Hey, it's the bidders driving it up that high. Seems there's a market at that price (which is strange; I'd say shadowsun works fairly well in FC but to each his own )

Well, look at FW stuff. People almost always seem to pay more than they would if they'd ordered it direct.

Reason for that can be quite simple: lot of EU folk (and younger USbased wargamers I'm guessing) don't have a CC but can easily get money into a paypal account. I've seen people overpaying significantly for that simple reason...

Anyone in the US can get a Visa Gift card that functions 100% like a credit card, regardless of their age. Those cards can also be used to add money to Paypal.
Basically they allow anyone with no bank account or actual credit cards to use Paypal, which in this day and age is one of the few secure ways to buy from private parties online.

I know, those "gift" or prepaid cards are available here as well. Doesn't mean everyone knows, though. It's the only reason anyone's ever given me, and I've seen it a few times.

Price is pretty ridiculous. Also why is the paint so grainy?
$75!!!
Side note, the texture is from a bad can/technique of aerosol primer. A bunch of my HE spearmen are like this, and it's pretty hard to correct. I now airbrush primer all my models as that ends up being smooth 100% of the time.
Aerosol priming is a fickle mistress that can be difficult to tame.
Actually, the majority of priming issues are erroneously blamed on the product.
I can't speak for your personal experience but, looking at the "quality" of the paint on the model and his over-blown presumption of what it's worth, I would guess that it's because the model was poorly primed. If you prime a model in weather that is too hot or too humid, this texture is your end result.

I think some of you guys are missing the point about some of these E-bay follies. If the price gets driven up by bidders, then it is worth it.
When you have the Diaz demonettes they are rare and prized by people.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12-DAEMONETTES-OF-SLAANESH-Metal-Chaos-Space-Marines-or-Daemons-Army-40K-2002-/300868747701?pt=UK_Toys_Wargames_RL&hash=item460d2cc1b5
That Shadowsun model is in metal and so it's price gets driven up by it's rareity.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OOP-metal-Tau-Empire-COMMANDER-SHADOWSUN-Tau-Battlesuit-HQ-new-MIB-/111046226561?pt=UK_Toys_Wargames_RL&hash=item19dadef281
You can't find metal mini's anymore since finecast has been out a couple of years now. Just because you do not like metal does not mean that others don't prefer it. I lived in Phoenix AZ where the Temperature goes up to 115+ degrees fahrenheit (46.11c) and my house/car it gets much hotter. If I had finecast my minis would all be melted, so that is why I need metal models (Note: plastic minis get brittle by being tempered in this heat).
I just sold my rare metal incubi on e-bay and they went for $61 for 5 metal models ($21 over retail) and they are worth it if you want metal.

Edit: Darn, here is one for $78! Why didn't I get that much?

That is what I meant. It's rare to get a "bad" can of primer, but quite common for user error to give bad results. It's easy to mess up aerosol priming. It's pretty damn hard(even with weather) to mess up airbrush priming.
I think in 10 years of using aerosol primers I've only had 1 legitimately bad can of primer. Any other times it came out bad were due to weather/improper technique.
I was tired of taking the gamble with it, and was already looking to start airbrushing, so now it's an easy solution. Plus I can do it indoors and no one gets high.

The $150 for the Ork boys is only a little expensive, and that's mostly because it's AoBR Boys.
Fifteen bucks a model, painted to that standard, is pretty common for well painted commissions and Feebay purchases.
