However Goliath Assault Mech, really.

Catalyst Gaming Labs might get a bit upset at that.

A minor niggle of mine is just the name.

Goliath is a giant. The name doesn't fit with me as an 'assault' mech.

My own opinion and YMMV.

@Looky likey - Of course I would be delighted if you purchased one of our drones, but I would advise that on a 25mm base, it would be rather unstable. The steel pole and rubble with pre cast hole are both supplied, and would fit on a smaller base no problem.

@Orlanth, Hexal

Thanks for raising the issue. I was unaware that there was another wargaming product called "Goliath" however I dont really think its a problem, as our product looks nothing like the product you link to and would not be confused with it by anyone.

Gaming companies can of course register trademarks for their products, but generally wouldn't where the name is unoriginal and in common use, for example our "predator" drone, GW's "predator" tank and the "Predator" warrior from the AvP universe all exist in tabletop miniature form, but as the products are totally different and no one company can claim exclusive right to the name.

@Mr. Burning - I guess my thinking is that compared to a normal human, the Goliath is sufficiently huge to justify the name! Its certainly one of the largest models likely to exist in the AFTERLIFE world!

Under license. Do your research.

I doubt Catalyst or Topps for that matter (who own the Battletech IP) have trademarked any of those words like certain other companies would have. Only in that specific combination would their be any confusion. As it is obviously not trying to be either of the other items mentioned in the thread as Goliath I suspect he hasn't got much to worry about.

Hey Everyone,

Its been a bit quiet lately while we released our Trial Rules to vanguard backers, and Ive now start the exciting work on the next collection of figures for AFTERLIFE.

The new range will be launched along side the full game in a few months time.

Here is a "recruitment teaser" featuring Vargo Federici, first Senator of the Pan-Continental Republic and hero to millions around the world.

Click HERE to view Vargo in our store, we have lots more character models in development and I will be releasing previews over the coming weeks.

I also have a preview of the "commando" variant of the Grenadier helmet I am working on. This helmet will be worn by the Radoni Corporation Special forces who will be the main protagonists in Volume One.

The Commandos will be lighter equipped than their Grenadier comrades, but much faster and more lethal thanks to their training and experience.

Here is another preview for the new AFTERLIFE stuff we are preparing for the full launch.

You can never have enough guys with visor helms, trench coats and full-auto shotguns!

These guys are the Unity Councils elite Internal Guard Unit, used to garrison Unity buildings and enforce order in the Hyper Cities.

I'm planning specialists and command officers for these guys, is there anything in particular you would like to see?

Please give us more than the 3-to-5 static / unrealistic leg poses that the majority of small companies think is acceptable.

Other than that, a support light MG and grenade launcher for specials wouldn't go amiss.

Only criticism I can offer is the gun might be a little on the large size, shotgun or not.

Your Republic Grenadiers and Council Marines are excellent and really blow the competition out of the water.

Really like the look of that elite guard. The high collar gives him a real menacing look. I'm reminded of those elite SWAT type forces in Equalibrium the movie (which for all it's faults had really nice design for the equipment).

I second the motion for dynamic leg poses. Some running and some crouching legs goes a long way to give a squad some life and it's really hard to convert yourself for trench coat wearing figures.

Oh I like the look of them.

Since they are the elite house guard. What about some kind of very rare, very powerful plasma based infantry weapon for one of them to wield? They look like the kind of troops that would look good with a weapon of that sort kicking around in their squad.
Or alternatively a hand held version of the Ajax EMP cannon.

In terms of the model themselves. A few running and crouching legs would be the go. Make it look like they are rapidly advancing down hallways, covering each other as they go.
They definitely need some gear strapped round their waist. Another drum mag for the shotguns and pistol or something.

Aside from that though, they look good.

I ordered a goliath and some gun-tractors via my Japanese shop, cannot wait to pick them up

On the guys in the long coats, is it possible to have a patch on the arm, as an special guard i expect them to have some special insignia, and are the heads separate?

I'm from the future. The future of space

The gorget and helmet completely hiding the neck is awesome. Reminds me of some old school sci-fi art and miniatures from the late 70s, but with a modern miniatures aesthetic to the whole figure.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

I don't have anything meaningful to contribute to this thread. I've been considering ordering some stuff from Anvil for a while now, mainly for conversions and what not, and I think its time to go ahead on that.

I'd really like to thank all the people posting photos, they've given me a great idea of the scale on some of these.

Normally I'm a hardcore fan of your designs, so I hate to say it, but I'm not digging this one very much. I seem to be in the minority in that regard though. I have two issues with it. First, his arms seem kind of bare. Some sort of shoulder pad or just more detail on the sleeves (like an armband or something) would help spice it up. My second problem is the helmet. Maybe its just me, but it feels a bit too big and generally lacking menace. It just looks like he's got a motorcycle helmet on. For light infantry or recon units, I think it would look fine. But for a guy whose purpose is to stand around looking cool and intimidating, it just isn't working for me. Either something more regal looking, like the Iron Grenadiers' helmets from GI Joe or something a bit more mask-like would work a bit better. The Helghast pictured above have masks with a vaguely skull-like appearance to them, something like that I think would work really well here, especially with that high collar.

To be honest I would do away with the helmet entirely and replace it with perhaps just a half-face mask, giving them a very Syndicate look. The rest of the model is pretty bad ass!

Nothing says "I believe I'm elite" like a lack of obvious armour

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your feedback!

@Onemanneedles - Dont worry there will be at least 5 poses, most likely more, and the legs and upper bodies are separate so you can mix and match for huge variety of figures. The gun is about the same size as the existing afterlife weapons, but I will look at making it slightly less tall, which I think will look a bit more menacing.

@Zywus - Equilibrium is my favourite film ever, and certainly a source of inspiration for AFTERLIFE.

There will be both running and kneeling legs with these guys.

@Snrub - No plasma weapons planned but certainly some specialist kit for them.

They will have gear - extra mags and pouches, but not too much, as they are primarily garrison troops, they would not be commonly deployed on operations.

@Jehan - Heads will be attached, its impossible to separate them from the high collars. I will be doing another version of these with gas mask type helms though, as I know the current helmets will not be to everyones taste.

I will look at adding a patch, thats a good idea.

@Barzam -

Yeah it looks like a motorbike helmet, this is intentional and a design feature, as I noted above these guys in particular are inspired by the guards in Equilibrium, who have trench coats and motorbike helmets, and I've loved the aesthetic since I first saw the film!

Simiarly with the bare arms, I tried out various shoulder decorations and pads but nothing really looked right. I prefer the simplicity of the bare arms.

Im working on a few other infantry types which you may like more!

@siygess - I will certainly consider that as a possible variation or use it on some other infantry types.

Thanks again everyone, we will have more previews up soon!

Cheers

I'm thinking the gas mask look will probably be more to my liking.

Does that hint you dropped mean you've got some Iron Grenadier looking guys planned, or are you teasing some not-Helghast in the future?

Seeing as motorbike helmets is the inspiration, is there any chance of some of them riding some sort of bikes? Long coats flapping in the wind behind them?
Could look awesome!

I think the head is definitely way too large. I understand you are trying to fit into a certain aesthetic, but this looks much more like the proportions used on bad 15mm figures. I don't know how difficult it would be to scale down the head 20-30%, but that head is seriously enormous.

This has been raised by a few people, and I will certainly check the helmet matches the others in the range before sending the figures to print, but Im not sure Im going to change anything.

Firstly a helmet, particularly this style, is large, and also the lack of shoulder pads makes it more obviously so. In a render on the screen where the figure is huge the helmet does look comically large, as does the gun, but when scaled down to a 30mm tall figure, Im pretty sure it will look about right.
Once we have test prints, if it needs amending slightly, I wont hesitate to do so.

Thanks for the feedback.

Fair enough. Hopefully it is just the angle or something.

I actually think the helmet is fairly spot on, and looking cool. However I think the gun looks way to big. Like he accidentally grapped a SM gun instead of his own.

Since you say you tried various decor and shoulderpads - how about releasing some of those pads on their own (finally )

The gun is roughly the same bulk as a smart rifle, but I am going to look at it and see if I can make it a little less tall, so its sleeker.

Good news - we actually put the UC Marine and Republic Grenadier pad sets in a mould yesterday, they will be available as bits parts early next week.

If those are not to your taste, we will likely be releasing more shoulderpad options over the coming months.

Wow, Awesome work Ellyll81! They look great in realistic camoflage. Thanks for posting the photo - anyone else got any AFTERLIFE miniatures to show off?

We have a few new "bits" products available for converters of regular human infantry.

Helmets and shoulder pads from the AFTERLIFE infantry are now available, plus the Unity Council Pistols sprue, which is ideal for equipping infantry with standard issue side arms.

Click the images to go the relevant product pages.

More previews for AFTERLIFE later this week!

Cheers
