Subject: Minus' minis ! Dark Eldars army in progress.
Casey's Law wrote: Firstly, that is one masterfully painted little dwarf! I'm loving that patterning on the purple/pink robes.
That was the most annoying part to paint, because those patterns are not really sharp so it was hard to see exactly what it was supposed to look like. I'm almost certain that on some areas I didn't follow them. But I like the result, and so do you then I'm happy with it.
Thank you all for your interest for project 111. I really hope we will be able to make up a nice army.
It was not my idea but I think it's wonderful to have an occasion to use my passion to help people, and especially children.
Casey's Law wrote: Your new project sounds excellent and it's lovely that it's for a good cause. Can't wait to see your progress! If you think the other 8 guys are good then this'll be a mindblowing army.
I didn't choose the other painters. It is Ultracius who chose who would be in. But all of 8 are good painters. And to be honest... some (most ?) are better painters than I am. It's a pleasure for me to work with them.
Might a preview of what they can do interest you ?
Gitsplitta wrote:That's a pretty impressive line up of painters Minus. I think you fit right in.
Casey's Law wrote:Agreed Minus. I think you've found yourself some equals in that group!
Thanks dudes ! Honestly, some of them are really really better than me. At least 2.
But I think together we should do a good work. Well, not really "together" since we don't all know each other for real, but you know, internet.
Eldercaveman wrote:Wow this is going to be good! Any clues for what army you are going to be doing?
Yup ! Army is already decided. We already have received most of the miniatures that people gifted to the project (thank you to them all). We are at the stage that some color scheme tests are being made. And I'm currently waiting for my package to be sent to me.
So you can try to guess what army that will be. Don't forget it will be a WHB project. Who will guess what army we chose ?

We refuse to take sides in this anymore. And we refuse to let you turn us against one another. We know who we are now, we can find our own way between order and chaos...
It's over because we've decided it's over. Now get the hell out of our galaxy! Both of you.

I'd love it to be Wood Elves or Beastmen because I'm rather fond of them. That said, I'd guess Empire. I can imagine it'd be beautiful to see a huge Empire army with troops painted as if they are from different towns or something. Or even painted up as a medical regiment to mirror the cause.
Thanks Miss Dee. I have 3 more Dwarves to paint and I think my Mordheim team will be complete.
No one has found the right army at the moment. I don't know exactly if there will be a lot of conversions, but there will be some I think. It won't be a conversion-heavy army though, because we have a limited time to organize, build and paint the army. The aim is to sell it in 2014, not in 2025.

I don't want to stick my oar in(is that a translatable phrase?), but if you'd like, I'd be happy to donate a conversion. If you want I could send it directly to you and if it's not up to scratch in terms of quality you can just ignore it, I won't be offended at all. If you'd be up for that just pm me and we can talk about which army and model.
Eldercaveman wrote:Dark Elves or Vampire Counts then I think.
And you think right ! Now guess witch one.
Casey's Law wrote:I don't want to stick my oar in(is that a translatable phrase?).
If I translate word by word, it doesn't mean anything AT ALL in french. But I understand the idea, and google confirmed that I understood it correctly.
Casey's Law wrote:I I'd be happy to donate a conversion.
I'd be happy if you do so.
I can't promise it will be added to the army (I don't decide this and it will depend on how good it looks) but I'd be happy to paint it. I'll PM you.
Casey's Law wrote:I hope that makes sense, I'm a little drunk.
And I hope that you're not drunk when doing conversions !
Indeed, we are gonna paint a Vampire Counts army. I don't remember all the details, but there should be a wide variety of units, from zombies to monsters.
I think I'll get my models next week, I'm eagger to start. ^^
Drunk conversions are the most fun!
I don't doubt it would be (and look) fun. But I have to SELL it in the end.
As discussed by PM, I'm curious to see what you will do. ^_^
I received my models for Project 111 this week. I got some old school miniatures. Since I love old OOP models, I'm really happy.
I have to finish the models I'm working on before I skip to project 111.
Ah the old warhammer quest dwarf! I think...right?? THose purples are so lovely. He looks perfectly regal. Nice beards too I think the verdigris is too strong on the coins and has muddied up detail making for a less weathered look and comes across more sloppy. (which i know is not your intention) Maybe its the pic, im sure it looks great in person but i think its too aggressive of a weathering effect for such a small bit. Much better looking on the shield.
Great work though as usual minus!
Cheers

bebopdrums2424 wrote:Ah the old warhammer quest dwarf! I think...right??
Right ! I bought like ten years ago a box with I think 8 adventurers in it, all plastic ones. I thought it would be perfect for Mordheim, and it is. I already painted a troll slayer, a dark elf assassin, a halfling, a human sorcerer and soon this dwarf that'll be finished, from this box. The other one is the Lord from Skull Pass.

The metals are not finished on this photo, I have to highlight them. This should make them look better and less blurry. I let you tell me if it still bothers you when I post the final pix, ok ?
Gitsplitta wrote:Looking great Minus. Love the one on the right especially.
Thank you Gits. I have to paint all the golds, but I'm satisfied with the way he turns out.
I'd also like to tell you about another project that I'm concerned about. I am moderator on the biggest french miniature games dedicated forum, and this year we had a big modelling project.
Several good painters from that forum offered to paint (for free) a unit or a vehicle for a Grey Knights army. This army will be sold within a few weeks and the money we get from the sale will be used to organize projects, such as modelling activities on the forum (we are building crazy towers using 40k Imperial bunkers), a gaming convention (second edition is planned next spring) and so on.
I thought this could interest some people here, first of all to see the result, and maybe someone here be interested in buying the army. Because the painters did a fantastic work, even more if we consider that they didn't meet and worked together only through a few dedicated topics on the forum. I let you judge by yourself...
Nota : I did NOT paint these miniatures Nota 2 : this project is NOT related with project 111, apart from the fact that there are common people involved. Project 111 is dedicated to a carritative association.

This army is incredible. I had the chance to hold it in my hands (well, not the entire army at the same time ^^ ) and it looks really good.
I was tempted to hide it in my pockets. But my pockets were too small.
I finished painting two more dwarves for Mordheim :
And this is the whole mob, ready to hunt treasures in the ruins of the city of the damned.
bebopdrums2424 wrote:awesome work minus. wow. thats an awesome looking group shot. you were right about the verdigris, it looks great on the completed miniature. BB
Thanks bebopdrums. Nice to read that the bronze looks better now.
Gitsplitta wrote:Just love those Minus. Fantastic work all-round.
Thank you Gits ! I'm really happy that you like my work and comment it so often.
jah-joshua wrote:very cool Dwarves... it's always nice to see Warbands, and the variety of minis they have... much cooler than a regiment of the same rank and file...
My first band was made of models from a WHB plastic regiment. When I decided to build up a new warband, I picked various models that I likes. I imagine them as individuals, that gathered in the ruins of Mordheim in order to hunt treasures (and wreck faces, too ^^ ). So it's not a problem that they all are different, and it looks better in the end.
BTW, I had never seen your gallery so far, and wow, you're a pretty good painter.

i love Felix's Dwarves...
keep up the good work...

Wow stunning paint jobs! The raider with the pooper tank scares me though. It sparks so many questions, why is it above the riders? Further yet why are they tempting fate by aiming a giant scythe at it? I love models that make your imagination run wild!
Keep up the awesome work, and thanks for your answer to beebop on your metallic technique! I would love for you to do a step by step tutorial someday
