intending to game with the Gorehound but in case I ever decide to try an apoc game Id rather the model could withstand handling and table knocks etc.

Meade, Exactly my thoughts. If the model had been finished and painted of be a bit upset but to be honest it didn't bother me at all. It just made me think 'how do I stop this?'
Thanks for that, I'll check out that method in a couple of sections as well

Don't worry about the bits dump Kraut, I've still to sort out the parts for you as well. It would help if you could send me a list of bits you were needing ie which armour plates/legs etc

Malika if you check YouTube there's a few videos on it. Basically put some superglue into a gap pour some baking soda over it and it hardens almost instantly so can then be filed smooth etc I'm going to be using it for the hip/legs and feet on my model I think.

After that last pic I think the treads on your home brew tank needs to be swapped out , especially if its going to be on the same board as that beast.

Yeah the treads on the kit bashed tank will be swapped for Oppressor treads. I still need a name for that tank come to think of it. Any suggestions?

I need to get some Reaper auto cannons for the sponsons on the Decimator superheavy and add a bit of detail but I have to say the kit was a joy to put together. I may pick up another at some point.

What about the Landraider Deimos (Greek for 'terror')? Or if it operates like a siege tank and has troop transport maybe the Landraider Trojan? Unlike the wooden horse this machine relies on brute force rather than subterfuge to breach the enemy fortifications before unleashing it's payload. This unique Landraider variant was being trialed by the World Eaters Legion just before the Heresy broke. Rather than being used to spread the Imperial Truth it's mettle was tested against the defenses of the VII Legion.

My Lords name is Deimos! Ha!

Trojans an idea though. I do like the idea of this just being used to breach a defensive line, dropping a forward assault ramp and a fully armed and slightly ticked off Terminator squad charging out.
